SCOTLAND, THE UNITED KINGDOM

ARKANAS CASINO

The next morning came as if nothing had happened when the truth was that everything and more had happened. Everything around her felt different, it was like she’d woken up with Lucian’s cologne in her body, it was like his skin still burned against hers, the warmness of that morning brought a special fire with it. Whatever it was, it had to stop. That wasn’t the deal, but who was the first one to give in? She only had one thing in mind, it had to stop, she needed to stop breathing in his cologne, and stop hearing her own sounds that had filled the darkness of that night where she didn’t have control of herself.

Stuffed in a red long dress, Madeline continued her way to the casino where she was supposed to see Lucian since she’d asked about him and they had informed her that Lucian had gone to an important meeting and he couldn’t wait for her anymore. It seemed like it wasn’t going to be really difficult to go on with their lives as they used to be before what had happened between them last night. In the end, it was a mistake. Just a little game that was over the same moment when she declared to be ready to continue her work.

And like that, the morning and the afternoon went by.

They had travelled together for the third time and there was always something new about those trips. Madeline was never going to forget how surprised she was in the first trip -the kiss after they started playing the games of the casino, all of that combined with red wine. The second trip -the desperate kiss in the bathroom where cold water started falling on them. And the third and last trip -that night together. The hell! It has to end now! But how? There was no way she could leave his side after the deal they had signed. Of course he wasn’t going to let her go. That was not the deal.

Arkanas, as one of Lucian’s best casinos and now led by Madeline, was watched by the beautiful amber eyes of Lucian, who was on the second floor. He, swirling his tequila in his right hand, wearing a grey suit, with a fine line in his thick lips, couldn’t stop looking at the divine image of the woman who had decided to wear a red dress for that day. She smiled, she observed, and she managed the casino. For the first time in the evening, Lucian smiled. It was true that he’d had a meeting in the afternoon, but then he was free. No woman had ever made him feel like she did last night. No woman had made him wonder things that he never had. No woman had made him feel ashamed of himself. The truth was that he had never desired the same woman two times. And that was exactly what he was feeling as he saw her walking around and making sure that everything was working as it should be, it must be.

He shook his head before drinking from his tequila and snapped his fingers at the men who were always behind him to fulfill his desires and watch over the underworld of the Son of Hades.

“Yes, sir?” One of the men approached him.

“I want that woman in my office.”

“Yes, sir.”

Lucian looked at the man since he was still there. “I want that woman now!”

The men ran off, scared.

Lucian looked at the woman in the red dress for the last time and then went to his office. He had never desired the same woman two times, and now all he could think about was the way he was going to tear apart that dress, lift her up and make her sit on his desk, to look at the perfection embodying his desire in her.

But it seemed like destiny had something else prepared for him. What he didn’t notice while he was watching Madeline being, was the pair of deep brown eyes that stare at him in the distance. She was not willing to give up. She was not willing to stop herself until she could feel him in her again.

As soon as she noticed that Lucian gave orders to his men while he walked towards his office, Leona got up from her place and made her way to him. Again.

In a black short dress, her curly hair bathing her bare shoulders, she went upstairs.

Lucian would indeed get a little surprised.

Impatiently, Lucian walked back and forth in his office. It was the second time that he had poured himself a drink. Stupidly impatient, he loosened the knot of his tie and tried to wait patiently for the woman who was turning his damn world upside down.

The sound of heels approaching set his skin on fire, he was becoming a fucking teenager! Come on! He didn’t even remember those days! He didn’t even remember if he indeed had those days or he just jumped to his adulthood and his life of shit started. But then he met that woman and everything changed.

Lucian turned his back to the door and drank his tequila. How was he supposed to talk to her? What could be the phrase to open the conversation? Was she going to let him in her hell again?

Three knocks on the door were heard.

“Come on in!” Fuck! He shouldn’t have sounded too pleased.

The door opened. Lucian didn’t look behind. Once again, the door closed. It was obvious, Madeline was already inside. He couldn’t show himself too excited to have her there, right?

