A little Catch Up
An hour passed by slowly once Rem had left me on my own. It was an odd feeling to be away from his side after having had him next to me for as long as he had been. I wasn’t sure what to do with myself for the first time since coming to Wales. I was content and happy with how things had gone with my mate, even if not everything was perfect.
I took out my phone and was about to call my mother to update her about the process of what was going on with my mate when I noticed several missed calls and texts from her. I had neglected my phone since waking up here, mostly because I thought I had lost it, and then because the battery had died and then because Mrs Emerson didn’t want to risk me summoning some werewolf army, but I had finally had it back.

As I rounded up the werewolves to head back into the guest house, things ran smoothly. The children were, as before, harder to order about, especially with how excited they all still were, but thankfully their mothers were there to help move them along. The meditation room was as tall as it was wide and fairly dark within. They impeded what little light that got into the room with a blackout curtain and only a single candle on a small shrine was lit. The air was thick with incense sticks that burned on the shrine.Rem did not move to hint that he had heard me enter. In fact, Rem seemed strangely still and quiet and not at all in any danger. Darkness surrounded me everywhere, but for some strange reason, I could see myself just fine. Looking around, I did not know where I was exactly, but it felt like I was floating in some kind of void. I was still in my wolf form, yet there was nothing to suggest I was anywhere with life or physical things, as I could feel nothing touching me, nor could I smell anything around me. I mulled over my options. I could try to walk, assuming that I could, and hope that I would eventually find something or I could call out and hope someone was nearby. Also assuming I could speak here. I saw nothing to suggest either would lead me very far, but there was nothing else to do but try. “Hello?” I attempted to call out and was pleased when my voice seemed to work. With the thought of Rem trying to protect me, I moved over to the chest and tried to pull the chains off, to no avail. There was no start or end to them, yet they kept growing and tightening around the chest slowly. I frowned deeply and looked back to Seren. She looked at me helplessly.“I tried that too, but as soon as I touched it, it ended up quickening the pace, likely because of my nature as a spirit. Rem would never trust nor allow me access,” she relayed and then looked down at the chest. “You at least do not have that effect, which means Rem must know who you are, at the very least.”“Can he hear us?” I asked Seren curiously.She seemed to mull over my question before replying with, “theoretically, he should be able to hear us, yes. No matter how many times I broke the chains surrounding the chest, more replaced them. However, they were getting slower in their attempts to lock away the spirit within. That meant our attempts were not completely futile and was giving us time to figure out a better solution to this total mess Rem was getting himself into. I still had more questions, but for now, I was trying to focus more on saving Rem from his own actions. Mulling over my options, I looked to Seren and asked, “size has no meaning here, right?” “I suppose not,” she replied thoughtfully. With a nod, I shifted back into the more wolf-like form, my size increasing rapidly until I was the size of an elephant. It was harder than I thought it would be. The form itself was familiar to me but not the size, so trying to not overthink it while still thinking about it enough to pull off was such an out of this world experience. With my ‘human’ spirit now once more joined with this half of me, I am finally able to take on my human form. I do so, double-checking for any errors in my judgement but everything looks perfect. I do have a slight glow, but nothing that would suggest I was a ‘spirit’ that Rem couldn’t trust. Or I hoped not, at the least. “I’ll make my choice. It is time to wake up,” Rem’s voice rang out to me as everything turned white. I could hear people arguing nearby as I roused from the dream I had been having. Though in my heart, I knew it had been no dream. The feel of someone’s fingers slowly stroking through the fur on my head alerted me to the fact that Rem was now awake along with me.As my eyes flickered open, the sound of the large doors into the meditation room swung open with the force of an angry person behind them. I knew I was in trouble for entering the room against Mrs Emerson’s demands, but I knew it was the right thing to do.Mrs Emerson halted as soon as she saw Rem was awake, her expression no longer furious but stunned. “So K-Ken was telling me t-that you a-are really large in y-your wolf form, Zach,” Sam stuttered sheepishly to me after we had finished eating. We were now making our way towards the gathering hall. “H-he said y-your f-fur is really s-soft too,” they continued. Every glance they made towards Ken was subtle and shy.I couldn’t help but chuckle softly to myself. “Very soft, yes,” I agreed. “Even Rem thinks so, don’t you Remmy?” I cooed playfully, which as expected, caused the man in question to blush a deep red tone.“Ugh, there is no living with either of you,” Rem mumbled towards me and Sam. I was glad. Although the wolf-spirit inside of Rem had awakened, he wasn’t any different to his usual self.I offered a playful wink towards Rem, then looked back at Sam. “I can partly transform for you, and you can see for yourself if you like?” I asked them.
