As the day drew to a close, the Hunters seemed confident that Rem could keep the werewolves in line with his wishes. Of course, the youngest children were harder to control, but they were zero threat to the Hunters and they understood they were just average children in the times they were merely overtired or fussy about certain tasks.

With permission from Mrs Emerson, the werewolves could transform so long as they remained within the gardens and did not stir up any troubles with the Hunters. It was a large test of trust she was offering them, and it was only possible because of Rem. It really pleased me to see the two groups were slowly coming to trust one another, though we still had a long way to go.

It was entertaining to watch the younger werewolves transform for the first time and the new bodies they had to get accustomed to. I looked back fondly on the first time I had transformed. Back then I had zero balance on all four paws and the momen

An hour passed by slowly once Rem had left me on my own. It was an odd feeling to be away from his side after having had him next to me for as long as he had been. I wasn’t sure what to do with myself for the first time since coming to Wales. I was content and happy with how things had gone with my mate, even if not everything was perfect. I took out my phone and was about to call my mother to update her about the process of what was going on with my mate when I noticed several missed calls and texts from her. I had neglected my phone since waking up here, mostly because I thought I had lost it, and then because the battery had died and then because Mrs Emerson didn’t want to risk me summoning some werewolf army, but I had finally had it back. They were all from my mother, and they were recent. I furrowed my brows. She never called or texted me this much. Hopefully, she was just checking up on me and nothing had worried her. I looked through th

  • Under the Blue Moon   For the One Who Needs Me

As I rounded up the werewolves to head back into the guest house, things ran smoothly. The children were, as before, harder to order about, especially with how excited they all still were, but thankfully their mothers were there to help move them along. I couldn’t help but smile at their enjoyment of being allowed to transform for the first time. I knew the pack at some point would want to leave the guest house and go back to their own homes, or find a new home for themselves once things were safe, but I wasn’t sure what Rem and I were going to do about that. I hoped they’d be able to stay here in Cardiff and the surrounding areas, but I couldn’t assume the Hunters would allow that now that the pack had regained their wolves and abilities. As the last few returned to the guest house, I turned my attention to the main mansion and hesitated. Something felt strange. It hadn’t been more than an hour and a half since Rem had left to deal with the ca

The meditation room was as tall as it was wide and fairly dark within. They impeded what little light that got into the room with a blackout curtain and only a single candle on a small shrine was lit. The air was thick with incense sticks that burned on the shrine.Rem did not move to hint that he had heard me enter. In fact, Rem seemed strangely still and quiet and not at all in any danger. Yet the aching of my body wouldn’t wane and everything within me told me I was needed here.Slowly, I dragged myself over to where Rem kneeled in front of the shrine. The action brought me pain with each step but I continued until I was at Rem’s side. His breathing was shallow. Had I known no better, I’d have thought him to be asleep and nothing more.I struggled to stand beside him, my gaze looking up at his face with worry, but I couldn’t communicate with him, and now I did not know what I should do to h

Darkness surrounded me everywhere, but for some strange reason, I could see myself just fine. Looking around, I did not know where I was exactly, but it felt like I was floating in some kind of void. I was still in my wolf form, yet there was nothing to suggest I was anywhere with life or physical things, as I could feel nothing touching me, nor could I smell anything around me. I mulled over my options. I could try to walk, assuming that I could, and hope that I would eventually find something or I could call out and hope someone was nearby. Also assuming I could speak here. I saw nothing to suggest either would lead me very far, but there was nothing else to do but try. “Hello?” I attempted to call out and was pleased when my voice seemed to work. Perking my ears up, I listened intently. So far, nothing. “Hello?!” I tried louder this time. Nothing. I sighed and looked around for a sign of life. Something bright was glowing off

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Truth Beneath the Sky

With the thought of Rem trying to protect me, I moved over to the chest and tried to pull the chains off, to no avail. There was no start or end to them, yet they kept growing and tightening around the chest slowly. I frowned deeply and looked back to Seren. She looked at me helplessly.“I tried that too, but as soon as I touched it, it ended up quickening the pace, likely because of my nature as a spirit. Rem would never trust nor allow me access,” she relayed and then looked down at the chest. “You at least do not have that effect, which means Rem must know who you are, at the very least.”“Can he hear us?” I asked Seren curiously. She seemed to mull over my question before replying with, “theoretically, he should be able to hear us, yes. We’re in His mind after all. Or his heart now, I suppose.”“This is the strangest thing I have done, just so we’re aware,”

  • Under the Blue Moon   What Big Teeth You Have!

