Chapter Nine

“I came to tell you I am leaving and to thank you for your hospitality,” Evelyn said before turning to walk away with her heart broken by Grayson's attitude.

"Stop right there. What did you just say to me? Who did you say is pregnant with my child?" Alpha Grayson asked in bewilderment.

"Evelyn stopped and turned back to give Grayson a response, “Are you trying to act like you don't know? Your sister told me to leave because you have a chosen mate who is expecting your pup.”

“Diana said that?” Grayson asked, puzzled by her sister's actions. She should have been the one convincing Evelyn to stay, not telling her to leave.

Evelyn shook her head, puzzled by Grayson's apparent ignorance of the situation. She couldn't shake off the feeling that this was another attempt to humiliate her, so she made up her mind to leave.

“Lisa, please show me to the main road. I am ready to leave now. I wished I had listened to you,” Evelyn said.

“Alright,” Lisa, taken aback by Evelyn's abrupt outburst, responded slowly as she began to make her way toward her."

Missy's voice resounded in Lisa's mind, expressing her frustration, “Why did she have to tell Grayson our secret? I can't stand her.”

"She's already leaving, just let her go,” 

Lisa said to Missy as she led Evelyn away from Grayson's house

Grayson, bothered by what Evelyn had said, stormed into the house to confront his sister, his expression tense.

“Diana, Diana!” Grayson called out as he entered the house.

Diana rushed out of her bedroom, wondering why Grayson was urgently calling out for her so early in the morning.

"What's going on?" Diana inquired with a furrowed brow, concern evident in her voice.

"What's this I hear about someone being pregnant with my child?" Grayson inquired with a mix of shock and uncertainty in his tone.

Diana's face paled with shock as she wondered how Grayson had learned about Lisa's pregnancy.

"How did you find out?” Diana inquired.

“Is it true, or did you just tell Evelyn to brush her off?” Grayson queried.

“Why would she want to get rid of our mate?” Kyle roared.

“Did Evelyn tell you?” Diana gasped in disbelief.

“Diana! Stop answering me with questions and explain to me right now what this whole pregnancy thing is about,” Grayson demanded authoritatively.

"Alright," Diana muttered, inwardly cursing Evelyn for her loose tongue.

"What is going on?" Beta Luke inquired as he stepped out, having overheard the argument between Grayson and Diana.

"I was planning to inform you yesterday when I learned about it, but with the arrival of that girl and the unexpected situation about her being your mate, I could not bring myself to tell you," Diana explained.

Grayson could feel his heart pounding in his chest as Diana was talking, he could read her expression and knew she was telling the truth, someone was indeed pregnant for him. 

"Can you please tell me who is pregnant with my child, Diana?" Grayson inquired calmly.

Diana glanced at Grayson nervously but steeled herself to speak up. She was determined to protect Lisa and her baby at any cost.

“Lisa is carrying your pup,” Diana slowly revealed.

“Lisa!” Grayson exclaimed. The news of the pregnancy and the revelation of the identity of the expectant mother left him in shock."

“Didn't you use protection?” Kyle scolded.

“I did, of course I protected myself,” Grayson responded.

“The baby is not mine,” Grayson said to Diana.

“You will not deny Lisa and her child Grayson. I will never allow it, first, you slept with the innocent girl, took her virginity away, and now…..”

“Wait, wait, hold it up right there, what virginity? Your friend was far from being a virgin when I slept with her and I didn't force her to do it so cut the crap you are saying. She wanted me and I gave her what she wanted,” Grayson clarified.

“She is in love with you Grayson. Why can't you see that? Lisa had loved you since we were kids” Diana cried out, disappointed at what Grayson was saying about Lisa.

“Did you plan this with her? Are you making all these up so she could become my wife?” Grayson questioned.

"I am not fabricating anything, Grayson. You slept with her, and now she is pregnant. It's time for you to own up to your responsibility," Diana asserted, prodding Grayson's chest with her finger.

"She is not pregnant with my child. The baby in her womb could never be mine, Diana, understand that," Grayson yelled at Diana, his jaw clenched tightly, eyes narrowed to slits, and his nostrils flared with every breath, a fiery glare burned in his eyes as he stared at Diana. 

"I think it will be best for both of you to calm down and talk things out calmly," Beta Luke suggested, sensing the tension between the siblings.

“Talk to your wife to stop spewing nonsense,” Grayson blurted.

“I think you should speak with Lisa,” Beta Luke suggested gently.

“You need to stop Evelyn from leaving this pack. You promised to protect her,” Kyle demanded. 

"I didn't make any promises to you. If she wants to leave, she's free to go," Grayson retorted. But the weight of his words hit him as a heavy feeling settled in his heart, recalling Evelyn's pained expression and how she seemed heartbroken.

"Why should I even care if she's heartbroken?" Grayson muttered to himself, growing increasingly frustrated with the unexpected emotions he was experiencing towards Evelyn.

“Because she is our mate,” Kyle said. 

“Will you ever let me have peace if she leaves?” Grayson asked.

Kyle chuckled and responded, “You can count on it that I won't let that happen,” 

Grayson growled in frustration and turned to Beta Luke, instructing him firmly, “Get Lisa for me and stop Evelyn from leaving this pack, they are on their way to the border.”

"Why are you stopping her from leaving?" Diana inquired, casting a suspicious gaze at her brother.
