Chapter 72

(Juliet’s POV)

I withdrew my lips immediately I noticed how much gazes were fixated on the both of us. All the pretty feelings I felt some moments ago were replaced by timidity and awkwardness. I gently stood up from Jason’s chest, still clung up to his feet.

“Are you alright?” He asked gently in a whispering tone into my ears. I dusted my clothes, and nodded with a smile.

“Yes, I’m fine. Are you?” He nodded too, and we both withdrew a little bit back from the game spot.

“You guys are out. You fell.” Judah said, laughing hardly along with everyone. I was not so sure of what they were laughing about. Who knows if it was because we were out of the game, or because of the lovey-doveyd staring game we were playing after we fell. Whichever one it was, I didn’t really care much about it. I gestured my finger at the rope that still bound us both, and Judah moved unto us to untie it.

“Next is Harry and his wife.” Judah announced while everyone cheered out loudly. We knew we needed

(Jason’s POV)I wouldn’t overstate it, but then it won’t be a lie either if I said all I could think about when I was in the office was about the date I would be going with Juliet. It reached a point where my secretary had to touch my arm before I jeered back to reality. She said I must have been long lost in thoughts, and yes, I was.I re-checked the place I have booked for the date earlier today. Even that was a hard choice. I had to constantly suffer from the decision to see if going to sailing in Newport in Rhode Island would be better, or if I should take a hot air balloon ride in Albuquerque. In the end, I didn’t choose either of them. I ended up choosing the Grand Carousel Bar since it was closer, and I think, more elegant. It was almost 6pm. I picked up my phone to briefly remind Juliet about the date again, and confirm her availability. For all I know, she might no longer be available, so checking in to confirm would be a wise thing to do.“Good evening. I’ll come to pick you

He kept on whispering into my ears about how Jason was waiting for me right outside, but I needed to pan things out at first before I leave the bakery. I don’t want to get back and find out almost all the orders have been mismatched with the wrong delivery.“Are you sure you have properly packed all the orders for the birthday party of the CEO of Romanoff Company? I won’t get skinned alive because of you.”“Of course, you won’t. I already did all of that.”“What about the delivery? Have you checked in with…?”“I got it covered. I got everything covered, ma’am. The only thing you need to do right now is to see Mr. Jason. He has been outside for some minutes now.”“Okay, okay. Just put it at the back of your m

Chapter 75(Juliet’s POV)I was ready even before Jason called to tell me he would soon be coming. It was a Wednesday evening, but I was not in my bakery. I waited at home instead to graciously pick a beautiful dress. I wanted this last date to happen so badly. Not because I wanted to get rid of Jason, but because I’m so eager to know what my decision will be after all.I sat on the couch, smiling at all the memories of our past we shared when we were together. Now that I look at it, it was so funny remembering the facial expression that was plastered on Jason’s face when the news about our marriage being fake first got revealed. It was a funny distress face that just happened to pop up in my head right now. I chuckled gently at it.My phone rang afterwards, and on the screen display was Jason’s name. I knew he was calling me to see if I was ready to be picked up. I picked the call.“Hello.”“See you in the next three minutes?”“Yes, I’m ready.” I said, and he dropped the call. I brie

(Juliet’s POV)“Is that really you?” Julia asked while I simply stared her down, surprised. If I was told I would be meeting my own sister right here in flesh, I would have definitely argued it. Since the whole ten and half years, I distance myself from my family the same way I distanced myself from Jason. Jason noticed the expression of uneasiness that ran through my face and asked me if I was okay, with a whisper. I nodded.“You mean to tell me that after all of these years everyone has been looking through all nook and cranny for you, you are alive and well? Even mom and dad thought they lost their daughter already. Do you even know how much worried they were, and how much I had to pacify them when they started crying because they thought you were dead? And all this while, you are with a man?” She asked sarcastically, but I wasn’t saying a thing. I didn’t have time for all of Julia’s nonsense and trouble. In fact, I don’t want to have anything to do with her, and the only reason I