No matter how many times I broke the chains surrounding the chest, more replaced them. However, they were getting slower in their attempts to lock away the spirit within. That meant our attempts were not completely futile and was giving us time to figure out a better solution to this total mess Rem was getting himself into. I still had more questions, but for now, I was trying to focus more on saving Rem from his own actions. Mulling over my options, I looked to Seren and asked, “size has no meaning here, right?” “I suppose not,” she replied thoughtfully. With a nod, I shifted back into the more wolf-like form, my size increasing rapidly until I was the size of an elephant. It was harder than I thought it would be. The form itself was familiar to me but not the size, so trying to not overthink it while still thinking about it enough to pull off was such an out of this world experience. I knew I wouldn’t go through this again soon, excep

With my ‘human’ spirit now once more joined with this half of me, I am finally able to take on my human form. I do so, double-checking for any errors in my judgement but everything looks perfect. I do have a slight glow, but nothing that would suggest I was a ‘spirit’ that Rem couldn’t trust. Or I hoped not, at the least. He was still giving me distrustful glances, but now that Seren was no more, he seemed to relax again. Turning my attention fully on Rem, I leaned on the chest and patted the chains. “Come sit with me, Remmy,” I coo over to him - using the nickname Sam called him in a hope that Rem would know for sure that this really was me. He let out a grunt of annoyance at the nickname and stomped his way over to me, though the sword remained in his hand even as he dragged behind himself sluggishly. “Well, now I know it’s definitely you. Only you would dare call me that besides Sam,” he criticised. He sat on the chest beside me and

“I’ll make my choice. It is time to wake up,” Rem’s voice rang out to me as everything turned white. I could hear people arguing nearby as I roused from the dream I had been having. Though in my heart, I knew it had been no dream. The feel of someone’s fingers slowly stroking through the fur on my head alerted me to the fact that Rem was now awake along with me.As my eyes flickered open, the sound of the large doors into the meditation room swung open with the force of an angry person behind them. I knew I was in trouble for entering the room against Mrs Emerson’s demands, but I knew it was the right thing to do.Mrs Emerson halted as soon as she saw Rem was awake, her expression no longer furious but stunned. • Under the Blue Moon   The Last Journey Home

My gaze never shifted away from Arwen as he looked down at me still, the silence deafening. Nothing seemed to happen, and I wondered if maybe I had simply misunderstood what he was implying. The ground had since stopped shaking and the souls had all returned at the Gods’ demands. Taking in a sharp breath, I helped Rem stand up again, but my thoughts did not wane. I kept thinking over what Arwen had said to me. The God seemed to at least have the patience to allow me to do that much, but I knew it wouldn’t last long. Anxiously, I finally dared to look back at Arwen. His arms were folded across his chest, as though he was dealing with a schoolroom full of children. Despite who and what I was, he was still far older than I, by many centuries. Many cultures had their own version of Death, but most of them stemmed from the same legends spread over the world, twisted into their own versions. “What… sort of price?” I finally asked, unknowing i

  • Under the Blue Moon   A Debt Must be Paid

Thousands upon thousands of eyes stared down at me from the black hole atop the shrine. Even with all of my focus set upon my attempts to hold the ritual back, the opening to Annwn was growing larger. The ground was shaking more, to where small pieces of the ceiling were clattering down on the ground below. Whatever glow I once had was practically gone now, and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that was a bad sign.I was feeling drained and knew it wouldn’t be long now before my attempts failed completely. I relayed the news to the three behind me swiftly as the black hole expanded again. There would be nothing I could do to hold the souls back, but with luck, I might still find the strength to stop the ritual from completing fully.Or so I had hoped.A large earthquake rocked the area, causing the four of us to stumble. I couldn’t keep my balance long enough to refocus and the result was disastrous. Souls quickly started pour

  • Under the Blue Moon   Two Steps away from Annwn

The four of us turned our full attention to the shrine ahead of us. Although the tension between Rem and Rakesh hadn’t subsided, they both put aside their personal feelings of the other to deal with the issue at hand. I wasn’t sure how the other two were handling everything, but it relieved me to not have to stress over the issue just yet.The shrine was old, hand-carved from marble stone. Etchings had been carved into it, but it had been worn from time and was harder to see what it had originally been. I suspected it was more of the same markings that had been on the doors and entrance to this place. They had placed the candles in a horseshoe shape on the surface of the marble. Within them was some burning sage.Although these items were important for most rituals, I could tell right away that even if we put out the candles or stopped the burning of the sage, it still wouldn’t stop the summoning.Kayden looked towards Ra

