Warm breeze hit their face as they stepped outside. There weren't many houses around. The place was somewhat deserted. People around them were countable. They realized no one was suspicious about them as they strolled on the streets.
"Looks like pills are working." Alex commented.
"Of course they would." Leo said proudly.
"Yeah yeah" Alex rolled his eyes.
They came across a small village and stopped there. A long, stout stick on which a wooden board hung was buried at the entrance of the village. The board displayed the village name, Inkdon.
They decided to take a look at the village. It was strange that in spite of having many houses, there weren't many people on the streets. And those who were out, were not
In a medium sized room, there sat a man in his 40s, on a wooden chair, behind the table. His balding head hidden under a pork pie hat. He appeared a little healthy, afterall he was a magistrate and had few villages under him. His thick moustache covered his upper lip. Black eyes were hidden behind the closed lids. Hands placed on either side of the temples in a deep thought. The room was ominously quiet. Silence broke by a knock to his room. His brows drew together, looking annoyed by the disturbance. He opened his eyes to see four figures entering the room. "Good morning sir." Leo greeted, bowing to him. "Hmm. How may I help you?" came a monotonous reply from the magistrate as he had been saying the same lines for all these years of his service. "Sir, we have came h
In the series of houses, there stood a vacant house. It was made of stones arranged in a pretty thoughtful manner so that the pieces fit together, just like tetris. It had thatched roofing and clay tiled. On the front door, there marked a number with a white chalk, '13'. “Is this the house?” Alex enquired. “Should be. Number thirteen, same as the key number.” Leo said, looking at the key in his hand. “It's old and shabby.” Alex remarked, taking a gander at the house. “We are in the medieval period Alex. What do you expect, a skyscraper?” Leo said, walking towards the main door and others followed him inspecting the stone house. “Leo, let me open the lock.” Adi said with a timid grin, extending her hand towards him,
"Hmmm...Now, are we going to invade the house? Let's go then." Alex said, rubbing his palms together and smirking evilly. "Bad idea. There are people around us, Alex." Vivi said, checking out the people who were buried in the work while some lurked. They currently stood in front of the witch's house. The key which they used last time to enter the house was taken away by the man whom the magistrate had sent to take them to their new house. "We can use the window. Three of us can distract the people around us while one of us quickly enters the house." Adi proposed. "Ohh this is better. This way people won't notice...umm.." "Me," Leo said completing Vivi sentence, "I'll enter the
“Did he go?” Alex whispered. “I think so. There’s no sound around except for the screeching of some creatures.” “What are we waiting for here then? Let us move out from here before they decide to feed on us.” Alex cried. They started walking briskly out of the forest leaving the sticks that were stacked up behind. After a few minutes of walking and running, they caught the sight of their stalker lurking in front of the woman's house where Adi and Vivi had entered. “What a creep guy!” Alex commented, looking at the man disguised himself in black who was now peeking through the window. “He is just doing his job Alex.” Leo stated dryly. "Whatever"
*Giggles* *Giggles* *Giggles* “Geneva, that was so fun.” Vivi said, trying to control her laughter. “Yes, mamma is always fun. She tells joke. Me laugh.” Jen said. Her little eyes squeezed as an enormous smile plastered on her face. “Aww Jenny you are so cute.” Adi said, patting her head. “Thanks, Auntie Adi.” Jen smiled, hopping, unable to control her happiness. She was extremely happy to have guests at her house. Due to the Dark Lords’ torment, not many people entered this village. Only on rare occasions, people came to meet their relatives residing here. Adi returned her a bright smile. To be honest, she was a little nervous when Leo advised them to meet the lady and seek help from her. She was trying to figure out how to approach her. But when they knocked on the door, the lady opened the door with a radiant smile which made her more approachable. In fact, her hospitality makes the person feel at home. T
After listening to Geneva they were completely devastated. She didn’t describe the gore in detail but her tears were enough to express the torment the couple went through. She went towards the kitchen wiping her tears and a short discussion began behind her back. "Leo, didn't you say the couple was still alive?" Adi asked, lowering her voice so that Geneva couldn't hear her. "I still say they might be alive." Leo whispered. "Whom did the Dark Lord kill?" Vivi asked. "Maybe it was another couple and the Dark Lord faked the death of the couple." Alex gave his opinion. "Why would he want people to believe that the couple died?" Leo murmured. Geneva entered and saw the people lean forward whispering something. She looked at them curiously. Not knowing what to do she cleared her throat to get their attention. They straightened themselves as soon as they saw Geneva watching them. "We were j
Silence was frightening. All the eyes in the hall were on the Dark Lord waiting for him to speak for the first time in front of the gathering. The Dark Lord stared at each and every face in the hall with his hawk-like eyes.Adi shuddered as the Dark Lord's eyes glanced at her with an intense gaze. She quickly held on to Leo's arm. Leo titled his head to look at the anxious eyes of Adi staring at the Dark Lord, trembling. He put his arm around her and tried to calm her.The Dark Lord cleared his throat and said, “You all want to know the reason behind the occasion, eh?” He stared at the curious faces of peasants and elites in front of him with the same intensity.“HAHAHA,” He let out an evil laugh making commoners shiver and continued, ”Very soon your lord, I, will be most powerful and will conquer death. Isn’t this a good reason to celebrate?” He laughed again.“Hail to the Dark Lord!” Someone in the c
"Wait. You mean he knew about us?" Alex said surprisingly."I think so." Leo said, staring blankly at the floor, contemplating the events that happened today."You mean he recognized us?" Adi asked."Mhm" Leo nodded."The Dark Lord recognized us but he still didn't kill us when he had the best opportunity.'' Vivi wondered."I wonder that either." Leo muttered.Coming back to their place, after a long awfully silent journey, Adi asked Leo about his strange behavior in the castle. Leo narrated to them about his uneasy feeling of being watched."I felt some intense gaze, like, we were being watched after the Dark Lord went back. That was making it hard to breathe and blurred my mind. Wasn't able to figure out the source of that intense gaze, but I am sure that there was someone who was keeping an eye on us." Leo sighed and continued, "He knows who we are." He said quietly which caught everyone's attention.Their eyes w
