Chapter 4

Push had come to shove, and I no longer had a choice.

Sniffling and teary-eyed, I went to look for Jacob. I wanted to say my final goodbyes to him.

Knowing Quinton, I would have no chance to visit Jacob and Harry again.

I walked toward Jacob to talk to him. Jacob rubbed his nose before I could say anything and said, "There's something I need to tell you. I hope you won't get angry with me."

I stopped what I was doing and asked, "What is it?"

"My father is the president of the Ferrin Group. Before I continue, I want to clarify something. I didn't hide this information from you on purpose!

"My parents initially disagreed with my decision to marry you and insisted that I marry someone of their choosing. I fell out with them after that. You weren't in a good state of mind then, and I worried their attitude toward you would worsen things. So, I lied to you and said my parents weren't around anymore."
