Mysterious dairy

Morning that day…

"Leo!" Adi called.

"Yes honey?" came a reply from Leo who was sitting on the couch, working on a virtual touch screen in front him.

"I will be going out with Lily. Okay!"

"Yea. I recall you telling me. Umm, Is it today? Missing you already." Leo said, gazing at Adi who was running her fingers to fix her hair.

"Oh, I'll come back soon honey. And I have informed Emily about the lunch. I'll try to come home by that time. Okay?"

“Okay. Will wait for you.”

“Yes. Let me have a final look at myself. I will be meeting her after many days.”

“You always look beautiful.”

Adi flustered at his words. Even after so many years of living with Leo, she still couldn't hold her blush when he praised her. She began walking towards the mirror with a wide smile.

"Ohh I remember. Did you consider moving this mirror elsewhere? It looks odd in the hall." Adi asked.

"I don't know. I tried many times shifting that mirror but it's somehow irreplaceable. Then I gave up. It looks antique so never mind."

"Hmm. True." She ran her fingers through her front hairs, standing in front of the antique mirror, slightly adjusting them.

Gradually her reflection started disappearing. The patches of dark brown began supplanting her mirror image. Her eyes widened at the sight of her reflection disappearing.

Soon it showed a path going downstairs. The mirror frame now appeared as an entrance to a hidden room.

"LEO!" she screamed out of fear and ventured back.

"Umm...what happened Ad-?" Leo came running towards her panicking.

He was stunned at the sight of a hidden path in front of him.

"What happened here?" Leo gasped.

Leo stretched his hand to touch the surface of the mirror. He felt his fingers penetrate through it. His brows raised and eyes widened. He quickly retrieved his hand back. He turned to face Adi who was still stunned.

“Le-Leo. What happened?” She stuttered.

“I don't know Adi.” Leo murmured and stretched his hand again to touch the surface.

His hand penetrated again. He slowly moved his hand into the mirror with. Adi tried to stop  him when she saw his entire arm appeared on the other side. She shook her head to stop Leo from stepping any further.

Leo smiled in assurance implying nothing will happen and moved forward. His entire body was now on the other side of the mirror. There were steps going down, moving towards complete darkness. He turned around and looked at the stunned face of Adi. He extended his hand towards her to call her this side.

She hesitated first to move forward but seeing Leo smiling assuringly, she took a step ahead. The two of them began strolling down through steps.

It was completely dark. But when they moved forward the lantern placed on the walls would light itself. Adi shuddered and never let go of Leo's arm.

As soon as they reached the last step, numerous lanterns lightened and a huge basement came into their view.

The basement was well illuminated. They began investigating it curiously.

A wooden table was placed in the middle of the basement. It was occupied by the wreck of parchments, quills and an old, leather diary. Leo moved towards the table trying to find something that can help them acknowledge the situation. He began examining the hand made parchments.

“Did you find anything?” Adi asked curiously.

“Nothing much. Some very old handmade papers and a diary.”

He pushed the diary towards Adi as it was empty when he checked. He continued taking a look at the parchments. He felt intrigued by its thick structure as he had never seen something like this.

Meanwhile, Adi checked the diary. On the first page there mentioned the name 'Lennard'. She flipped to the next page. They were completely blank. She was about to close the dairy. A few words emerged on it. She recognised the writing as Leo’s.

“Leo!” She called his name in astoundingly as she read what was written in it.

“What happened Adi?” Leo dropped the parchment he was inspecting and surged towards Adi.

“It's your handwriting. I-it’s written by you.” Adi said, glancing at him.

“What? How can it be Ad-”

Adi interrupted him by showing the diary. Ominous silence surrounded both of them. They began reading the content of the diary. The words were manuscripted in quills. Each page made them more and more surprised and shocked. They read the content of the diary randomly.

Date: 7th June, 1474

I saw her again. It was drizzling and she stood under her blue umbrella in a yellow dress outside a shop.

I couldn't take my eyes off her. Her magnetic blue eyes captivated me. Soon she was out of my sight and I realized my carriage took a turn. I panicked. Didn't want to lose her this time.

I asked the coachman to take me back to the last path, quickly. I was anxious and was expecting to see her again. At least I would know her name this time.

By the time we reached in front of the shop, she had left. I missed her again. Why was I so anxious?

Date: 17th June, 1474

I went to attend the Meti festival at King's castle. All farmers came there with their harvests and discussed the profits they had this year.

Meals were prepared by the green groceries and cereals sent by the farmers, one day ago at the castle cellar. It's wise and thoughtful of the king that he arranges this food festival. More than a festival it was a selfless promotion of the farmers trading their harvests to the people at an affordable price.

I collided with a girl there and sauce from her plate ruined my white shirt. She had her head bent down apologizing. I was annoyed and was about to retort, she lifted her face.

Her anxious, blue eyes met my dark brown. She smiled sheepishly as she apologized. Everything around me was still. I was again lost in her eyes. I couldn't understand what she was saying but smiled and nodded my head anyways. Her beauty was beyond any comparison. I heard someone calling her, distracting me for a moment.

She apologized one more time, bowed. I saw her disappearing in the crowd. I wanted to talk to her and as soon as I snapped back to reality, I found myself standing in the middle of the crowd, lost.

I raised my head trying to find her in the crowd but she was nowhere to be found. I sighed as I missed her another time. But smiled as I know her name now. I repeated her name in my mind softly, Ada.

Date: 10th August, 1474

Was waiting for her anxiously in Pies and Sips. The waiter annoyed me every second asking stupid questions. Only stopped to bother me when I glared at him.

There she arrived in a maroon dress. I couldn't take my eyes off her. She looked like a goddess of beauty that day. She greeted me with a smile on her face.

Being a gentleman I dragged a chair for her. Meal was good but it didn't lessen my anxiety. As the time arrived to end our little date my nervousness crested.

I touched my pocket. And took off the small red box. I stood up from my seat grabbing her attention. I went towards her seat and kneel down on my knee, proposing to her.

Her eyes glistened as she nodded her head saying 'Yes', making our relationship official. People around screamed in joy.

Everything went smoothly and the day ended in the best way.
