Heather POV “I linked the boys when I arrived, asking them to pick up your homework for you.” Alpha Shane says as he unlocks the truck to open the door for me. I didn’t say anything as Alpha Shane drove me home. He got out of the truck with me and walked me to the door. Grandma was in the kitchen when I opened the door. “Heather, what’s wrong? Why are you home so early?” she asks as she wipes her hands on a dish towel while walking towards us. “Lyla, can I sit?” Alpha Shane asks, gesturing towards the kitchen chair. “I need to have a word with you. There was an incident at the school involving Heather and Alpha Rob’s daughter.” “Yes, of course, Shane have a seat. Would you like a coffee?” “That would be great, Lyla.” “I’ll make the coffee, Grandma, you sit with Alpha Shane so he can start telling you what happened.” I pulled out a chair and gestured for Grandma to take a seat. Grandma cocks her eyebrows. “This must be serious you just call him Alpha Shane.” I ignored Grandma’s s
Heather POVGrandma and I showed up at nine o’clock, just like she told Shane we would. We were met in the main lobby area by Mona and Sage. We followed them through the breezeway into the resident building up to the second floor and into one of the guest rooms that had been modified for us to use. The bed had been removed to make room for three large tables with chairs, a filing cabinet, a whiteboard and a cork board. By the fireplace there were two nice sized couches and two chairs. Along the wall beside the door was a mini fridge and the equipment needed to make tea and coffee. The walk-in closet had become a storage room that contained everything we could need, from dry easer markers and pens to file folders and sticky notes. It reminded me of the rooms you see in movies where task forces have set up their evidence boards. I guess, in a way, we are trying to solve a mystery, so why not treat it the same way?“So where do we start?” I asked, looking at the boxes neatly stacked at t
Heather POVMeg and I spent the rest of the day sorting the diaries into owners and by date. While the others sifted through the piles of documents that were everything from land deeds to recipes for burn ointment. Looking at the others, I think Meg and I got the easier of the two jobs. Just before four, there was another knock on the door. Meg went over to answer it. “Heather, I think it’s for you.” I went and stood in the doorway of the closet where I had been looking for a larger-sized sticky note pad, to see Reed and Lucas entering the room. “How do you know they are here for me? Their mother is here too.”Lucas walks straight at me, picks me up and carries me back into the closet. Reed follows, closing the door. “We are most defiantly here for you.” He says as I’m held between the two of them while they nuzzle into my neck.Reed starts placing kisses on my neck as he states. “I have wanted to do this all day. I thought I was going to lose it. The other girls were even worse today
Lucas POVI couldn’t tell if he was upset with us or if something else was wrong. We knew because of what he said to Heather he wasn’t upset with her, so I was ok with that. Dad could be as mad as he wanted to with me just as long as he is fine with Heather. Reed and I ran to our rooms. I showered quickly, put on some sweat pants and a t-shirt, gathered up a half load of laundry. I wasn’t leaving those jeans for Mom to find if she decided to do some washing. Reed and I mostly do our own laundry, but the odd time Mom will throw a load in for us. I stepped into the hall to see Reed with a half load of laundry also. We headed for the laundry room, throwing all the clothes in together and made our way to Dad’s office in silence. Reed knocked on the door and we waited for Dad to answer. I started to shift back and forth on my feet. I was getting real nervous now since Dad was making us wait. After about ten minutes, Dad opened the door and he looked even more upset now than he did when he
Lucas POV“Where the hell are you two?” I heard Dad through the link.“On our way, be there shortly.” I answered him.I turn off the water, grab a towel off the shelf, throwing it to Reed before grabbing one for myself. I make my way over to the cabinet pulling out clean clothes from the extras that are kept in the gym. Once we are both dressed, we trudge our way to the dining hall. I see Dad at the far side of the room where he normally sits when he is here for meals. He and Mac have their heads back laughing at something Uncle Aaron was talking about. “Good to see I’m not the only one that is late.” I hear from behind us as Levi walks in. He looks at the two of us. “What the hell happened? You guys look...off?” He says, looking at us suspiciously.“It’s nothing to worry about, Levi. We’re just processing things,” Reed tells him.Levi puts his hands up. “Ok, just remember I’m here to listen if you need me.”“Thanks, we’ll let you know.” I said as I pat him on the shoulder. I looked b
Shane POVI walked straight to the bar, grabbed three glasses and a bottle of scotch. I think at least I’m going to need it. I set everything on the table, poured a glass for myself and motioned for the boys to help themselves. I lean back in the chair and wait for them to pour their drinks. This can’t be good, Lucas very rarely drinks and he just poured a glass and downed it in one shot. “Ok, where are we going to start?” They look at each other and I can tell that they linking one another.Reed leans forward, resting his forearms on his knees. “First off, we are not mad at you for telling us to back off, Heather. We understand why and we agree. We also know she is like our own personal drug and she is highly addictive. The last thing we wanted to do was hurt Heather.”“What do you mean, was? What did you two do?” I don’t think I’m going to like what I’m about to hear. The boys spent the next thirty minutes trying to explain what had happened after they left my office. I can’t say th
Heather POV “The women talked to you about us not being alone, right?” Reed started. “Yes, and I agree with them. Is that what the problem is? Don't you agree? Or is it because we can’t do anything? You want nothing to do with me?” I felt the tears start to well in my eyes. I’m not going to let them see me cry. It will just give them another reason to not want me. “That is not it at all, Heather we care for you a lot." Reed says taking my hand gently in his. "We told you even if we are not mates we don’t want to lose your friendship.” Lucas said, a little panicked, taking my other hand. “Then what is it? Tell me now.” The two of them take the next ten minutes stumbling over their words until they finally tell me what they let Sophie do to them in the woods. Sophie of all people. At the end, Reed tightened his hold on my hand. “We wanted to be the ones to tell you. We didn’t want you to hear it from her because she would try and rub it in your face. She won’t keep her mouth shut.”
Heather POVBy the time I was done, he had pulled me into his lap and was rubbing my back to calm me down.“Future Alphas or not, they need their asses kicked. How could they even think about having another woman touch them when they have someone as beautiful as you.” Nolan pushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “Even if I had to wait years to be with you I would.” Nolan cupped my cheek, running his thumb over my bottom lip. “What is it about you?” He whispers so quietly that I barely hear him just before he lightly brushes his lips on mine. He is gentle at first, then when I don’t stop him, he tilts his head deepening the kiss a little. The kiss is nice, different again from the twins and Jacob. Without breaking the kiss, he slides one hand around my waist and the other from my cheek to the back of my head and shifts us so that I’m lying on my back on the couch with Nolan above me. He glides his tongue along the seam of my lips asking for entry. I part my lips, allowing him to