Inside, the woman of the red heels unzipped her dress until this one slid down from her body. When Lucian heard that, he turned around immediately.

Lucian frowned. “What the hell are you doing here, Leona?”

Leona smiled and, with a hand on her waist, walked to Lucian. She was in her black underwear and despite Lucian having already seen it last night, suddenly it was no longer provocative when Leona wore it. Yes, Leona was beautiful, her tan skin, her firm breast, flat stomach, and long legs, but Lucian didn’t feel anything.

“Tell me, are you going to resist this?” She passed her hand through her stomach until she reached her firm breast. “Just tell me what to do and I’m ready to fulfill your darkest fantasies,” she said, putting her arms around his neck.

It was not her perfume, it was not her lips, it was not her fire… Fuck! The woman in front of him wasn’t Madeline.

“It’s enough, Leona,” he rejected her. But Leona just smiled as Lucian went to pick up her dress. “Please, cover yourself.”

Leona took the dress from his hand with her teeth and spat it away, laughing. “I think it’s time to get myself rid of this.” Leona tried to take off her bra but Lucian went to her and grabbed her wrists until he pushed to the wall behind her. Leona seemed to get excited when he took her that way, she even moaned, what exasperated Lucian.

“You’re doing good again, Son of Hades.”

“It’s enough, Leona! Wake up!”

“Your hands on my waist, holding me closer, as your lips kissed my neck, my breast,” she closed her eyes as she started passing one of her hands over her breast, “I still remember your cold lips in my legs, my abdomen until… you went a little down and…”

Lucian lifted up Leona and she tangled her legs around his waist so he could walk with her and when he reached his desk, he forced her to sit. Leona moaned. And when she thought she was finally going to have what she wanted all along, soon she realized her mistake.

“Look at me, Leona! Look at me!” He grabbed her face. “This has to end, Leona! You need to understand we can’t, we can’t have anything because…”

“Because you like her, right? You wish to have her right here right now, right?!” Leona shouted.

Lucian backed up. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Yes! I’m talking about her! I’m talking about Madeline! That fucking bitch-”

Lucian didn’t let her finish and grabbed her face again. “Do not ever ever dare to talk about her like that!”

“You like her, right? Come on! Lucian, she’s a fucking bitch whom you adopted! You don’t know when she can accuse you to the authorities when she discovers what a fucking mafia boss you are!”

“She already knows and you know what she did? Nothing! She did nothing!”

But what Lucian had forgotten was that he had ordered to bring Madeline to his room.

Nervously walking, Madeline sighed. How was she going to talk to him after what had happened between them? Was he going to fire her? Was he going to say the typical thing that men like him said -No, everything was a mistake? Anyway, she had to act better than him.

Suddenly, she heard Lucian shouting at someone. She didn’t know that Lucian was busy with something… or someone. Maybe, it’d be better to leave it like that, but when she was about to walk back the same way when she heard her name. And that tone of voice. Lucian had defended her. He was fighting with Leona, her worst enemy.

“Why, Lucian? Why her? I can be more of a woman than she can be and you know that! Stop this nonsense and don’t come across as the saint you are not! We two had sex! We were together once, don’t pretend something that didn’t happen!”

Outside the office, Madeline smiled in disbelief. It couldn’t be possible! For the second time it couldn’t be possible! And when Madeline thought that Lucian was a different person, a different man, it was obvious that he had also fooled her. Once again Leona was there, and she’d had something to do with Lucian. How come the world could be so small! First, it was Leona who destroyed her marriage and now it was Leona again who had a past with Lucian too.

“Please, I ask you to put your clothes on and leave. What happened between us was a mistake!”

“Remember, Lucian, soon you’ll get back to me on your knees!”

“Leave, Leona!”

“Of course, my dear brother! Of course!” Then, Leona opened the door just to end up finding Madeline in front of her.

The truth had been said and now Madeline knew it all.

