CH3 The Mystery Of KV

Continuing Laurence’s POV:

"Charles~" He purred out happily, sitting up more as he reached for Charles. "How are you? You've been feeding well, right? Are you hungry? I can get you something." Charles gave a huge smile as he looked towards Silas.

"Yeah, I'm a little hungry." He was as honest as he was told to be with Silas. "You don't have to get me something though, I'm headed to the kitchen when we finish-" His eyes drifted as he caught my smell. He eyed me down in shock and dropped his jaw slightly."You didn't...." Charles shook his head quickly. Silas looked a little guilty then.

"I hit him with my car," he admitted and blushed. "I'm sorry Charles, but I couldn't let him die on the streets! He doesn't really need me either.... He already knows everything. He can see the past, present, and future, so he doesn't need me to teach him anything. You're not replaced."

"I was too replaced!" Charles shouted. I held back a laugh as I could practically taste his jealousy.

"No way! I promise you're not replaced," Silas promised him, giving him a pleading look. "It's not even like he's my fledgling. He doesn't need me at all! You need me though, and I need you as my fledgling!" He got to his feet and walked over, giving Charles a hug. "He didn't even let me order him blood!"

"That's so unfair he's so much cooler than I am," Charles whimpered. "Why'd you have to hit him with your car? Why didn't you dodge him!"

"It's a good thing he didn't dodge me," I muttered.

"I tried to dodge him, but he ran into the road so suddenly! Besides, don't be so upset! I'd much rather have a fledgling that needs me," he mumbled and gave Charles a squeeze. "You saved my life too. Don't forget that. I could never replace you even if I tried. You're too important to me Charles."

"Choosing him so quickly over me?" I teased. "I still need you. I might want you to try being a maker sometime to see what it'll feel like learning from you."

"Can we get rid of him?" Charles whispered. Silas shook his head no.

"No, he'll leave when he wants," Silas told him. "I'm not going to force him out into the streets. I hit him with my car then turned him to keep the guilt from getting to me." He completely ignored what I said as he rubbed Charles's cheek comfortingly. Well it's good to know I had him for a few minutes before Charles came storming in. I tilted my head back against the couch.

"What if we lock him away?" Charles asked.

"No, we can't do that either. He's still another one of my fledglings... even if he doesn't need me anymore," he told Charles softly. "Don't be so upset. It'll be fine. I promise. I doubt you have anything to worry about except for me becoming brain dead over my work," he joked.

"Fine," Charles mumbled and looked me over. "If I can't throw him out I might as well get along with him." His eyes lingered over my body. "I hope you're happy."

"It's not his fault," Silas told him then sighed, ruffling his hair before he nudged him to Pierre who eagerly pulled Charles into a loving hug. Silas smirked and then looked towards me. "Laurence, come introduce yourself to your brother."

"I rather keep my distance," I told him. Charles buried his face against Pierre. Silas frowned and walked over to me.

"What's the matter? You were wanting to meet them earlier," he whispered then sat beside me, grabbing my hand. "Is it because I told him that you don't need me? Or is it because Charles is worried that you're replacing him?"

"I'm more afraid he'll bite me as upset as he is right now. He'll get over it though," I whispered. "He's still taking in that he's no longer an only fledgling. He's got me now." Silas sighed and nodded.

"Well... I guess that makes sense," he whispered then patted my hand before he pulled his away from mine. "Do what you feel you need to," he told me then gave me a smile before he looked towards Charles with a happy smile. "Charles, I hope you won't be upset for too long."

"How can I not be upset so quickly?" Charles mumbled. "I just lost most of your attention to him now." Silas frowned a little and then rubbed his neck.

"I don't know about that. Like I said, he doesn't need me Charles. I don't have to teach him a thing, just make sure he obeys the rules and whatnot. He'll probably be wandering around the castle most of the time. I don't think he'll be hanging around me as much as you do," he told Charles softly.

"Pierre, let's go get a bottle of blood from the kitchen," Charles whispered in his ear. Pierre looked towards him worriedly then nodded.

"Okay," he told him then started to lead him out of the kitchen with a loving look. Everest watched Pierre and purred happily.

"He's certainly a great vampire.... I did great with him for the two years he was my fledgling," he whispered and then laughed. Silas glanced at Everest then at the door longingly as he watched his other fledgling leave. He pouted then looked towards me with a frown. I frowned back at him. Why's he giving me that look? I'm innocent. He sighed and got to his feet.

"Well... I think that's everyone," he told me and smiled. "I have work to do, so explore however you want. Don't leave the castle though." He looked towards Lyle then and narrowed his eyes. "Lyle, come along," he told him and walked towards the door.

"Man," Lyle whined as he followed after his brother. "This is going to be a long work session."

