Though the engagement has been kept on the wrap, especially from the press, so she would not find out, the higher class of the business world already knew of the trade marriage oops, sorry, I mean arranged marriage đ. So it wasnât uncommon for President Zander to be aware of her engagement.
Jade Greeleyâs stoic face did not show that she was bemused about what President Zander said, especially as he was congratulating her.
Was it on her achievement, or was there something else? She was not sure, so she just responded while half-smiling, âI see nothing gets past you, President Zander. Shall we get started?â
âWell, certainly. Down to business, as usual, it seems,â President Zander replied, before signalling the young man who was quietly sitting in the corner. When the young man came forward, he whispered a few words to him, which the young man nodded to, before leaving the room.
âI hope you wonât mind. I ordered a few dishes already,â President Zander said.
âNot at all, President Zander,â Jade Greeley replied with a curt smile. Then she gestured with her hands towards her team of lawyers behind her. Understanding what she meant, the head lawyer for Greeley Corporation, Xu Ting, came forward and displayed the revised business contract on the table in front of President Zander.
The young man who had left the room came back a few minutes later, and whispered to President Zander before returning to his seat.
ZChain Corporation is known in the business world for its chain of world-class restaurants all over. Though it cannot be compared to the Greeley Corporation, which had various businesses, including hotels, game companies, jewellery companies, etc. to its name.
This time, the purpose of the meeting was to finalise the collaboration between ZChain Corporation and Greeley Corporation in setting up a new restaurant in City S.
After about two (2) hours of deliberations over the business, both parties finally reached a conclusion, with both sides formalising the deal and signing the contract.
The meeting ended as President Zander had other matters to attend to. So they ate a quick lunch, and Jade Greeley saw President Zander and his entourage.
Before leaving Ze Restaurant, Jade Greeley gave further instructions to the head lawyer, Xu Ting, and her assistant, Meg Chu, concerning the contract.
She drove back to her Condo to get ready for the banquet. As her âmotherâ has been breathing down her neck, urging her to be there on time.
Jade Greeley had previously asked her assistant, Meg Chu, to get her an evening dress for the occasion and deliver it to her Condo, which she did.
On getting back to her Condo, Jade Greeley took out the arranged dress her assistant had earlier gotten for her and unpacked it.
It revealed a deep crimson, full-length, velvet gown with a halter neck style. The back was decked with pretty little flowers from top to bottom. The dress had a simple short trail at the back of the dress.
Jade Greeley then had a quick bath before she started dressing up. As she was getting ready, her assistant Meg Chu arrived at her Condo to help her get ready as well.
Meg Chuâs dainty figure was clothed with a simple powdered lavender gown with a short boat neck design and a fabulous high low hemline for the bottom. Meg Chuâs shoulder-length black hair was fixed inside braids with the rest in curls and left cascading behind her.
Though she could not be compared to Jade Greeley, she could be regarded as beautiful too.
Meg Chu had reached Jade Greeleyâs Condo 30 minutes earlier than the appointed time. So she had enough time to help her boss get ready.
Meg Chu helped Jade Greeley style her long black hair in a dreamy updo bun. She helped Jade Greeley pick out a white and black platform pumps for her to wear.
She helped Jade Greeley pick out the rest of the accessories to complete her outfit â a set of sterling silver crystal earrings with matching bracelets as well as a simple but lovely neckpiece and a purse to match the outfit.
Jade Greeley looked ethereal even with her usual light makeup, like an enchanted fairy queen from a beautiful mystical forest. Though she wasnât really going for that look. It all came natural to her.
The dress gave her a more vivid enhancement displaying her curve-hugging silhouette as it accentuated her thin waist, hugging her hips, and flaring out to the hem in an âAâ shape. It made her hour-glass figure more pronounced.
Jade Greeley took out another pair of contact lenses and wore them before picking up her phone and purse. As they were done getting ready, they immediately made their way downstairs and then into the waiting car.
Meg Chu was not going to be driving today, so she had to get a chauffeur sent over from the company.
As soon as Jade Greeley and Meg Chu got into the car, it sped off to their destination.
They arrived at the venue where the banquet was being held in no time.Hopefully Jade Greeley was ready for the bombshell that was about to be dropped on her as she is still unawares of her engagement. The banquet was held in one of the many five star hotels under Greeley Corporation. The grand entrance and the main hall were beautifully laden with complemented colours of different scented candles as well as flowers intricately placed to enhance the hall’s elegance.Exquisitely looking chandeliers decked with colourful gems hung strategically at various places above the floors of the grandiose hall, adding to the beauty of the hall. The decorations had a sophisticated yet elegant and relaxed décor vibe. When they
âWhat sister in law?!â Jade Greeley narrowed her gaze questioningly at Carla Hoyle. Was her gut feeling right all along? Something was definitely not adding up. âWhat exactly is going on here?â Jade Greeley asked with a strained quizzical look. She glanced at her parents before turning to take a look at Chairman Hoyle and his family. âIs no one going to say anything?!â Jade Greeley asked her parents in blank amazement. âWould someone tell me what this is all about? Who is she calling sister in law?â she asked with slightly furrowed brows. When she spoke she turned and faced Carla and her family as if they were the only ones who could speak the truth at the moment. âI hope th
‘Now she wants to claim that she is a good mother who is worried for her daughter,’ Jade Greeley’s eyes flashed with anger once again. Tears still rolling down her cheeks. Small sobs escaped her lips in muffled sounds. After a few minutes, she calmed herself down. Then she breathed a deep breath before turning on the tap to wash her hands again. Afterwards, she cleaned her hands with a paper towel before trashing it. She glanced at herself in the mirror. Luckily her eyes were not red and her face was not so messy since she didn’t cry for long.Fortunately, she did not wear any makeup. Else she would have wasted the efforts Meg Chu must have done to put it on her because of her disappointing family. Cleaning up the runny mascara would have also been too much of a hassle. Still she needed to wash her face.
An arranged marriage seems to be a norm amongst business associates or acquaintances, and Jade Greeleyâs engagement was no more than that. She wasnât like most girls who would be squealing with joy and pure happiness at the thought of being engaged to their one true love because she wasnât even accorded such an opportunity. Yes! She was getting engaged alright, but it was merely an arrangement organized between her father, Matt Greeley, and one of her fatherâs business friends. An arrangement that she was not even aware of. Herâ motherâ, Elizabeth Greeley, only informed her of the banquet and made sure she would attend. Jade Greeley is usually never made aware of anything happening in the Greeley Mansion. It was no different this time. She had stopped caring since sh
After spending about an hour plus working, she finally came out of her study room due to a call from the madam, herâ mother,â Elizabeth Greeley, to confirm she didnât make any plans later in the day and warned her to make sure she attends.
