Chapter Four

Evelyn stared at Alpha Grayson who had suddenly stopped in his tracks looking startled.

She found herself captivated by the alluring blend of Sandalwood and blueberry musk emanating from him.

A rush of emotion swept over her as she stared at the man who stood tall and proud, exuding an air of confidence and authority. His chiseled jawline, piercing gray eyes, and strong presence would command attention in any room. His broad shoulders and muscular build gave him an aura of power that seemed to radiate from within and made him stand out.

“This must be the Alpha,” Evelyn mused to herself.

Time seemed to slow down as the world around her faded away, leaving only her and this dangerously handsome Alpha locked in a silent exchange of emotions.

At that moment, she felt a surge of adrenaline, a fluttering in her chest, and an overwhelming sense of warmth spreading through her body.

Suddenly, a red line emerged from Grayson's wrist, causing him to groan out in frustration, "No, No!" The line extended towards Evelyn, wrapping around her wrist to indicate she was his mate.

Evelyn looked at the red line coiled around her wrist, and surprisingly asked, “What is happening?”

“I, Alpha Grayson of the Silvermoon Pack reject you…….,” Grayson started saying but stopped abruptly when he realized he didn't even know her name.

"What is your name?" Grayson asked in a sharp tone, his eyes glowing red.

"Evelyn Anderson" she quickly responded, completely taken aback by everything happening around her.

How could this handsome Alpha be her mate when their packs were so far apart? Back in Blackwood Pack, she had been mocked for years because she was 28, and had not yet gotten a mate, unlike her friends who had gotten their mates as early as 18.

All her friends and even those younger than her were already married to their mates and breeding pups while she remained mateless, earning her the nickname, “The mateless virgin”

“Which Pack are you from?” Grayson's voice brought her out of her thoughts.

“Blackwood Pack,” She added.

She knew what he was about to do, he was going to reject her. She had spent years longing to find her mate, yearning to have someone hold her, love her, and cherish her, praying to the moon goddess to send her prince charming.

Her father had tried to choose someone for her but they had all rejected her, believing she was cursed, and that was why the moon goddess had not given her a mate.

Evelyn concluded her pack members might be right after all because now that she met him, he was rejecting her, what an ill luck.

“I, Alpha Grayson of the Silvermoon Pack, reject you Evelyn Anderson as my mate and Luna,” Grayson said.

He could feel his wolf, Kyle, howling inside of him as he retreated to a corner of his mind.

Evelyn looked at Alpha Grayson, her eyes full of regret. What could have been the happiest day of her life had become the saddest, her hope of finding her fated mate and living happily ever after with him has been dashed.

She braced herself up as he stood there expecting her to accept the rejection. She knew she had to accept his rejection to avoid provoking him further as she could sense the anger vibrating through his entire body.

“I, Evelyn Anderson of the Blackwood Pack, accept your rejection,” Evelyn managed to say as tears ran down her cheeks.

She had felt an instant connection for him as soon as she had laid eyes on him. It was a love at first sight for her, she could even swear she felt butterflies dancing in her tummy.

The red line vanished but Evelyn and Grayson stared at each other in confusion. The rejection had failed to sever their bond! The line was meant to break before fading, but it didn't, and they could still sense the unbreakable connection between them.

Alpha Grayson stormed out of the room, bumping into Diana, who stood speechless with her mouth wide open in shock.

She had come into the room to check on Evelyn and had witnessed everything that happened, behind her was Lisa who also saw everything.

Grayson halted as he saw his sister and Lisa. He muttered a curse under his breath before issuing a stern warning, “No one is to speak of what happened here today outside of this room. If I hear even a whisper from anyone not present, there will be grave punishment”

As Grayson left, Beta Luke who was equally taken aback by everything quietly followed him.

“Who are you?!” Diana exclaimed in astonishment before she also raced after her brother, leaving Lisa and Evelyn alone in the room.

Evelyn let out a deep sigh as they all left and gently massaged her forehead, feeling a twinge of pain. The unfortunate events of the past twenty-four hours weighed heavily on her mind, prompting her to question why fate seemed to be so against her.

She couldn't help but wonder why Alpha Grayson was so angry, she could sense the anger strongly emanating from him. Was it because she was from another Pack? Or had he thought she was low in status to him? Had he taken a chosen mate and was irritated by her presence?

“Are you alright?” Lisa's voice interrupted her thoughts.

Evelyn stared at Lisa who had moved closer to her and said, “Oh yes, I am fine. Thank you.”

Lisa smiled warmly and took Evelyn's hand in hers. "You don't seem okay. Grayson's rejection must have been tough on you," she gently remarked.

“Oh, not really. I was just surprised. I didn't expect to find my mate here,” Evelyn lied.

“The Moon Goddess must have a reason for leading you here. You might be the answer to our prayers,” Lisa said.

Evelyn stared at her, puzzled by her words, and asked, "What prayer would that be?”

“I think it's best if you find out for yourself,” Lisa expressed.

"Evelyn's confusion deepened. What prayer could she possibly be the answer to? Yet, a more urgent question weighed on her mind: Would Alpha Grayson allow her to stay in the Pack considering the fact that their bond remained unbroken?
