(Juliet's POV)I don't know what's going on right here, but it almost seemed as if I'm being played by these people. I kinda accepted Jason to sleep in the house only because it was late already, and I wouldn't want anything to happen to him since he came down here to please my son. He said he would sleep on the couch, and I agreed."He can't sleep on the couch either, mom." Eric said, straining his eyes directly at me. "The couch is hard and stiff. It will only give him body pains. We don't want that, do we?"I was dumbfounded. Since when did my reticent son become so outspoken and bold? I mean, the highest words I've seen my son speak at once is barely past a hundred. He literally changed. Or, was I the one that was getting to know my own son right now?I looked at Jason to see what he was doing. His gaze went down to the floor immediately our eyes locked."What do you suggest?" I asked, standing akimbo."There's the mattress you spread for me when I was little. He can sleep on that
(Jason's POV)I felt my hands yanked off in a flash. I didn't understand what had happened or what was happening. The sounds of someone rushing to his feet woke me up. It was Juliet. But why did she bolt off from the bed like that?"What the hell was that?" She muttered silently under her breath. It was morning, so everywhere was silent enough for me to hear her clearly.I think I understand what is happening now. She had bolted off from the bed because of me. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to find out that Eric was no longer between both of us. I didn't think at all. I just found my hands draw at Juliet, cuddling her in between my arms. It was those same arms she had yanked off."Ouch, that hurts. My pride feels punctured. I didn't know you would feel like I was committing a crime by cuddling with you." My eyes twitched, melancholic. I gravely commented on how I felt about her actions. It was embarrassing that Juliet now feels that my arms were a form of violation to
(Alice’s POV)“Juliet, c-can you come around? Like, right now. I need you.” I said over the phone, resisting the urge to break down crying. I really can’t believe that Judah would ever think about breaking up with me. All because I mentioned surrogacy? At least, he should understand that I brought it up because I’m in dire need of my own child. And, aren’t we both?“Okay, okay. I’ll be on my way now.” Juliet responded, and I ended the call. Some minutes after I dropped the call, I heard the sounds of tires screeching at the front of the gate. I wondered if Juliet was already here, or if it was just Judah returning to the house. I strained my neck through the window and saw Juliet’s car making its way into the garage. She hurriedly pulled up, and came out of the car. The door was unlocked, so she turned the handle and there I was, standing right at the entrance, looking at her.“Is everything okay?” She asked, running towards me.“To be honest? I am not entirely sure again.” I said, sn
Chapter 70(Alice’s POV)“When will you guys be here? The party will be starting anytime soon.” Judah yelled over the phone. I didn’t need to check before knowing he was on the phone with the people who were supposed to deliver the drinks. Everything else was set, just the drinks — and the cakes which were handled by Juliet.I was dumbfounded after learning about the fact that I was pregnant. Nobody had expected it, not even me. It came as a shock when the medical test I thought would read ‘malaria’ instead read ‘pregnant’.“We have to celebrate this! I can’t describe how happy I am right now.” Judah had said when I informed him about the baby. Before I knew it, he had picked up the phone and called half of our relatives. The party would be holding today. Juliet was the one in charge of the cake. She said it was a part she had to fill, voluntarily. Since she was no stranger in our house, she brought everything she needed there and started the preparations in the kitchen.“You are supp
(Juliet's POV)"Let's gather around, please." Judah said, clinking the glass with a spoon. He got everyone's attention at once, as we all gathered ourselves to where he stood with Alice, locking hands together. He beamed with a bright smile and I read meaning to it. He was really happy right now, no doubt. The way he kept on stealing glances at Alice could prove it how drowned he is in his joy. I'm happy for him, to be honest. If you talk about patience, Judah really had a lot of it."I appreciate everyone here right now for sparing their time to celebrate me and my wife. Even if you are all friends and family, you are all worthy to be appreciated. I mean, we all waited for ten years, but see how miracles work. I can't describe how happy I am right now, but I know even if you all can't see it, you can all feel it." He pulled Alice to his side, wrapping his arms around her waist and grinning from ear to ear."I really appreciate all of you, really. Let's have a toast to more good news.
Chapter 72(Juliet’s POV)I withdrew my lips immediately I noticed how much gazes were fixated on the both of us. All the pretty feelings I felt some moments ago were replaced by timidity and awkwardness. I gently stood up from Jason’s chest, still clung up to his feet.“Are you alright?” He asked gently in a whispering tone into my ears. I dusted my clothes, and nodded with a smile.“Yes, I’m fine. Are you?” He nodded too, and we both withdrew a little bit back from the game spot.“You guys are out. You fell.” Judah said, laughing hardly along with everyone. I was not so sure of what they were laughing about. Who knows if it was because we were out of the game, or because of the lovey-doveyd staring game we were playing after we fell. Whichever one it was, I didn’t really care much about it. I gestured my finger at the rope that still bound us both, and Judah moved unto us to untie it.“Next is Harry and his wife.” Judah announced while everyone cheered out loudly. We knew we needed
(Jason’s POV)I wouldn’t overstate it, but then it won’t be a lie either if I said all I could think about when I was in the office was about the date I would be going with Juliet. It reached a point where my secretary had to touch my arm before I jeered back to reality. She said I must have been long lost in thoughts, and yes, I was.I re-checked the place I have booked for the date earlier today. Even that was a hard choice. I had to constantly suffer from the decision to see if going to sailing in Newport in Rhode Island would be better, or if I should take a hot air balloon ride in Albuquerque. In the end, I didn’t choose either of them. I ended up choosing the Grand Carousel Bar since it was closer, and I think, more elegant. It was almost 6pm. I picked up my phone to briefly remind Juliet about the date again, and confirm her availability. For all I know, she might no longer be available, so checking in to confirm would be a wise thing to do.“Good evening. I’ll come to pick you
(Juliet’s POV)“You guys should place those things properly or they will fall apart while you are about to move them.” I instructed, pointing to the stack of containers that were stacked upon one another.I turned around to check for Simone who was lurking behind me like a plague. He kept on whispering into my ears about how Jason was waiting for me right outside, but I needed to pan things out at first before I leave the bakery. I don’t want to get back and find out almost all the orders have been mismatched with the wrong delivery.“Are you sure you have properly packed all the orders for the birthday party of the CEO of Romanoff Company? I won’t get skinned alive because of you.”“Of course, you won’t. I already did all of that.”“What about the delivery? Have you checked in with…?”“I got it covered. I got everything covered, ma’am. The only thing you need to do right now is to see Mr. Jason. He has been outside for some minutes now.”“Okay, okay. Just put it at the back of your m