But… How did everything start? Some years had already gone by since the first betrayal, yet she never gave up, yet she knew there was someone next to her who was always going to need her and it was for that little person that she decided to go on… Maybe, luck was going to smile on her soon. Friday night, the same routine that never let go of her since she started that new life. It was exactly the kind of life she had never expected to live, but it was always better than knowing her little miracle was going to bed with an empty stomach. She didn’t care about who she was in the past or who she was married to before his damn betrayal, none of that mattered now because the only thing that occupied her mind was knowing she was well hidden so the bastard who did that to her would never find her. Friday night and nothing changed. The loud noises, the music that she couldn't tolerate and its obscene lyrics, the young women who had to wear those black short skirts and white blouse with thre

Walking among the tables, April made sure that all the clients were well served, nothing was lacking because the better service she gave to the clients, the better her own would be. Even if people thought that she worked in that place doing things that were not right for a single mother, the reality was that maApril de a different kind of living. Yes! There were women who were always ready to do an extra job in order to get some more bills, but April was not one of them. Slowly, she learned that every person had a reason to do things that might be questionable for others, and she had to respect that because she also had a reason to be working there even when she was already a mother. Suddenly, darkness and pure evil fell in that place without April herself having seen it coming, a bar that consisted of two floors with the men with a little more money upstairs because if there was something to be said it was that people with a lot of money did not usually go to that bar. So what was

It was always the same story of her life, but the difference was that now there was a fucking bastard who wasn’t going to leave that bar empty-headed. From the mere instant his lascive eyes fell on her, he knew that there was no other woman who could compare to her. There was something about her that drove him wild, maybe it was the way she tried so desperately to cover her breast or her ass without leaving behind her elegance. She was not like the women working there, she was a diamond among stones because while the others were willing to do anything and everything at once just to get an extra tip, there she was, getting offended by the way that bastard had talked to her. Come on! All women were the same, the only difference was in the gap between women who were quick to accept that extra tip and those who played hard to get. On the floor, with tears falling from her eyes, she still had time to think about how weak those tears might her see if that fucking bastard looked at them.

In a hurry, April approached the bar where her friend was serving the drinks. Adele worried at the mere instant she noticed that her friend was approaching in such a way. She didn’t look like the strong girl who was willing to face the whole world in order to get money for her son and make him live in the happiest way she can. “What’s going on, April? Are you okay, darling?” April sighed. She didn’t want to cry, she didn’t want to show her how fragile she was, she just wanted to face the world for her son as she’d always done. But if there was someone whom she couldn’t lie to, that was Adele. “April, what’s going on?” Adele raised her voice a little.April just shook her head. “April, a bastard tried to do something to you?” Adele knew very well that if there was a way to mess up with her, it was by molesting her. April shook her head again. “No, it’s nothing. It’s nothing, Adele.” “Tell me what’s wrong and I swear I’lll kill that bastard who-” “Adele!” A third voice shouted.

As last month, April had gone to her medical appointment but in the same way as the last three times, April had gone alone. Her gynecologist had asked the same question, why isn’t your husband here? And she replied the same, “he’s been working so much. He wants to give the best of the best to our baby.” “But you are one of the richest families in the city.” And with that, the doctor left her speechless. When the doctor understood that he had no right to talk about things he didn’t know, he decided to go to the bottom. Soon, April was gonna give birth to a beautiful baby and she needed to be okay until that moment arrived and, of course, for the rest of her days since her baby was going to need her forever. April agreed and promised the doctor that she was going to be okay for her baby, for herself, and for her husband because if there was something true that was that April loved her husband more than she could love herself. But all of that changed that day when she arrived earlier th

