“He's too full of himself,” Evelyn remarked as she walked towards the border with Lisa.

"I did try to give you a heads-up," Lisa replied, a smug smile playing on her lips as she felt satisfied with Grayson's actions towards Evelyn.

“No one has ever spoken to me like that," Evelyn confessed, her feelings hurt by the way Grayson had addressed her.

“Sorry about that, it's not Grayson's fault. It is because of what he had been through,” Lisa pointed out.

“What has he been through? What is going on with him? Did someone break his heart?” Evelyn asked, her curiosity piqued.

“Well, something like that,” Lisa said and went further to explain what had happened to Grayson's father.

"Oh goodness! That's just awful," Evelyn exclaimed, an expression of shock on her face.

“Yeah, Grayson has been treating ladies like trash since then,” Lisa continued, providing more insight.

“How is his chosen mate handling the situation?” Evelyn inquired.

Lisa let out a subtle breath, "Well…” But before she could c

“I am not lying, please believe me, Diaba, please,” Lisa pleaded desperately, her voice filled with anguish.“I believe you, Lisa. It is okay, stop crying. It is not good for the baby please,” Diana reassured.“I don't want anything from Grayson, I just want him to take responsibility for this child. I don't want to become a laughing stock in the pack for giving birth to a pup who has no father,” Lisa lamented.“That is never going to happen, Lisa, not on my watch,” Diana said.“He doesn't want the child, Diana, he doesn't,” Lisa continued crying, refusing to be consoled.“Lisa, please, stop crying. I already told you if he denies the pregnancy, I will report him to the council of elders,” Diana urged.“Council of elders!!” Beta Luke exclaimed and continued, “I will advise you not to do that, it will further escalate Grayson's anger. You know he hates the council of elders,” “If he continues to deny Lisa's child, I'm afraid I have no choice but to report him,” Diana stated firmly.“G

Grayson was walking through the woods, trying to unwind when he heard a faint cry. He decided to ignore it as he didn't expect anyone would be in the woods.Due to the presence of dangerous creatures in the woods, the pack members rarely ventured in alone. This was why Grayson loved coming into the woods. He found solace in the peace and quietness it offers. He heard the cry the second time, this time it was a little bit louder than the first one and the voice sounded familiar."Who could be out here in the woods at this time of the day?" Grayson said to himself as he made his way toward the direction from which the cry had originated. As he approached the direction in which the sound had come from, he caught sight of a familiar figure with brown hair“Evelyn?” Grayson muttered."Why is she in the woods?" Kyle said, feeling agitated at the sight of Evelyn.Grayson noticed Evelyn grappling to free herself from something, but he couldn't discern what it was from the considerable distanc

Evelyn tried to explain what had happened in the woods to Diana, Lisa, and Beta Luke but they found it hard to believe the story, especially since Evelyn's heel, where the snake had bitten her, was now completely healed."I believe you, Evelyn. Thank goodness Grayson arrived in time to help," Lisa said, gently grasping Evelyn's hand.Diana gave Evelyn a sharp look before walking away from them.“What did he say about you not leaving the pack?” Lisa asked."I didn't even get the chance to ask him about that. I blacked out in the woods after the snake bite," Evelyn explained."Let me ask him," Beta Luke said, staring at Evelyn. He had observed the longing in Grayson's eyes while he was holding Evelyn earlier. He suspected Grayson might be interested in sleeping with Evelyn, which was likely why he was asking her to stay back.“Alpha Grayson,” Beta Luke said as he linked him.“What?” Grayson responded sharply.“Evelyn wants to know why you are stopping her from leaving the pack,” Beta Lu

