Gratuitous death

Year 2051

The world appeared to be on another level. Small towns and villages were demolished and were replaced by hitech cities.

One side of the city was associated with a stream. The city was developed in well planned and decent order. When seen from a bird's eye, the primary paths associated with each other in a hexagonal pattern that together resembled a honeycomb.

The dominance of artificial intelligence in technology made the working hours less grueling, which in turn gave more time to focus on building relationships. Small houses and apartments were replaced by huge Manors, bungalows and skyscrapers. People travelled in their flying cars or in the levitating public transport.

Creation of Robots supplanted all household works that worked on the commands given to them by their masters. This was the ideal situation of how the world ought to resemble in future.

In the middle of all hustling and bustling, a colossal Manor was built in the heart of the city. The Manor was segregated from the bustling group by the enormous dividers encompassing it. The dividers were painted grayish in shading. There was a huge pool and garden and it had a great deal of empty space.

A young couple sat in their balcony, staring blankly at the termed 'ideal world' outside the dividers. Even though their eyes looked ahead, yet their mind was completely immersed in a grave thought. Silence surrounded the couple.

"Why us?" Asked the girl, breaking the ominous silence.

She had her long, pretty, blonde hair tied in a low ponytail. Her brows lowered and pulled together. Tears pooled in her beautiful blue eyes which distorted her vision as she looked at Leo seeking for some answers. She didn't want to lose her love this time. Anxiety built as she thought of losing him once again.

Leonard sensed the pain behind her voice. His heart wrenched as he looked at her face. He searched for the words to console her. He took a deep breath and released it slowly trying to gather his thoughts. He placed his hands gently on her cheeks and said,

"I don't know, Adi. Yet, I realize that this shouldn't keep on occurring. I will not allow this to happen again and again. We can't live like this. Adi, you know that I love you and I want to live with you for eternity. Like, I need to feel each phase of my existence with you. We have known each other since when we were kids. We were there for each other at our upbeat and pitiful moments. I want to live with you the same as yesterday in our propelling years and I mean it."

He pulled her close and embraced her. He heard the small sobs escaping from her lips. He rubbed her back trying to console her and soon the sobs vanished, leaving them to tune in to their hearts beating for each other.

Alas, destiny had written something different for them. They came to realize that they were going to die soon and the reason being their mysterious past. They came across this diary in their own manor, in the newfound mysterious basement, which vicissitudes their life.

The place was revamped many times yet they neither had spotted this basement nor the diary. The strangest part being the manuscript. It was written in Leo's handwriting.

It was an extremely old diary. The cover was made up of leather and was dark brown in colour. Pages were thick and golden yellow in colour and were probably handmade. And the writing was done with quills.

First page of the diary had a smiling picture of a young couple. Precisely, it was a painting made with some strange colours. On a closer look, one could see the colours emitting soft light. It was incredibly stunning to look at.

It was a picture of Leo and Adi, smiling. Due to their extreme curiosity and suspicion they begin to read the diary.

The diary was rather strange. It contained all the occasions that occured in Leo's and Adi's life without any slightest change. It was like reliving those moments again.

They were surprised to read about those events. It appeared that somebody had predicted this occasion and it was intended for them to read this.

Hour passed by and the last page of the diary showed up. It was a letter, a letter mentioning them. They both glanced at each other and began to read it.

The letter was soaked in blood and had turned dark giving a rusty smell. They were stunned. Their hearts sank as they read about their own demise.

The letter said,

Date : 31st December, 1475

Dear Future selves,

I realize this is very strange to read a letter written by one from the past. But this is very crucial and will determine the destiny of our love or now it's your love.

I am writing this to warn you about the upcoming danger. Please don't ignore it. Lenn has sacrificed his life already. Soon I'll be following him.

This is about a prophecy. It's written in your destiny that if one of you dies the other will follow soon. I don't have much time left with me. The Dark Lord may arrive here anytime. I will be leaving my ring here in the basement which will take you to my memories.

If you are reading this diary then it implies that the secret basement is perceivable and be careful, you have exactly 30 days to save yourself.

We were helpless and failed to protect ourselves from the Dark Lord. Please save your lives for the sake of your love.

Love
