But… How did everything start? Some years had already gone by since the first betrayal, yet she never gave up, yet she knew there was someone next to her who was always going to need her and it was for that little person that she decided to go on… Maybe, luck was going to smile on her soon.

Friday night, the same routine that never let go of her since she started that new life. It was exactly the kind of life she had never expected to live, but it was always better than knowing her little miracle was going to bed with an empty stomach. She didn’t care about who she was in the past or who she was married to before his damn betrayal, none of that mattered now because the only thing that occupied her mind was knowing she was well hidden so the bastard who did that to her would never find her.

Friday night and nothing changed. The loud noises, the music that she couldn't tolerate and its obscene lyrics, the young women who had to wear those black short skirts and white blouse with three buttons down that showed off her curves and which was the uniform of that place along with all those men who were always going to have fun and have a good time for a moment while she had to tolerate them for the money they paid her for the mere fact of being her who brought the drinks to those who were always over-drunk.

No matter how long she’d been working in places like that one, she was never going to get used to the smell that drunk men gave off along with those lewd glances that undressed her. It had been more than three years since the day she realized that she was always going to earn two times more as a waitress at midnight than cleaning bathrooms and floors of a more decent company. But nothing of that mattered as long as she had her little miracle by her side, that was how she called him, her little miracle since his birth was a total miracle. The eclipse of love.

Once again the smell of cigarettes, as it was every weekend, entered the lungs of that woman who had been breathing the same smell for years. Maybe one day her luck would change, she really hoped so before her son could know the reason why she had to disappear at nights and never be with him to watch over his sleep as any other mother would do at that time of the night.

The tables began to fill up, some came and some went in the company of friends, groups of friends and work colleagues who were just looking to de-stress a little after such a hard week of work.

April sighed when she saw more and more men coming into the bar. Surely, it was going to be a long night.

“What’s up, April?” The woman with the rebellious blonde hair asked as she watched the way her friend leaned against the same bar and then rested her head in her hands. Her name was Adela and she’d been the only good friend that had turned up into April’s life.

The night was just beginning and April seemed to have already lost all the energy she had saved in all those days waiting for the weekend. That bar only opened its doors from Friday to Sunday, but the days that were between her hell and her paradise were never enough to psyche out about the destiny that was coming every weekend.

April just raised her head in a stressed way. It was unbelievable what the woman in front was asking her when it was already more than obvious the answer she was going to give her.

“I’m exhausted. And this fucking skirt that doesn’t help,” April complained as she stretched her skirt down, trying to cover more that the skirt should.

Adela laughed. “Do you want me to bring the religious dress?”

April gave her her worst look. “Hahaha, very funny. Adela, I’m dying to go home.”

“It's too early for you to say it, you know perfectly well that the night is just beginning and the bills are about to fall so suck it up.”

“I hate the way those fucking teenagers are looking at me every time I bend down to get their drinks,” April pointed at one of the tables where four young men were drinking and laughing. “I’m a mother! I wonder if they’d look at me in the same way if they knew that I have a five-year-old waiting for me at home.”

Adela laughed again.

“I can't stand the damn stare of so many of them. I don’t know what I’m doing here.”

“Really? Do you want me to remind you the reason why you are here?”

April just looked at her friend and then took her tray with the next round of drinks for the young men who surely were going to leave her some bills if she was willing to bend down a little more.

It was going to be a long night as her friend had already told her, April only hoped that in the end there would be more bills to count than drunken men staring at her.

But what no one knew was that our destinies can change any second, any day of the week.

******

Friday night and nothing changed. It was past midnight when the underworld opened its gates to let the son of Hades to come out of his world and play with the reality of others. He was tired of the same routine and it was after a couple of years that he dared to make a visit to that bar. 00:23, that was the time he read on the watch on his wrist which, surely, was worth the price of the car where he was travelling around the city.

With slight movements, the view could be described as the one we see when a scene is shown on television in slow motion. A black suit, legs slightly apart from each other, shoes well polished, one of his arms resting on the frame of the glass through which the man looked while in the other hand he had that cell phone that would not stop ringing unless he turned it off. The tie around his neck was wine-colored along with the white shirt. Not much could be appreciated but the image was as perfect as that well worked masculine physique. On the neck, one of the veins stood out, as well as on the hands. A man was arriving at the bar that had not been open long.

Anyone who saw him traveling in that van, dressed in a way that made the women who knew him go crazy, would know that he was a mysterious man, a man who didn't talk more than he should. A man who was hiding so much more than his identity because that man in the black van was hiding his second life.

And if mysteries could be brought to life, they would surely say that they would have taken the body of that mysterious man as if he were the son of the devil. The same one described as the most handsome and powerful young man. What could be his name? If only they could imagine that the name of that one could be the most handsome and powerful young man. By day one and by night another.

