When we finally arrived home, I made good on my promise to Amy, and we indulged in a movie night. It was a simple pleasure, but everything felt remarkably right. For the first time in a long while, I was genuinely happy.
As we settled in, the comforting glow of the TV casting a warm ambiance, Amy finally broached the question I knew was coming.
"Spill the details, Eve. What happened between you and Ryan?" she asked, her curiosity evident.
I chuckled, realizing I had anticipated this interrogation. It was time to fill her in on the intricate details.
"Well, you know how Ryan usually starts," I began, and Amy couldn't help but laugh.
"Like an asshole?" she interjected, earning a smile from me.
"No, this time it's different. He's still Ryan, but there's a change. He listens and genuinely tries to fix things. Of course, the occasional bout of alpha jealousy is still there, but we're working on it."
