| One Fine Day |

WEEKEND AND I just want to sleep all day but the fact that I mumbled something last night that may provoke me to spill what I’m thinking, I decided to get off bed early. I need to stay away from Reina’s curiosity. Besides, I have work to do. I need to fill in Bill’s place.

The golden rays of the shining sun greeted the beautiful land of Chanter University. Birds chirping, telling us that another wonderful blessing was given to us. The greens give hope that no matter how cruel humans will be, God can give us all the beautiful things that we deserve.

“Good morning, Becca,” Mrs. Dory greeted and sipped on her cup of coffee.

“Good day, Mrs. Dory,” I greeted back.

I walked towards the locker room and fixed my hair in a bun and put my apron on. Kara is still not here, well, it’s just 7 in the morning. On Saturday, we need to spend our time in the café for eight hours. Sundays will be our day off.

    | Underground | IF I would have the lamp of Aladdin right now, I will wish the genie that he’ll banish that Linus for the rest of his time. Or maybe just turn him into an orange pulp and I’ll pop it until it shrinks. I never think that things get worse when I met that guy. First, he rolled his eyes at me. He arrogantly talked to me, and he winked at me the other day, that I almost had insomnia, because the scene keeps on replaying inside my head. Oh, how I wish that the ground will swallow me during Mrs. Ether’s class. That reaction paper is a curse, and having Linus is unfortunate. He was absent! The submission for that paper was today, and he got the guts to get absent?I know, I must be patient and be considerate because I don't know what happened to him or what he does, why he's absent. He may be sick or what, but the hell, he could have informed me. How would he inform you?

  • Unexpected Fate   Chapter 12: Hateful Truth

    | Hateful Truth | “UNDERGROUND FIGHTS is illegal because it is dangerous. But why does C.U permits this?” I asked Nena as I never take away my eyes from him. “Yeah. In other countries. But here, they have strict requirements. According to no one in particular, C.U has a license, and they only allow fighters who were trained and followed health and safety requirements,” she explained. “Does watching this kind of stuff reduce the aggressiveness or does it satisfy human being who has an interest to violence?” I asked, and look at her. She sighed and scratch her left eyebrow. “Boxing… kickboxing… MMA fighters, and more… we’re used to watching them on the big screen—illegal fight clubs are more than present in this world. That’s who they are. C.U permits this because they have licensed, okay? Does it clear your thoughts? Ah!” she sneered. “Just watch them, and let's cheer for Linus,” she said, then shouted, “GO L!”

  • Unexpected Fate   Chapter 13: Trying To Forget

    | Trying To Forget | THE ALLURING trees greeted me as I walk along the park. Nena is absent, Trix gone home, while Evette has a photoshoot, and Reina—well she's in the CASTE-IT building. As much as I want to visit her, I’m too lazy to walk. I rather stay in the park. One more turn and I'll be there but a sudden grip pulled me and we enter an empty room. “What the—” I didn’t finish my sentence when his free hand covered my mouth. Wide eyes, I’m seeing my shadow through the lenses of her deep menacing blue eyes. “You shut up,” he whispered, soft but full of authority. I wiggled and tries to get off of his hand but damn, he's strong. What can I expect from a fighter? I hate this closeness. His blue eyes, mint breath, thin pressed lips, and his perfect jawline. Damn! Can't he hear the swift beats of my heart? “Scared?” he asked, still hand covering my mouth and his other ha

    | The Waiter | “WOW! We have lots of customers, huh?” I put my apron on and didn’t bother to go to my locker and just went on the counter right away. “Of course, we have a gorgeous waiter,” Kara answered. “You mean, Bill?” Well, he's handsome, I must admit, but Bill was absent since last week for a particular reason—he’s sick. She shook her head and said, “No, we have a newly hired waiter,” she answered. “What do you mean?” I asked with curiosity. “Oh, he’s there, right behind you—” My forehead wrinkled as I shift my head to where she’s pointing. To my surprise, the cup I’m holding almost slip on my grip, “What are you doing here?” I asked the guy whom I’m trying to forget. He raised his left brow and put the tray he’s holding at the top of the counter. “Two macchiatos for table thirteen, Miss,” he said and leaned on the counter, crossed legs as he

And I know he will not give us problems if we can’t surpass them.As time goes by, my heart started to outgrow feelings that I never imagine that I would feel—the feeling of being in love.Indeed, we can’t talk over something that we can’t stand. My school performances were fine, but this feeling… it’s not.I always ask myself, how did this happen? Why that fast?I fear.I fear because I’m not certain about it and I’m not ready for it.I fear being left in the dark, confused about what to do.I fear being rejected.

  • Unexpected Fate   Chapter 17: The Kiss

    | The Kiss |Friday night, the cold breeze hugged me as I stepped out of the café. The trees shaded some part of the streets as their shadows reflect on it. I put my two hands on the side pocket of my jacket. Winter is fastly approaching. I began to walk.Linus and I have different end shifts. His out is every six in the evening, while I go home every seven, and sometimes it is eight.I sighed. Linus again? Until when would I forget that name.As I walk slowly, I look up in the sky. Stars are twinkling at me with light, mischievously squinting, and saying hello to me. They are like a sly pearl that adorns that dark blue sky and is no less inferior to the bright moon. The night’s aroma pervades the air, covering all the scenery inside. It is not as realistic as it is during the day. The air is filled with sweltering moisture, like a fog. The light from the lamppost is like a night of pearls gilled with

WHILE going to the arena mentioned by the king, Linus' father, my heart pounded faster than usual. I even heaved a deep and that caught Ms. Dory’s attention. And she did say that all I must relax.I hope that was easy. I never thought that we will be brought into this situation. It is so hard to love. All I ever thought is that we’re fine having a relationship privately, I thought I will never experience this kind of thing like I usually watched in movies, but behind everything, I remain tough, and I knew that when you love, you sacrifice. You will take any risk and you will do anything when it comes to love. You will do everything to make your relationship last.I roamed around the place. In every hallway, there were guards wearing black suits. All I have ever known, royal guards should wear like those red and black pants like Queen Elizabeth royal guards in England. But I was wrong. | His Words |THE FOLLOWING days, things went well between Linus and me. I can say that he was very helpful and doesn’t have any complaints about the work on the farm. He doesn’t care even if he’s already dirty. And he helped my father a lot. He worked hard to get cow’s milk. Feed the chickens and take eggs on the poultry. I once asked him if he was already struggling with it because the activities of elite people are way different from poor people like us.In just a few days, our one-week break will end and we will be back to studying again. More activities and lessons again. My part-time job at the café will be resumed.