Meanwhile some were falling into a pool full of money, there were others who were struggling to get out of there with a couple of additional bills to buy something for their little miracles and draw a curve line on their lips.

With his amber eyes, Lucian looked through the glass. The loud music reaching his ears, making him smile in a lopsided way. The bar seemed to be working as the other 10 he owned.

“Go very slowly,” he said to his personal driver, “it is said that things are better seen when there is no hurry.” That masculine tone of voice that would sick countless women echoed in the space of that van. There was nothing that was missing in him. There was nothing that he could envy of other men when the truth was that he had everything on his side, ready to be used when he wanted at the time he felt like.

And just like that, a black car with tinted windows approached the bar.

A secret to discover, a lover to meet, a heart to change its course and two destinies that were about to become one. How small the world was when it came to conspire against us! April, the young April and the one who was a naive girl in the past, was to realize too late that there are secrets that were better not to keep.

April, the name of a woman who obtained everything just by proposing it.

Son of Hades, a two-faced man who knew nothing.

Walking among the tables, April made sure that all the clients were well served, nothing was lacking because the better service she gave to the clients, the better her own would be. Even if people thought that she worked in that place doing things that were not right for a single mother, the reality was that maApril de a different kind of living. Yes! There were women who were always ready to do an extra job in order to get some more bills, but April was not one of them. Slowly, she learned that every person had a reason to do things that might be questionable for others, and she had to respect that because she also had a reason to be working there even when she was already a mother. Suddenly, darkness and pure evil fell in that place without April herself having seen it coming, a bar that consisted of two floors with the men with a little more money upstairs because if there was something to be said it was that people with a lot of money did not usually go to that bar. So what was

It was always the same story of her life, but the difference was that now there was a fucking bastard who wasn’t going to leave that bar empty-headed. From the mere instant his lascive eyes fell on her, he knew that there was no other woman who could compare to her. There was something about her that drove him wild, maybe it was the way she tried so desperately to cover her breast or her ass without leaving behind her elegance. She was not like the women working there, she was a diamond among stones because while the others were willing to do anything and everything at once just to get an extra tip, there she was, getting offended by the way that bastard had talked to her. Come on! All women were the same, the only difference was in the gap between women who were quick to accept that extra tip and those who played hard to get. On the floor, with tears falling from her eyes, she still had time to think about how weak those tears might her see if that fucking bastard looked at them.

In a hurry, April approached the bar where her friend was serving the drinks. Adele worried at the mere instant she noticed that her friend was approaching in such a way. She didn’t look like the strong girl who was willing to face the whole world in order to get money for her son and make him live in the happiest way she can. “What’s going on, April? Are you okay, darling?” April sighed. She didn’t want to cry, she didn’t want to show her how fragile she was, she just wanted to face the world for her son as she’d always done. But if there was someone whom she couldn’t lie to, that was Adele. “April, what’s going on?” Adele raised her voice a little.April just shook her head. “April, a bastard tried to do something to you?” Adele knew very well that if there was a way to mess up with her, it was by molesting her. April shook her head again. “No, it’s nothing. It’s nothing, Adele.” “Tell me what’s wrong and I swear I’lll kill that bastard who-” “Adele!” A third voice shouted.

As last month, April had gone to her medical appointment but in the same way as the last three times, April had gone alone. Her gynecologist had asked the same question, why isn’t your husband here? And she replied the same, “he’s been working so much. He wants to give the best of the best to our baby.” “But you are one of the richest families in the city.” And with that, the doctor left her speechless. When the doctor understood that he had no right to talk about things he didn’t know, he decided to go to the bottom. Soon, April was gonna give birth to a beautiful baby and she needed to be okay until that moment arrived and, of course, for the rest of her days since her baby was going to need her forever. April agreed and promised the doctor that she was going to be okay for her baby, for herself, and for her husband because if there was something true that was that April loved her husband more than she could love herself. But all of that changed that day when she arrived earlier th

Leona woke up from her nightmare that, of course, felt like a dream since everything started. It is said that what is obtained the hard way is always destined to be taken away the same way. How was it possible that the human being was capable of living in the same emotional and sentimental emptiness in order to have all that he envied in the beginning?Six years had gone by since the last time Leona had seen her friend, the same one who had said a thousand times that she was her friend, the best, the best of all, the best of a group of women who had known each other to the most intimate of secrets.Through Leona’s mind passed those six years that now seemed to be nothing more than years of a past life, a life that she did not want to accept as hers. She finally had it all, she had the last name she envied April so much, she had married her best friend's man and above all, she had managed to conceive the heir to that company, or at least that was what everyone thought. With a bouque