(Juliet’s POV)I picked up the picture I had where all of my family was in — Julia, mom and dad. It brought back some memories I deeply wanted to ignore, but it just keeps on flushing at me. I waved it off, remembering what Jason had said. If not for Jason, I would never think of going back to that house. Never. But today, after I had told them of my existence, I would be going there for a family dinner. I wondered how it will go.Eric was still in school. I didn’t want to leave him all alone in the bakery since I won’t be there. I picked up my phone and made a call across to Jason.“Hello, Jason.” I said, followed by the sounds of my light breaths.“Darling. Are you there already?” He asked. I understood that he meant the family dinner, but that was not what I called him for.“No, not yet. I’m all prepared though.” I said. “If you are not busy, can you pick Eric up after school? I don’t want him to be all alone at the bakery since Alice will not be there.”“Of course, I can do that. I

(Juliet’s POV)It was as though I dropped a bomb shell on my parents when I told them that I already have a child over all the years I left. It came as a surprise to them. I decided to tell them because I was not in to hiding anything from anyone. They took it as an extremely great piece of news, asking me to bring Eric to them. I expected it when I told them anyways, so it didn’t faze me at all when I heard it from them. Here, I was reading Eric a book to help him sleep. Enid Blyton’s The Faraway Tree was one of his favorite books ever. Even I couldn’t count how many times I’ve read each chapter to him to help him sleep.“Eric?” I called, gently stoking his hair. He looked up to me upon my call, posing an inquisitive face.“Yes, mom?” He responded, still staring directly at me.“Would you like to meet my mom and dad?” I asked, and he quickly rose up. He put on the same surprised reaction he wore when I told him he would be meeting Jason. The only difference was that this time around,

One of the things I extremely hated was watching my preparations falter, and that is why I always had a backup plan for my backup plans. I am that meticulous.“It’s late. Let’s rest a little bit at the hotel.” I told Juliet, offering her my hand. She took it, smiling, as we both took our luggage to the hotel I already booked.I had my research properly before coming all over to Los Angeles. My research showed me that one of the best hotels to be in during vacations was the Hotel Normandie, and that was exactly why I booked it. I wanted the best for both of us, so we could both enjoy the two-day trip. It won’t be so interesting and memorable if every single thing I chose isn’t worthwhile. And, moreover, it was near the airport, so it won’t be such a hassle to retreat there after any journey we em

(Juliet’s POV)“So, how far do you visualize your company in years to come?” Jason asked while we dug into the steak. It felt uncomfortable asking such questions during this time where we were supposed to say something romantic to each other, but I disregarded it and answered him.“I have set my goals right from the onset. I started by being the biggest baker in the city, then the state, soon it will be the country. Then the continent and the world.”“The world? Hmmm. Do you really think that’s possible? What do you intend to do to make that dream be realized?”“It’s simple. I’ll just keep on doing what I’ve been doing.”“And what have you been doing?”“Being consistent and reasonable. It has helped me up to this stage. I want to believe it will keep on helping me.” I answered, focusing all my attention on the steak that was right before me. (Juliet’s POV)For some weeks now, I’ve kept noticing that something was wrong with me. Especially my mood, the way it goes on and off is really worth to be questioned. The worst part would probably be how some of my favorite foods were starting to irritate me and make me feel as if I wanted to puke.“Are you alright?” Jason asked with Eric in his laps. Both of them were staring at me as I hit my chest for the fourth time in a row. They noticed that something was off about how I was behaving, and the way I had shaped my mouth too.“Mom?” Eric asked, and I nodded.“I am alr…” I had wanted to respond both of them that I was okay. And that I was only feeling something rise up in me abnormally, but I was cut short by the way the ‘thing’ suddenly gassed up inside me, fueled. I ran to the toilet, burying my head inside the water sink, and letting myself pour out all that vomit.Jason was behind me, covering Eric’s face as I puked into the white sink. (Juliet’s POV)The wedding party was over. The only thing left right now was for the newly wedded couples to leave for their honeymoon.I couldn’t possibly count how many wishes and prayers were devoted towards Jason and me with each steps we took. It was as though there were people placed around everywhere we were walking past.“Hey girl, you are good.” Alice said, kissing me on the cheek and hugging me so tightly. “Make sure tonight is memorable. Check your luggage, I dropped something in it. Make sure that’s what you wear tonight.”“You are naughty.” I said, spanking her on the butt. I knew exactly what she was talking about. I didn’t need anybody to tell me Alice was fantasizing about me having sex with Jason tonight, but it was less awkward compared to the first time, actually.“That’s what makes life spicy, no?” She said and we both burst out laughing. Jason pulled up the car in front of me, meaning that everything was set and we were supposed to leave already. I hopped into the

