Chapter Forty Six

‘Honey, a couple of the guys are moving out soon, do you have any preference as to where you wanna go on from here?’

Alan would be dropping off his load later that day and she was here to transfer to another trucker,

‘Darlin’, we have Mark heading for Kentucky, Leon is heading for Wyoming and Nick is heading for Illinois. America is your oyster pretty girl, where you wanna go?’

Ella replied quietly,

‘I’d like to go with Nick if he does not mind too much.’

She had to go back and face up to what she had done by her stupidity and selfishness and knew it would be a long journey. Almost straight across the country over two thousand miles and depending on how many stops he would have to make it would mean three or four days of travelling and stopovers. Alan led her over to Nick’s truck carrying her suitcase he hoisted it inside and she gave him a gentle hug,

‘Thank you, and can you get word to Joe, and tell him the next book is just for him?’

Alan frowned,

‘What book is that one Darlin'?’