April was running back and forth while her son just watched her sitting in his chair while he finished his breakfast. If his mother had only arrived earlier, she wouldn't be like this, running from one side to the other. But what little Mateo didn't know was that he was all his mother's illusion, everything she needed to keep her going. The beautiful smile of her son drawn on his face shone brighter than ever, since that little angel was brought into her life as a miracle, she could no longer see beyond that pair of brown eyes where she couldn't help but see the vivid image of that man she once came to love with all her heart. It was unbelievable that all that love she once felt for him would end like that. Of course it was the father of that baby who caused her the worst pain, but that didn’t mean she didn’t love her son any less. In the end, her baby was innocent, that baby of hers never chose to have such a father. That baby of hers had come to life and was grateful for that. Th

All that could be heard after was a scream. Inside, the driver took off his dark glasses as soon as he realized what he had done while Lucian couldn’t even blink. Maybe it hadn’t been the driver’s fault, but in the end, the result was the same, a woman had been hit by a car and none of the people inside were aware of how serious the hit could have been. “What the hell did you do?” Manuel, Lucian’s friend, shouted.“I don't know, sir, I don't know, she just crossed the avenue without watching!” Said the man in complete panic. He didn’t know if he'd killed her. “Get out of the damn car and see what happened!” Manuel ordered. Without further ado, the man got out to see what he had done. Right behind the driver, Manuel got out and then, some seconds later, Lucian did the same. Of course it had been an accident, of course Manuel knew how to reward that misfortune to the person who was in the ground, but the truth was Manuel didn’t know what he could expect from that person. April continued on her way after what had happened to her. When she knew she was away from the man, she finally was able to stop and take a look at her knee as if the hands of that handsome man had printed on her skin. She couldn’t help but smile. It was true that their first encounter wasn’t the best of the best, he even seemed to be bothered by having found her on the floor. The second time they looked at each other, he defended her, saying that she didn’t do the kind of job the other men he was with were expecting from her, and the last time, he showed himself as a man full of kindness. April’s depths burned when she felt the warm skin on her knee. It was a total experience. Finally, when she felt ready to continue her day and she realized the time she was arriving at her job, April lined up a little more and tried to cover her knee as she entered. Two other co-workers entered with her. “Good morning, April,” said one of the girls there.“Good morning!” She greeted them happily.

When they were in front of each other, looking into each other’s eyes, Leona couldn’t hide that desire that was seeing through her eyes, but Lucian knew how to react right away and hugged his half-sister. He preferred to avoid that look in his half-sister’s eyes and offered her a hug. He was glad he did it because Leona started crying on his shoulder. “What happened, Leona? What happened?” Leona smiled between tears. “Lucian… Lucian, it was… it was my friend. The police found the remains of my friend. She disappeared from our lives 6 years ago, I thought she’d gone away, and indeed… she has gone away…” Leona said. “I want to prepare her funeral, I want to give her my last farewell. I want to… do the best for her… But I don’t know how… I don’t know how…” “I’m gonna help you, Leona. I’m gonna help you.” Leona smiled again. It seemed that she’d found the best method to get closer to Lucian. She didn’t know how long it would take her, but she was going to have that man right into her

  • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 21

After noticing the way she looked at the place, Lucian finally smiled. That was the last thing he would have expected, at the end of the day if he had managed to impress her with everything he had there. If only he knew the work she was about to do in that place, he would make her feel like she owned it all.“Come in, come in, please,” said Lucian, showing her around. What could one say about this space? No more than a large library, a large space in which all business seemed to be done there, she remembered her life, she remembered the space in which she lived but was never happy and too late she realized it. But now that she had her son by her side, now that she had nothing else in the world, she felt that her son was enough to make her happy.“There is a lot to talk about, I hope you can listen until I finish talking. I promise I will answer all your questions until the end, just until the end,” said the man, taking some documents that he had kept perfectly. That was no more than t

  • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 20

Laughing with mockery, Leona walked down the stairs as she continued laughing at the words that he had said to her husband. She was such a bitch, she was such a cold-hearted woman who didn’t feel anything, who just worked for her own interest and even her son was part of those businesses she initiated. Finally, when she reached the office, she sat on the leather chair and started smiling at her memories. Those memories that made her happy and made her know that she was capable of everything. If she’d had Lucian in her depths, it was possible to have him not twice, not thrice, countless times, as many times as she wanted. Suddenly, the phone rang. She rolled her eyes and picked up. “Mrs. Acosa speaking. What do you want?” She said. “Mrs. Acosta?” “Yes, what can I do for you?” “I’m officer Luna. I have important news to share with you.” “What are you talking about?”“We found a body in the ravines. Mrs. Acosta, it looks like your friend’s remains had been rescued and we can of