(Juliet’s POV)Alice rushed into the toilet, vomiting into the white sink that was right in front of her. She opened the tap and cleaned her mouth with the water that ran through it. I was behind her, watching her as she cleaned herself up. While she did her thing, all that was in my mind was fear. Was my best friend sick when it is the morning of my wedding day? Oh shit, I hope not.“Are you alright? Is everything okay?” I asked, moving closer to her as I wiped her wet face off with the handkerchief that was with me. She stood up upright and looked at me, nodding as a response to my question.“Yeah, I’m okay. I was just dizzy and suddenly felt irritated inwardly. That was why I vomited. Nothing is wrong with me, so put your mind at rest and let’s get you prepared.” She said, plastering a smile on her face. However, I still had some doubts about Alice. Part of me felt like she was only pretending to be strong because she didn’t want me to feel guilty as I would head down the alter lat

(Juliet’s POV)I went to the bridal shop to get my wedding gown. Alice and Julia asked to tag along to check how perfect it was. There was Adam too who begged to follow; I allowed him since he was gay anyways, and seeing me in the wedding gown wouldn’t mean a thing to him.We got to the bridal shop wherein I went into the changing room to put my wedding gown on. Alice, Julia and Adam waited for me outside the changing room, straining their eyes to see what I was going to show them anyways. I was done putting on the wedding gown, so I pushed aside the curtain at the changing room, stepping outside with so much finesse and beauty. I had hardly taken more than two steps when I was met with series of claps from the three of them. It sounded like a rainstorm, carrying so much of excitement.“Wow. Your gown is preeeeetty. I’m jealous.” Alice said, holding the tip of the gown and caressing it with so much care. I blushed at her words, praising myself for having a good eye for the gown, and c

(Juliet’s POV)I was going to be getting married to Jason few days after today. We were both in the room right now looking through the list of what we needed for the wedding to confirm if we haven’t left anything out at all. Jason and I skimmed through the lists, checking out what we already have ready on ground.“The wedding gown?” Jason asked, holding out the list.“Checked. Although I will have to go check it out in my room later.” I replied, and he ticked it up in the list that was with him.“I think we are all set. Everything is ready and all checked. I’m really happy and anxious.” Jason said, dropping the list to hold my hands.“Yeah, me too. I can’t describe how happy I am right now.” I said, burying my head under his broad chest. “I will be leaving your hotel room to mine today though. I won’t be staying with you here again. It’s our wedding soon, we can’t keep on seeing each other.”He scratched his head playfully, giving me a type of gaze that suggested to me that he underst

(Juliet’s POV)It was so surprising when I suddenly heard a group of people said ‘congratulations’ at the same time behind me, and clapping towards us. I withdrew my lips from Jason’s, trying to see who they were. They were my family. Julia, Alice and Judah too were among them. I saw Eric’s face twitching with delight. I figured out he understood what was going on even if he was just a little kid.“I’m happy for you, Juliet.” Alice said, wrapping her hands around me. I did the same, too, patting my best friend in the back as she started wishing me good luck and prayers. It would be an understatement to say that everything that happened here today, and that was going to happen in the future, regarding my happiness with my family, was all because of Alice. She was a friend that stood by me through my thick and thin. Even I didn’t know how well I could thank Alice. But, I started it simple first.“Thank you.” I said, as tears rolled down my cheeks as I remembered everything I had been th

We thought we had asked all of them to leave the room for us when we were about to talk. Who knew mom was still by the door eavesdropping on everything we had said? Hehehe.“I heard everything, darlings. I couldn’t resist the urge to put my ears behind the door and listen to all that you were saying. And it so lovely and beautiful to know that both of my daughters have been able to solve their differences and finally reconcile. This time around, she had stopped leaning back on the entrance and was standing on her own right now.“Well, you tell me, because the signs of your jealousy are there, sis.
