I lost…

I was handling myself and I knew that I had a chance to win the match but then my son came and I was distracted. I have to give it to him, he really did well more than I expected him to.

But there was something about the way we spar that made me question what I know once again. Especially what Angeline, the old me, really meant to him.

This was the second time he had called me by my real name, the name I had buried along with the knowledge of my death. I have to admit that hearing him call me by that name took me off guard, especially with the way his eyes changed and morphed into a deep dark pit of nothingness. He looked so haunted that it would seem as if he really mourned the loss of me in his life.

Still, I can’t believe that because it might just be like one of those plays that he used to do with me. And all of what I was seeing was just part of a big act.

“So,” I heard the voice I was so used to hearing as he offered his hand to me so that I could stand up.