“Tomorrow a van will pick you up and take you to my mansion, tell me where you want me to meet you and my men will be there waiting for you. Prepare your things and your son's things. Or if you don't want to bring anything, I'll buy everything. I don’t really care.”“No, no, the truth is that it is not necessary. The day I allow you to buy something for me or for my son again, it will be because I will have earned it with my work, okay?”Lucian looked at her as he had rarely looked at a woman. She was a brave woman, a woman capable of anything, a woman who would make it to heaven if she wanted to do it. She liked her and she was the kind of woman he needed to feel capable in front of any power that would fall into his hands. The indications were clear enough to. “But not everything can be perfect, dear April.” April didn’t say anything but the disappointment was obvious. She herself knew that nothing could be perfect in the world and hearing her future boss saying those words, it wa

  • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 18

It was ten o'clock in the morning and a woman with a glass of red wine, unable to stop smiling over and over again at the memory she had in her mind. Everything had been so fast, not even she herself had realized the whole day had been spent in the same way, thinking about the same person she shouldn't, what no one knew was that she was a damn shameless, a woman who didn't care about anything but her new prey. And that was the case with Leona at that moment, that smile full of vanity, that way she sat, that way she looked at nothingness and at the same time, at everything because it was in that nothingness where her everything was. All that she saw as her sole purpose. Suddenly, she got up from the place that her husband was supposed to be using at that hour, but being the man he was, Leona was the one who best occupied that place. She had a new idea in her mind, that man, she would never forget the impulse, the beat her heart felt every time she saw that man full of power. That w

  • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 17

Lucian felt disgusted by the image. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. For an instant, the great Mr. Sadharthe didn’t know what to do. His eyes, his gestures, his body… his entire body stopped. It was like the image had injected him with a dose of sedative. It was obvious, that image that he imagined not to ever see again was in front of his eyes. But now that he had the opportunity to change all that he couldn’t before, Lucian decided to act. He allowed himself to feel all that hatred and then, when his body acted by hatred before conscience, Lucian Sadharthe threw himself at the man who was on top of April while she was begging for help. When the manager realized that someone had indeed arrived when he’d thought otherwise, the manager’s gesture changed completely. He was trying to say something when Lucian didn’t wait any longer and hit him. April immediately got up and tried to cover herself with a blouse that was on the floor when Adele came into the room. She covered her mou

  • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 16

With slow steps and being the powerful man Lucian could be in the world, he approached the woman. He had never seen so much beauty in a woman, and perhaps what he did not understand was that it was possible to see such a dazzling woman. It was true that many, many women had passed through the bed of that man who was more handsome than any movie actor, but none with the grace and divinity of the woman he had in front of him. She was really different, she was everything he could be looking for and now that he thought about it, it could be exactly that way she acted, the same way she had let him know that she was not like other women and that she had respect for herself. As she put it, no matter how many more jobs she had to get for her son, she would do it without further ado but she was never going to work at what the women of Lucian had worked at, she had respect for her son and for herself. Maybe that was what made her more beautiful than all the women that had been in his bed.“Com

In front of her eyes, that well-dressed man took off his jacket and as soon as he was in front of her, he knew how to put the coat on her body, protecting her from all the pervert looks of the men. Now he was her only salvation, and he liked that. He liked to be someone for her, he was starting to like the idea of being needed. “I know you can say ‘no’ to some things but there are others you can’t. You’re too stubborn, April.”April looked at Lucian with watery eyes. When she thought there was no salvation for her, it was the man she thought the least who came to save her. She was in debt to him. She owed him and she wasn’t the kind of woman who left without finishing her business. But that wasn’t the best moment to talk about it or to think about it. April just wanted to get out of there and forget about everything that had happened. But when April looked into his eyes with those perfect emeralds she had for eyes. April was so beautiful, everything about her was perfect, pure pe

  • UNDER HADES' RULES   CHAPTER 14

April couldn't help but feel how her legs started trembling. She couldn't look into his eyes, she was a prey of that man, she was a prey of his power. April knew that the man could do anything and everything to her and she wasn’t going to do anything. Well, it seemed like the news her friend had sprung on her had affected her more than she thought. That man in front of her was no more than pure temptation and power. She could know that by the way he dared to look at her, as if she was a mere land he wanted and needed to own. But of course those were thoughts she got rid of as soon as she understood that it was not possible for a man as powerful as him to be so kind to her for another reason that wasn’t just being kind. “Mr. Sadharthe?” She whispered and lowered her head. Lucian smiled. “So you already know who I am?” “Mr. Sadhathe, I’m so sorry for not having recognized you before. I should’ve given you a better service.” Lucian looked at the small and delicate body of the woman i
