I might have been relieved and overjoyed to hear him say that in the past, but it no longer touched me when I heard it.

"I'm not an angel. I can never forgive those who have hurt me. Now, can you please leave?"

"Mom, please give me another chance. I—" Zachary pleaded yearningly.

However, his feelings had long ceased to be of importance to me.

When it was about time for Harry's classes to end, I tasked my newly hired clerk to look after the store while I went to pick up Harry from kindergarten.

Zachary took a cab and followed me.

I had no right to stop him since the roads were for public use. Whatever he did was his business.