"You bet," he told him then grabbed his hand, tugging him out. He quickly poked his head back in and looked at me. "Laurence, if you want something, come let me know. You know where the study is obviously," he purred then left quickly. Milo pouted and shrunk into the couch where he had been sitting with Lyle. I looked towards Milo and gave him a smile.

"Let's watch something together," I suggested. I didn't want to get left alone so quickly. That demon is lurking around here somewhere. He looked towards me and then blushed.

"O-okay," he whispered then got to his feet and walked over to the shelves, starting to pick out a movie for us. Dmitri watched him curiously before he closed his eyes, starting to take a nap on Toma.

Silas's POV:

Lyle shut the door after I walked into the study and sat down in front of the desk and crossed his legs. I watched him closely then sat down behind the desk and leaned forward. "Do you know KV?" I asked first. It's so weird.... They look exactly alike. That has to be a brother of his from whatever family he came from- obviously the Void family.

"Yeah," Lyle whispered. "The Void family was where I was stolen from." He admitted to me and looked away. "Kingsley is the youngest son." I watched him then relaxed. So.. it's true....

"Lyle, you could've told me," I purred to him. "You're still my brother even if KV is your brother too. I'll resolve this with the council and come up with something to tell them. I won't let them question you too much about your past family because this is your family now. We grew up together here and both worked together to earn father's approval. We both mourned over our parents together too. I'm not mad that you have another brother- that you have found out where exactly you came from. I think it's great that you know, but I wish you had told me."

"I told you part and I didn't feel it necessary to tell you about KV." Lyle shrugged. "I'm surprised you found out so soon. Looks like it's a good thing I gave you the crown so that I wouldn't be frowned upon by the council. I'm sorry I kept it from you but he was my secret I wanted to keep for longer." I sighed and rubbed my head, watching him.

"I would've liked to have known as your brother, not as the king," I whispered then looked at the papers on my desk. "So... I think we'll have to throw a ball for KV soon to welcome him to the council. It might help calm them down if they have something to entertain them. It might make them forget about poking and prodding at the two of you... or I could just ask Aurelio to cast a spell on them to make them forget to do so."

"Aurelio probably has already, knowing them." Lyle sighed and looked towards me. "It's none of their business anyways. They know about the cradle robbers. They could assume whatever they like for all I care as long as they don't give us trouble." I watched him then nodded.

"Well, if you're not worried about it Lyle," I told him then smiled. "So, how are you and Milo?" I asked politely.

"He's getting closer to his five years....." Lyle whispered. "I'm very proud of the progress he made and I can't wait to celebrate his fifth death day or when he decides to be a maker himself one day." I nodded and smiled.

"That will be fun.... You know, you've been together for about four years now. You haven't done much with him as a couple except take him on trips with you to KV's and a few dates here and there. You should take him somewhere for a vacation or something... especially if you're wanting to keep him as your boyfriend. He still smells like a virgin," I teased him and laughed. "You'd think that now that you haven't been king in so long, you'd have done more with him. You could go to the Bahamas... Hawaii... France... England... or even Japan if you wanted. You know none of us would mind it as long as you didn't run away forever," I purred to him and leaned forward a little more. "Take advantage of this Lyle. You're free to do as you please with your four year old fledgling boyfriend."

"I'm sure he would like to see the world, we might plan a trip together then. Besides, it's none of your business what we're doing sexually Silas. You have loads to talk, you're not getting any action either." I laughed and shook my head at him.

"Well, it's just concern is all," I purred to him and smirked. "You know I don't have time to entertain the idea of a love life. I'm still getting everything ironed out for a smooth kingship." I stretched then and smiled. "I guess I will need a queen or a king to rule by my side eventually though.... I don't know. It seems like a lot to take on.... I've had bad luck with lovers," I told him then rubbed my head. "It might not be a good idea even in the future to look for a permanent lover."

"Stop being so negative," he chuckled out. "Your queen will come one day." I laughed and nodded.

"If you think so Lyle," I told him then leaned back in my seat. "It'll be fine.... Oh... there have been some werewolf disappearances. I think we should warn our pack. The council thinks something is out there snatching them up... possibly some new predator or another pack," I whispered.

"We should make sure to let Everest and Sylar know as well so they can tell their mates." Lyle gave a small frown as he rubbed his neck. "Those poor packs... sounds like rogues are forming.... You better go let the alpha know but he might already know." I nodded to him.

"Yeah, go tell Everest and Sylar for me, would you? Also... as a precaution, warn Everest to keep her children close to her at all times. We don't know what it is," I whispered and then picked up a letter on my desk. "I'll tell the alpha."

"I was going to," Lyle whispered and stood up. "I'll see you later brother." He left the study quickly to go let the others know. I watched him then stood up, pulling out my phone to call the alpha. It's going to be a long night... and I'm going to have to figure out what is going on with the disappearances now that I think about it....
