“What the hell happened in here?,” Ang says and sweeps the room and bathroom as per usual, but this time it definitely makes sense. The doctor is by my side in an instant picking up the IV stand and rehanging the bag. “Put that thing in me again, I dare you,” I glare at him. My claws digging through the blankets into the mattress. He takes a step back and lets go of the tube with the needle attached, “Akira, we’re only here to help, there’s nothing in this that can hurt you. If you don’t want it that’s completely fine, I will not force anything,” he says. I retract my claws. Two more pack members join us in the cabin, I’m guessing they called for backup. Understandable. I’m a wild, turned wolf they know absolutely nothing about. And clearly neither do I. “Star did we do this?” I ask her. “I’m not sure but I think we did, that blinding light Akira, that was from us. It may have caused this destruction,” she hesitates, “I feel your power more than ever now. It’s strong. It makes me strong.” She doesn’t explain further. She doesn’t sound very happy about it, but I’m not exactly happy either. It’s the unknown that worries us. We don’t know what I am or what I can do. We just know it’s there and these surprise appearances of power prove I’m a liability. I am a threat based off ignorance and inexperience. What if someone was in here with the blast of light? I could have hurt someone or worse… I didn’t want to think of it.

I rub my hands down my face. “I’m sorry I-“ I don’t even know what to say, “How long have I been out?” I ask. “Three days,” the doctor says, “We thought it was the best solution to your pain. You seem to have a stronger heat than most, the Alpha didn’t want you in pain-“ “Or all the unmated males making their way to the cabin, that shit was strong,” Ang shuts up with one look from the doctor. “We didn’t know dosages for your…kind. You seem to need much larger amounts to take the same effect,” he finished explaining. I look to each one of their faces. Shock and confusion coating mine, “What do you mean my kind?” I turn to the doctor. He seems very professional, standing with his hands behind his back and his posture perfect, and also in the way he speaks, but I feel as if I’m only getting half truths out of him. “I think it’s pretty clear,” he looks around the room at the mess, “I haven’t taken any blood samples from you or anything else without your consent. If you would let me, I believe studying the results in comparison to a born wolf may provide you with some answers.”

I want to tell him to go to hell and that I’m not some lab rat but I don’t think wolves believe in hell. I’d tell you I didn’t either as a human but I think I may have found it and it includes mythical creatures. Stars’ offence is felt through the bond, I didn’t mean her. “You are the light in the darkness, the guiding star that brings lost ones home and the only reason I’m here today. But you have to admit, this hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows for me Star,” I tell her hoping she understands. “I am here to guide and help,” she replies. “You are so much more than that Star, so much more,” I send all my love down the bond so she feels it.

“Okay,” I tell the doctor, “I’ll do it.” His grin would be seen from miles away even with human eyesight. “BUT I am to be included in every thing that is discovered. That also includes any information found not through the tests done.” His smile falters and is not reaching his eyes anymore. “Of course,” he says, “I can’t make that deal with you but-“, “It’s fine,” Noah walks through the door. And damn, I almost start drooling. He’s dressed like a mafia boss. A button up, long sleeve collared shirt with slacks and dress shoes. All black. Plus some silver jewelry, rings, watch, and a chain around his neck that can be seen since his shirt had a few buttons undone at the top. Very different than the usual track suits I’ve seen him in lately. And his hair, God his hair. It’s styled in a wet look with wavy curls that almost reach his eyes. I realize my mouth is hanging open when Ang clears his throat looking at me and smirks when I close it and glare at him. I thought I wouldn’t be attracted to him like this since the heat has worn off but maybe it’s still there. “No, it’s worn off now. This is all you,” Star laughs. I roll my eyes at her and sigh.

I hear the tch sound immediately, “I thought we talked about that Akira,” he says. He’s not looking at me as he casually rolls up his sleeves. I need to distract myself from staring at this man. “I would like to make a contract of my own,” I state. He pauses, then continues with his sleeves till they’re mid way up his forearms. He looks at me with one eye brow raised, “Go on.” I take a deep breath and continue, “If you are to do testing on me, I want, in writing, that I will be privy to all results and information gathered on my…kind.” He stares at me for a long moment, “And?” He asks. And? What does he mean and? And what? Then it comes to me. “And, if the contract is breached I am to take all samples with me and leave,” I add. There, not a cell, not a prison, not a lab rat, I have an out. The side of his mouth slightly curves upwards. “On one condition,” he says. I sigh again and a blaze ignites in his eyes as he begins to walk casually towards the bed, stepping around the debris, and stops beside the doctor and crosses his arms. His muscles look like they’ll burst through his shirt and the veins in his arms become very noticeable. “You must be forthcoming in regard to your powers and what you know of yourself.” I contemplate it for a minute then I hold up one finger to him indicating I needed a moment.

I was brought into the Alphas office by his Beta and some other pack members, immediately I was stunned at not only how young he looked but how familiar. I’m not sure where I’ve seen him from, but it must be from my past life. He stares at me, hard. It seems as though he’s upset, but I’m not sure. “Who are you and state your business on our pack grounds” he says, not asking. “My name is Akira, and I would like to join your pack”, I kept my head held high, hoping he sees strength instead of desperation. The room grows quiet for far too long. I can see him sniff the air, “Not a rouge… what pack are you from?” he asks. Here we go.. “I’ve never been a part of a pack actually,” I hesitate to continue but decide honesty right now is my best option, “I was never born a wolf, I was turned.” There it was. I knew I was different but the faces of everyone in this room grew cold and confused. Assessing me as a threat I assume, because I’m as unknown to them as they were to me. Understandable.