“Huh, Grayson is a guy! Of course, he did it for the pleasure of it,” Lisa revealed.“Oh my goodness, you must have been so hurt,” Evelyn asked.“Not really. I was not as hurt as when my mate rejected me,” Lisa explained.“But there must have been some feelings you had for Grayson, to have agreed to something like this,” Evelyn remarked.“Not really, I did it for Diana. I owe her a lot. I owe the Woods family a lot. They took me in when I lost my parents,” Lisa said.“You grew up with Grayson and Diana?” Evelyn asked.“Yes,” Lisa responded.“But that doesn't mean you should sacrifice your happiness for them. Grayson is such a jerk, how could he sleep with you when you are practically like his sister, and now he is denying your child” Evelyn protested.Lisa smiled, “Grayson is just acting tough on the outside, and trying to build a wall around his heart so he doesn't get hurt but deep down he is not a bad person. You will find out when you get to know him,” “Get to know him! That's ne

“The council of elders has requested to have a meeting with you,” Beta Luke informed Grayson as he strode into his office. Grayson looked up from the papers he was attending to, his expression tense as he met Beta Luke's gaze with a piercing look.“Council of elders?” Grayson repeated.“Yes,” Beta Luke affirmed.“What business do I have with those bunch of old fools,” Grayson snapped.“Your sister reported the situation with Lisa to them,” Beta Luke informed. Grayson's eyes blazed a fiery red, their intensity piercing through the room as his body shook with anger. His jaw clenched tightly, the muscles in his neck visibly tensed as he struggled to contain his emotions."Warn your wife to tread carefully, she is treading on thin ice with me and I will not spare her because she is my sister," Grayson growled, his voice low and filled with a warning tone.“I tried to warn her but she didn't listen to me,” Beta Luke said.“When is the meeting?” Grayson asked.“Later today,” Beta Luke sai

Grayson sneered while casting a sharp look at the elders.“I will do no such thing. The council does not make decisions for me. I am old enough to make my own decisions,” Grayson declared.Alpha Grayson, no one is calling you a child. However, as the Alpha of our pack, certain responsibilities are expected of you, including taking a Luna. A Luna plays a crucial role as the mother figure of the pack, and your refusal to marry is causing a void in those responsibilities. We cannot ignore this matter any longer due to your personal choices, Alpha," Gaius, another elder interjected.“You can get someone to fill that position, I do not care,” Grayson said."That is unacceptable! How can we do such a thing? That is against our tradition. The Luna's position is specifically designated for the Alpha's mate," James, an elder, asserted firmly.“Do not talk to me in that tone, I am still your Alpha,” Alpha Grayson yelled, his muscles quivering.“For now,” James responded.“Is that a threat?” Alp

“Why did you piss the council off?” Beta Luke inquired as he followed Grayson outside.“Those bunch of old fools can't tell me what to do. You remember how they tried to rob me of my rights when I was young after my father's death. They wanted to make someone else Alpha, saying I was too young to lead them,” Grayson said.“I remember Alpha Grayson, the more reason you shouldn't piss them off now,” Beta Luke said in concern.“I am not afraid of them, they can not do anything to me. I think it is high time I dissolve the council, I should have done that a long time ago,” Grayson said.“Dissolve them?” Beta Luke exclaimed, shock written on his face.“You heard me right,” Grayson said.“I am afraid the pack members will not like that, Alpha,” Beta Luke said.“What value do they add to this pack other than sitting down and discussing irrelevant things? Yet, the pack pays them a huge amount of money as salary,” Alpha Grayson said.“I will suggest you tread carefully with them anyways,” Beta

Grayson crouched low as he approached the hunters' camp, his body concealed by the dense underbrush. The flickering light of campfires illuminated the area ahead, casting shadows on the crude wooden barricades surrounding the camp. He flattened himself against the cold, damp ground and crawled forward, his sharp eyes scanning the layout of the camp.“The perimeter is heavily guarded—at least ten hunters are on patrol, each armed with rifles slung over their shoulders and silver knives at their belts,” Kyle reported after taking a glance around the camp.Grayson also looked around and saw the hunters on patrol. Their movements were methodical, and their sharp eyes roamed the darkness, looking for any sign of intruders."There are too many of them," Grayson said."But they're spread out," Kyle countered. "If we take them out one by one, we can do it quietly."Grayson began calculating. “I need to move fast and remain undetected. One wrong move could alert the entire camp,” he said.He