  • Under the Blue Moon   New Family, Old Friends

Finding the entrance wasn’t too difficult, as it was where the Alpha had said it would be. Finding the new entrance, it was obvious that the digging of paws had made it. Therefore, it would require the two of us to crawl to get inside. I led the way, with Rem following close behind me.Despite the trouble that lay ahead of us, Rem couldn’t help but interject with, “at least I get a lovely view one last time.”I couldn’t look back at him, but I rolled my eyes. “Really, Rem?” I chided him for his childishness. Though in truth, I was glad that Rem hadn’t lost his quirky little sense of humour. “When this is all over, we can admire each other as much as we want. Promise,” I then added, a little quieter. I had hoped that after this war, we could finally find peace. Now I wasn’t so sure.Fighting mortals was one thing, but fighting what was essentially a God was something else ent

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Last Journey

Once more, I take my human form. It seems to surprise the Alpha to find me bandaging his wounds. I hope that if we can convince him to no longer seek revenge, then he might turn into a more reasonable werewolf now that he no longer can be the fighter he once was. If we can salvage him and the others, then perhaps we can finally be at peace and no one else has to go to war on the other. Though with the loss of his mate, I wasn’t sure how the Alpha would react. At worse he would continue to seek revenge and at best; he might get locked up for the rest of his life under the Hunter’s care. “Why don’t you transform back now? It’ll be easier to patch you up,” I say to him, keeping my words firm but gentle. Ken doesn’t seem pleased with how kind I’m being to the Alpha, but after he has put silver cuffs on the Alpha to keep him weak as a precaution, he seems much more amicable to leave my side. I don’t even have to ask where he is going.

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Luna's Victory

The pleasant late morning summer sun heated my fur and made me feel rather warm. It would have been an enjoyable morning had my mind not been full of adrenaline of what had taken place and was still going on even now. All around me, people were busying themselves with helping bandage the wounded. I, however, had no time to help. The Alpha had issued me a challenge, one that I could not really back out of.The two of us circled one another, each of us sizing the other up, but not yet ready to strike first. I was well aware of the Alpha’s skill and although he no longer knew the full extent of my own abilities; he was fully aware of who and what I was. He knew I was no longer the same half-blood he had easily overpowered in a fight before and was now much warier about what damage I could do to him.To make this a fair fight, I had removed the werewolf weapon that Rem had gone to the trouble of getting for me.Staying near me to monitor

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Last Battle

It feels like it has been forever since this whole thing started, even though it hadn’t been that long since Rem and I had met and become mates. I had hoped life would have been simple, enjoying life blissfully, but life had other plans for me and Rem and life had sent this Alpha to shake up our two worlds. Now it had all boiled down to this.Looking around the new battlefield, it seemed with the few Ancient Ones having followed and helped with the fight to protect those who could not defend themselves; we had brought down all the Alpha’s pack members. The Alpha was the only one left still able to fight. I stood in front of the others, my tail held up in a challenging display towards him. I was sure that Ken would want to kill him, but I knew that if we allowed him to do that, nothing much would change. The survivors of the Alpha’s pack and allies would merely seek revenge and call our own pack and allies traitors.No. If I want

  • Under the Blue Moon   Broken Bonds

I can feel the gravel shifting under my paws as Rem and I run toward our family. The Hunters are trying their hardest to fend off the Alpha and his pack members, but the enemy outnumbers them. It was strange that this pack would be out this way, as it was nowhere near the direction of the mansion nor the field in which their allies had camped out. Rem doesn’t seem to know the answer to why they would be here either, other than they knew about the exit, but that doesn’t seem too likely. The Ancient Ones following behind us also confirmed that this pack’s thoughts were of a surprise to find the Hunters and werewolves here. So it put the thought that they had known about our plans aside completely now. It was a strange coincidence, and it made me wonder what the real reason was for. What was out this way that would interest this pack, if not the hidden exits for the Hunters? As we grew

  • Under the Blue Moon   Despair is My Destination

I could no longer smell anything other than the blood that had scattered over the surrounding fields. I was breathless from the constant fighting, but far fewer enemy werewolves were now trying to fight back. We had lost a few of our own but compared to them, we had made it out rather well. I felt sorry for those here. None of them had really started this entire war, but all of them had paid some kind of price. Meanwhile, their so-called leaders were still nowhere to be found. With a slight limp, I made my way across the field to where I could find Rem. He had seemed to fair much better than most of us in this fight, but I wasn’t really all that surprised by it. He was a powerful fighter and smart enough to manoeuvre a battlefield. My memories might have returned to me, but I was never a fighter, not even in my previous lives. He smiled down at me and offered my head a few loving scratches behind the ear, which set my tail into a frenzy of