I stare at him and decide I better just start talking, I need a pack. I can’t survive like this on my own, that much has been proven. “I was on my way home from a shift at the bar I worked at, not exactly in a great area but money is money right…. And well some drunk guy came up to me… I turned him down and of course he didn’t like that at all.” I said watching his reactions but he had absolutely none. He just sat there waiting. So I went on. “He was so strong. I couldn’t do anything, all the fight I had did nothing to him. He brought me to the back through the forested area and…” this was the hard part to say, “He took what he wanted from me and well, all I remember next was pain, so much pain I turned numb. I was alone in a forest beaten, bloody and dying.” He still just stared, no emotion. So I did the same. “And then”, he finally said. I didn’t want to continue, but if I had any chance of joining this pack I had to. The fear of what happened at the last pack was burning in my ch

I stared at him for a long moment, because my stubbornness from my human life seemed to transfer over into this one. “He wanted to run tests on me, see what I truly was.” Half of the truth but should be enough, I hoped. “So he took me prisoner instead and killed the couple that helped me, using the excuse that I was an enemy and that they gave me inside information. Which they didn’t. And I am not.” I said with so much anger. He stared at me but his eyes flashed down then back up. “Retract your claws Akira”, I looked down, sure enough I was digging my claws into the arms of the chair I was sitting on. I retracted them and went on with the story after I took a deep breath. “I escaped and ended up in your territory a month later. Your pack members caught me at your border and brought your Beta to me. Obviously you decided this interrogation wasn’t optional and I was brought here after trying to explain I am not a threat.” I lifted one eye brow to him. “Is that enough for you Alpha?” I

It was small, cabin like, just one big room with four walls, and a bathroom off to the side - absolutely no complaints from me. I have a bed, a small kitchen set up and a dresser for the five pieces of clothing I happened to have in my bag, which thankfully they gave back after obviously searching through it. I was so wired that I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep, then there was a knock at my door before it opened up and a random girl walked in holding papers and a serious scowl on her face. “This is your contract, and these are some clothes from our donation pile.” She threw a bag down I didn’t notice she had and then walked out. Clearly I wasn’t making friends here but I do not care. I don’t need friends, I need information. I picked up the contract immediately and looked it over. To summarize, it included a schedule that I couldn’t defer from or it would be seen as treason, I’d have some one always with me escorting me everywhere I go and if I am seen alone it will constitute as

I couldn’t stop screaming seeing red eyes even with mine open. The door flew open and a man ran in ready to fight. He stopped when he saw me in bed, quickly assessing the situation. He checked the bathroom then walked back to me, clearly annoyed. “What the fuck Akira, I thought someone was killing you?!” The guy yelled throwing his hands up questioning me. “Someone was,” I muttered, rubbing a hand down my face. I threw the sheet off and got out of bed, glancing at the alarm clock as I walked to the kitchen, 4:36am. Great I could have slept for 24 more mintutes, too bad. I grabbed a glass of water and chugged it and heard the guy breathe “holy shit” then turned around realizing he was checking me out. Not checking me out in the ogling kind of way, he was staring at all my scars. I have claw marks, bite

He reaches forward his thumb is tracing over the claw marks on my shoulder but not in an intimate way, more out of curiosity, “These?” He asks. “Well it’s pretty obvious isn’t it?” I answer a little too honestly. I want to shove the other foot into my mouth but then he smirks and grabs my wrist, which at the moment is up at my face because I instantly covered my mouth once I said that. It helps take my mind off the ache but it’s definitely back full force. Not having a male near me seems to help, I think. I don’t know how this works exactly. I was tossing and turning for what felt like forever when someone walked in, “Hi Akira, I’m Dr. Zane, the Alpha sent me to help you okay?” He introduced himself. “No please, isn’t it bad to have a male around me right now?” I’m not taking any chances. I clearly can’t trust myself around men. “I’m mated already, 12 years now, so we will not be affected by each other I promise.” I take in what he says as much as I can, I’m in so much pain now I don’t even want to move from the fetal position I’m in. “I’m going to inject you with something to calm your body down okay?” He said. I’m losing my mind and this water isn’t helping much now that I’m getting used to it. I push my other hand up his wet shirt to land on his abs, “And what happens to the ones who sink their claws into them?” I lift my one eyebrow at him. He definitely flexed his abs, I felt them move under my finger tips. I start to move my hand lower but he catches that wrist too. “You don’t really want to do this Akira, it’s your heat. I’m not going to let you do something you don’t want to do,” he says softly, “It also explains why we’ve been, uh, attracted to each other lately, that’s how it works.” I pull my hands to my side and step out of the shower. It’s to ensure their lineage, the more pups the better,” he explains. I’m staring at him now in disbelief but that changes once I feel it, a pull so strong I’m already on my feet walking towards him. “Akira stop,” he holds up his hands. I force myself to take a step back. “How do I stop this?” I ask moving from one foot to the other, I can’t stand still. His eyes are fully black, “You mate,” he says through gritted teeth. “What? He catches me smelling it, I didn’t realize I had put the collar up to my nose to take in the scent. He laughs, “Do I smell good to you?” He smiles and winks at me. “Surprisingly yeah, but don’t let it get to your head Ang.” We start to walk back and I notice a couple more pack members emerge out of the tree line, two men and a woman. They must not have shifted because they still had on all their clothes, and it seems they’re speaking through mind link because it’s awkwardly silent as we pass them. He speaks as little as possible. I understand; people are afraid of the unknown. I’m afraid of the unknown. “You will learn, you will succeed, and you will survive.” Star states it as fact. I am strong. I am smart. And I will survive. I repeat my own mantra. On the way back, Jack speaks up as we’re almost back at the cabin, “You’re not trusted here.” He states it as a fact. She clearly thinks she’s funny. “What’s she saying now?” He asks. I sigh, and he tch’s his tongue. I smile and notice he’s trying to hide his. “What do you want Noah?” I ask, pausing purposely.
