After the birthday party, the boys refused to let Aurora return to her apartment. They told her they wanted her to be with them till the next day, indirectly giving Arthur more opportunities to talk to her. Although Aurora tried to remain stolid to all of Arthur’s flirting, she was happy that he was trying to get her attention. And for the very first time in a long time, there was no Anita. No talks about her, and no thoughts about her. Aurora refused to sleep in any other room apart from the boys, and this was because she was beginning to miss them already. The next morning, she stared at their faces and smiled. ‘It’s crazy how time flies. They are all grown up now.’ Her lachrymose eyes spoke of overwhelming gratitude and joy. ‘If only I could stop time. I wouldn’t want times like this to pass.’ Standing up to her feet, she planted kisses on their sleeping heads before heading out of their room. As she got to the living room, her nostrils caught a pleasant aroma in the air. She
Getting to the restaurant, Jack was surprised to see Aurora. He already expected to see her again in the next few days. Aurora didn’t have her best face on because of the fight she had with Arthur. She couldn’t help but think about it. “Hey, Aurora.” Jack greeted her as she walked towards him. “Hi, Jack. Good morning.” She answered, forcing on an affable smile. “Good morning. How are you today? I wasn’t expecting you here today. Didn’t you get my message?” Jack asked, reaching for his phone in his pocket. The smile on Aurora’s faded faded off, and she shook her head. “I did see it, I just…” She took a pause and swallowed hard. Jack noticed this and became extremely curious. “Let’s talk in my office.” He offered her his hand and she held onto it as they walked out of the waiting area to his office. After settling down in his office, he continued the conversation with her. “Tell me, Aurora. What’s wrong?” He asked worriedly, while Aurora lowered her head. “It’s Arthur.” She ans
After all the drama Arthur and his kids created at the restaurant, they all bade everyone goodbye and headed back to Aurora’s apartment. Arthur bought dinner from the restaurant, and this was what they ate as soon as they got home. At the dinner table, the boys wouldn’t stop talking about how tense their father was to enter the restaurant. “He was tense?” Aurora asked with a chuckle, and they all nodded. “Even at the house when we were planning this. He stood in front of the mirror and constantly repeated what he would say to you. We couldn’t help but laugh.” Ryan added amidst laughter. “He kept rehearsing to the extent that I knew what he was going to say,” Riley added, laughing very hard. Aurora looked at Arthur as the boys made fun of him and she saw he was laughing too. “Stop mocking me, okay? We promised not to say a word to her.” Arthur muttered. “You know we can’t keep this from our mother. It’s too funny to be a secret.” Rowan added and Aurora broke into laughter again.
While she slept, Aurora felt his lips mold into her face, causing her to slightly open her eyes. She let out a soft moan as she saw Arthur watching her like it was some business. She felt her cheeks flush as she hid her face from him. “Why are you staring?” She asked in a whisper. “Good morning, beautiful. I couldn’t help but stare. You look so beautiful even when you’re asleep.” He responded, his hand reaching for her hair as he moved the hair strands away from her face. “I’m flattered.” She answered, turning her head to look at him again. “Last night was amazing.” He added, his eyes searching hers as he spoke. “Yes, it was.” She raised her hand and touched his cheek, letting out a smile. “You wouldn’t mind if we did that often, right?” He teased, catching Aurora unaware. “What?!” She asked shyly, her cheeks turning red. Arthur broke into laughter and shook his head. “That was just on a lighter note.” “Lighter? So you don’t want to do it often?” Aurora asked, looking at him
“How did it go?” He asked her, and Anita sighed in frustration. “He hung up and probably blocked the number. I can’t get to him anymore.” She answered, tossing the phone aside in anger. “I told you. You don’t have to check up on him. You know where to get him.” “Don’t blame me for trying to reach out. I miss him and I don’t want him to just forget about me. Didn’t you see the video? He seemed so happy and all.” She uttered, rolling her eyes. “And you don’t want that?” “No! He can’t be happy without me!” She yelled, making him scoff. “Sometimes I wonder if you’re just going after him for his money or if you do have feelings for him,” Alec answered with a loud sigh, slamming into the same couch she sat on. “Alec, C’mon, we are past this. I don’t think I can ever fall in love with a man. I just love how he makes me feel when I’m around him. How well I can manipulate him. That’s the best feeling ever. But now, this lady won’t just let me do my thing.” “But you have a plan A alrea
Carter got to the restaurant pretty late. Though Derick promised to finish with him early, they ended up using about an hour. When he got to the restaurant, Aurora had finished work already. She sat in the waiting area, waiting for him to show up. When she saw him approaching, she opened her arms and embraced him tightly. “Thank you for coming. I shouldn’t have bothered you.” She uttered as they hugged. “It’s okay, Aurora. I’m glad you called me. How are you feeling now? Still mad at Arthur?” He asked as they settled down. “I’m not sure. I’m just so mad that Anita won’t stop bothering us. I want her out of our lives for good, but I don’t know how to do that. She’ll keep bothering Arthur until God knows when.” Aurora ranted, rolling her eyes in frustration. “But Arthur isn’t giving her the attention she craves, right?” “No… I don’t know. I’m not sure. He claims to get rid of her phone number, but I don’t know what to believe anymore. Why can’t he just change his phone number?” “
“I hope you’re comfortable,” Alec uttered, and Aurora nodded. “Yes, I am. Thank you so much.” She answered as she kept her face on the road. “I don’t look familiar to you, right?” He asked and she narrowed her gaze and looked at him. “No, why? Do you know me?” She further inquired, and he nodded with a smile. “Yes, I do. I am a big fan of the restaurant where you work. I come there to eat dinner at least twice a week.” “What? Really? That’s nice. I’m surprised I don’t know you.” “Well, maybe that is because you are not working as a waitress. You are a chef, right?” “That’s right. I spend most time in the kitchen.” “I see. Well done. Your meals are the best around here. It even got better when you joined them.” “What? I don’t think so.” She chuckled softly. “I’m very serious. Their meals were not bad, but they got even better when you started working with them. You have magical hands.” He complimented, and Aurora’s cheeks slightly flushed. “Thank you so much, Mr. Alec. I ap
“Arthur…” Aurora called softly as tears filled her eyes. She couldn’t believe what was happening. Her wishes were finally becoming a reality but it seemed too good to be true. “Please don’t say no. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I have thought about it deeply and I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no point wasting any more time. “Let’s get married, Aurora.” As Arthur spoke, Aurora’s eyes shimmered with joy and emotion. She nodded as she stretched out her left hand to receive the ring. It was a beautiful diamond ring. As he slid it on her finger, he stood up and lifted her from the ground, swirling her in the air happily. “I love you!” He screamed excitedly as Aurora broke into tears. “What’s wrong?” He asked worriedly as he let go of her. He made her sit on the bed and knelt in front of her. “Why are you crying?? Are those tears of joy? I’m so worried right now.” He cupped her face in his hands. “I… I just can’t help but remember the first time we met and h