Leona woke up from her nightmare that, of course, felt like a dream since everything started. It is said that what is obtained the hard way is always destined to be taken away the same way. How was it possible that the human being was capable of living in the same emotional and sentimental emptiness in order to have all that he envied in the beginning?Six years had gone by since the last time Leona had seen her friend, the same one who had said a thousand times that she was her friend, the best, the best of all, the best of a group of women who had known each other to the most intimate of secrets.Through Leona’s mind passed those six years that now seemed to be nothing more than years of a past life, a life that she did not want to accept as hers. She finally had it all, she had the last name she envied April so much, she had married her best friend's man and above all, she had managed to conceive the heir to that company, or at least that was what everyone thought. April was running back and forth while her son just watched her sitting in his chair while he finished his breakfast. If his mother had only arrived earlier, she wouldn't be like this, running from one side to the other. But what little Mateo didn't know was that he was all his mother's illusion, everything she needed to keep her going. The beautiful smile of her son drawn on his face shone brighter than ever, since that little angel was brought into her life as a miracle, she could no longer see beyond that pair of brown eyes where she couldn't help but see the vivid image of that man she once came to love with all her heart. It was unbelievable that all that love she once felt for him would end like that. Of course it was the father of that baby who caused her the worst pain, but that didn’t mean she didn’t love her son any less. In the end, her baby was innocent, that baby of hers never chose to have such a father. That baby of hers had come to life and was grateful for that. Th

All that could be heard after was a scream. Inside, the driver took off his dark glasses as soon as he realized what he had done while Lucian couldn’t even blink. Maybe it hadn’t been the driver’s fault, but in the end, the result was the same, a woman had been hit by a car and none of the people inside were aware of how serious the hit could have been. “What the hell did you do?” Manuel, Lucian’s friend, shouted.“I don't know, sir, I don't know, she just crossed the avenue without watching!” Said the man in complete panic. He didn’t know if he'd killed her. “Get out of the damn car and see what happened!” Manuel ordered. Without further ado, the man got out to see what he had done. Right behind the driver, Manuel got out and then, some seconds later, Lucian did the same. Of course it had been an accident, of course Manuel knew how to reward that misfortune to the person who was in the ground, but the truth was Manuel didn’t know what he could expect from that person. When they were in front of each other, looking into each other’s eyes, Leona couldn’t hide that desire that was seeing through her eyes, but Lucian knew how to react right away and hugged his half-sister. He preferred to avoid that look in his half-sister’s eyes and offered her a hug. He was glad he did it because Leona started crying on his shoulder. “What happened, Leona? What happened?” Leona smiled between tears. “Lucian… Lucian, it was… it was my friend. The police found the remains of my friend. She disappeared from our lives 6 years ago, I thought she’d gone away, and indeed… she has gone away…” Leona said. “I want to prepare her funeral, I want to give her my last farewell. I want to… do the best for her… But I don’t know how… I don’t know how…” “I’m gonna help you, Leona. I’m gonna help you.” Leona smiled again. After noticing the way she looked at the place, Lucian finally smiled. That was the last thing he would have expected, at the end of the day if he had managed to impress her with everything he had there. If only he knew the work she was about to do in that place, he would make her feel like she owned it all.“Come in, come in, please,” said Lucian, showing her around. What could one say about this space? No more than a large library, a large space in which all business seemed to be done there, she remembered her life, she remembered the space in which she lived but was never happy and too late she realized it. But now that she had her son by her side, now that she had nothing else in the world, she felt that her son was enough to make her happy.“There is a lot to talk about, I hope you can listen until I finish talking. I promise I will answer all your questions until the end, just until the end,” said the man, taking some documents that he had kept perfectly. That was no more than t

Laughing with mockery, Leona walked down the stairs as she continued laughing at the words that he had said to her husband. She was such a bitch, she was such a cold-hearted woman who didn’t feel anything, who just worked for her own interest and even her son was part of those businesses she initiated. Finally, when she reached the office, she sat on the leather chair and started smiling at her memories. Those memories that made her happy and made her know that she was capable of everything. If she’d had Lucian in her depths, it was possible to have him not twice, not thrice, countless times, as many times as she wanted. Suddenly, the phone rang. She rolled her eyes and picked up. “Mrs. Acosa speaking. What do you want?” She said. “Mrs. Acosta?” “Yes, what can I do for you?” “I’m officer Luna. I have important news to share with you.” “What are you talking about?”“We found a body in the ravines. Mrs. Acosta, it looks like your friend’s remains had been rescued and we can of