Diana rushed into Grayson's office, her face pale with panic.“What do you mean, Luke? Who came to him? And why would he leave by himself?” Diana demanded, her voice trembling.Luke sighed, running his fingers through his hair as he tried to gather his thoughts. "A hunter came to see him. He claimed he had information about Evelyn and insisted on speaking to Grayson alone. The next thing I know, Grayson is gone. I just spoke with the guards at the southern border—they confirmed he left the pack an hour ago.”Diana's eyes widened in horror. “Why did you let him go alone, Luke? The last time he faced those hunters, we almost lost him. What if they poison him again?” She clutched her chest, tears pooling in her eyes.“I didn’t ‘let’ him go, Diana. Grayson is stubborn, and you know it. He gave no warning and left without involving anyone else. I’ve already sent a patrol after him,” Luke replied, his voice heavy with guilt.Diana shook her head furiously. “No, Luke. That’s not enough. I’m

He should try a different approach,” Grayson growled, his voice dripping with menace. The hunter smirked, undeterred. “He knew you wouldn’t believe me. That’s why he asked me to show you this.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone, showing Grayson a video of Evelyn. In it, she was tied to a tree, her face pale and bruised as she writhed in pain while being tortured. The sight triggered Kyle, Grayson’s wolf. “What could he be talking about, Evelyn? Viola said, stirring weakly in her mind.“You’re bluffing,” Evelyn rasped, though her voice quivered slightly.Jerry chuckled darkly, his grip tightening for a moment before he let her go.“Am I? Grayson is currently searching for you in the woods. He’s sent his guards to find you. And I wonder why,” Jerry sneered. “Has he forgiven you? Or perhaps he wants to punish you for the crimes you’ve been accused of?”Evelyn’s heart sank at his words, but she quickly masked her panic with a defiant glare. She refused to let Jerry see her fear.“Whatever reason he’s looking for me is none of your business,” Evelyn snapped, her voice firm despite the knots tightening in her chest.“Oh, but it is,” Jerry chuckled darkly. “Because I’m going to give him exactly what he wants.”Evelyn raised her brows in suspicion, her eyes narrowing. “You’re going to send me to him?” she asked cautiously, searching his expression.“No, silly.” Jerry leaned closer, grinning w

I won’t kill you—not yet—but that doesn’t mean I can’t make you wish for death,” he said, his laughter cruel and mocking.“You can never break me, coward,” Evelyn shot back, her voice strong despite her injuries. “Untie my hands and face me one-on-one, or are you too scared to fight me?”Jerry smirked, amused by her boldness. “I know w

Must I do everything myself?”“Boss, I think she's covering her tracks. We really searched everywhere, but there’s no sign of her,” one of the hunters reported nervously.“Maybe she’s headed back to the Silvermoon pack?” another suggested cautiously.“She wouldn’t dare. But in case that’s her plan, we extend the search deeper into the woods,” Jerry scowled. “Get the dogs. They’ll pick up her scent. We move now!”Jerry led the group of hunters and two hunt dogs back into the forest. “He was affected by the poison and recoiled deep into the corner of my mind, too weak to surface,” Grayson explained, his voice steady but laced with emotion. “The antidote worked, yes, but it took time. His healing was slower because my depression weakened him further. I didn’t realize how much my state of mind affected him until he began to recover when he sensed the pack was in danger.”Diana let out a sigh of relief, her eyes softening. “I’m so happy he’s back. I nearly lost it, Diana.”Beta Luke, who had been listening intently, chimed in. “Well, Kyle’s back, Diana’s alive, and we’re still standing. That’s worth celebrating, isn’t it?”Diana gave a small, bittersweet smile. “The celebration will only feel right when Evelyn is here with us.”Grayson’s jaw clenched, his fists tightening