The day I allow you to buy something for me or for my son again, it will be because I will have earned it with my work, okay?”Lucian looked at her as he had rarely looked at a woman. She was a brave woman, a woman capable of anything, a woman who would make it to heaven if she wanted to do it. She liked her and she was the kind of woman he needed to feel capable in front of any power that would fall into his hands. The indications were clear enough to. “But not everything can be perfect, dear April.” April didn’t say anything but the disappointment was obvious. • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 18

It was ten o'clock in the morning and a woman with a glass of red wine, unable to stop smiling over and over again at the memory she had in her mind. Everything had been so fast, not even she herself had realized the whole day had been spent in the same way, thinking about the same person she shouldn't, what no one knew was that she was a damn shameless, a woman who didn't care about anything but her new prey. And that was the case with Leona at that moment, that smile full of vanity, that way she sat, that way she looked at nothingness and at the same time, at everything because it was in that nothingness where her everything was. All that she saw as her sole purpose. Suddenly, she got up from the place that her husband was supposed to be using at that hour, but being the man he was, Leona was the one who best occupied that place. She had a new idea in her mind, that man, she would never forget the impulse, the beat her heart felt every time she saw that man full of power. That w

Lucian felt disgusted by the image. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. For an instant, the great Mr. Sadharthe didn’t know what to do. His eyes, his gestures, his body… his entire body stopped. It was like the image had injected him with a dose of sedative. It was obvious, that image that he imagined not to ever see again was in front of his eyes. But now that he had the opportunity to change all that he couldn’t before, Lucian decided to act. He allowed himself to feel all that hatred and then, when his body acted by hatred before conscience, Lucian Sadharthe threw himself at the man who was on top of April while she was begging for help. When the manager realized that someone had indeed arrived when he’d thought otherwise, the manager’s gesture changed completely. He was trying to say something when Lucian didn’t wait any longer and hit him. April immediately got up and tried to cover herself with a blouse that was on the floor when Adele came into the room. With slow steps and being the powerful man Lucian could be in the world, he approached the woman. He had never seen so much beauty in a woman, and perhaps what he did not understand was that it was possible to see such a dazzling woman. It was true that many, many women had passed through the bed of that man who was more handsome than any movie actor, but none with the grace and divinity of the woman he had in front of him. She was really different, she was everything he could be looking for and now that he thought about it, it could be exactly that way she acted, the same way she had let him know that she was not like other women and that she had respect for herself. As she put it, no matter how many more jobs she had to get for her son, she would do it without further ado but she was never going to work at what the women of Lucian had worked at, she had respect for her son and for herself. Maybe that was what made her more beautiful than all the women that had been in his bed.“Com

Now he was her only salvation, and he liked that. He liked to be someone for her, he was starting to like the idea of being needed. “I know you can say ‘no’ to some things but there are others you can’t. You’re too stubborn, April.”April looked at Lucian with watery eyes. When she thought there was no salvation for her, it was the man she thought the least who came to save her. She was in debt to him. She owed him and she wasn’t the kind of woman who left without finishing her business. But that wasn’t the best moment to talk about it or to think about it. April couldn't help but feel how her legs started trembling. She couldn't look into his eyes, she was a prey of that man, she was a prey of his power. April knew that the man could do anything and everything to her and she wasn’t going to do anything. Well, it seemed like the news her friend had sprung on her had affected her more than she thought. That man in front of her was no more than pure temptation and power. She could know that by the way he dared to look at her, as if she was a mere land he wanted and needed to own. But of course those were thoughts she got rid of as soon as she understood that it was not possible for a man as powerful as him to be so kind to her for another reason that wasn’t just being kind. “Mr. Sadharthe?” She whispered and lowered her head.
