Once we arrive back at the pack house, Amora comes rushing over to make sure we are all alright. "What happened! Is everything okay? Did you find Quin?" She rushes out.
"Mom, everything is fine but we will talk more in a while. I don't want to worry the rest of the pack until we know what all is going on. Quin will be okay though so don't worry. Did the dinner go smoothly while we were gone?" Dante asks.
"Yes, everything went fine. I just told them that you guys were working on the ceremony for tomorrow." Amora explains.
The ceremony! With everything going on I forgot all about it. I can't help but wonder if now is the best time to do it with what just happened.
"Are you sure that we should still follow through with the ceremony? Should we wait for things to become clearer before we go on with it?" I ask Dante.
"Of course not, the rest of the pack would start to worry if we cancelled the ceremony this soon before we do it. I would ratheIt takes a couple more hours for Quin to finally wake up. When I hear Scarlett's excited gasp, I jerk up out of an uncomfortable sleep to see Quin's eyes open. Dante is still half asleep next to me so I give him a small shove to wake him up. He looks confused for a second before realizing what is going on and smiling at Quin."Quin! You are okay. I am so glad to see you awake. You scared us all." Dante rushes out.Quin looks a little confused to see us all in the room with them. The doctor had said that it might take a little bit for the past events to come back in so we might have to give him just a little bit of time for his memories to catch up with him."I wouldn't say I am okay since I am in the hospital but, why am I in the hospital?" Quin asks confused."The doctor said that you might not remember right away but something happened to you while you were on patrol yesterday. We do not know what happened yet so we were kind of hoping that you would re
To say that it is difficult to sleep knowing that tomorrow everything changes once again is a drastic understatement. After the ceremony, I will officially be the Luna of the pack and then we get to go and learn more about my past. I have wanted to go back to my childhood home ever since I left but now that it is about to happen I find that I am terrified of it as well. What answers will I find there? Will there be more secrets to be discovered or will I finally learn more about myself and my parents? After tossing and turning most of the night I might as well get up before it even gets light out. It is not like I am going to get much more rest anyways. For once, I get up before Dante and head to the gym to try and take some of my anxiety out on the punching bag. By the time he wakes up and joins me, I am a sweaty mess but my head is feeling much clearer than it had before."Everything okay? Things seem awfully backwards this morning." Dante says.Nodding, I rep
The ceremony itself did happen to be just as painless as I was told it was going to be. The pack run though. That takes an entirely different kind of nerves. After Amora finishes up her speech and we get our round of applause, I take Dante's hand as we begin our walk back through the crowd. When I walked up it the first time, I kept my eyes on Dante and did not turn to look at anybody as I passed them. This time, I tried to smile at each person as well as shake hands or listen to my congratulations. It is hard to believe that everybody here is this happy when most of them do not even know me. A couple of weeks ago, I was just some random wolf living on the outskirts of their pack but now I am their Luna and they are all showing me a level of deference and respect that I never would have expected possible. "Are you ready for the next part?" Dante asks me worriedly. "I don't have much choice do I?" I ask. "Not really, I still care whether yo
Now that the ceremony is behind me we can focus on more pressing concerns. Besides having to strip in front of everybody I would say that it was not that bad. Of course, Dante and Amora at great supporters of me and that made it much easier to go through with the ceremony. Our next step, is going to look for my childhood home. Dante has decided to bring along 5 of his warriors that he trusts most and is leaving Kevin behind to run things while we are away. Hopefully, this will only be a one to two day trip but we are preparing for longer just in case. We sit down with the others in a conference room to plan our trip."So why are we looking for your childhood home now?" Some guy named Peter asks."Curiosity, I guess. I would like to know why my parents died and who killed them." I admit as little as possible. I know that we should trust the pack but as far as I can tell, the less they know the better and I honestly don't know much more than that anyways.&nb
The morning dawns nice and early to get ready to go and learn about my past. For some reason I expected it to be rainy and nasty out there while I was searching for my old home. Must just be me putting my emotions into how I think this day is going to go. We both get up after a long night and start getting dressed. I am opting for some clothes that are easy to move in and that I can manage to hide a knife in, since you never know what is going to happen.Dante dresses in a pair of faded jeans, and a plain v-neck tshirt that looks absolutely amazing on him. We both wear hiking boots and have hats with us. When we enter the kitchen to grab some breakfast to go, the other 5 are sitting in the kitchen waiting for us."I thought you said first thing in the morning? We have been here for about half an hour. Did she keep you up all night?" Peter says jokingly to Dante."I would rather you not talk about your Luna that way, Peter. You owe her your respect. She
Finally, everyone is here, I am dressed and it is time to go take a look inside. I have no idea what all is in here but I do know that it could be anything. I might find all of the answers that I am looking for. I also, might find more questions. As I push open the front door, I notice that it looks like somebody has been here recently. While it is just as overgrown and derelict inside as the outside is, you can still see some footprints in the dust. I point them out to Dante as I get ready to head for the note that I saw through the window. I am not sure what all is on the note but I am sure that I do not want everybody in the pack reading it. It is most likely just a goodbye not from my parents but still, I would like to see what it says before anybody else does.I take in the pink wallpaper that is covered in little princess crowns, my unicorn bedspread and the previously pink carpet with sadness. There were so many good memories here. I still find it difficul
As it is getting late, we decide to camp inside the tree line. I would like to camp closer to the cabin but with most of us sleeping at a time, anything can happen. "I think that we should take turns sleeping. Peter I want you to keep watch with one other person first. Every two hours we will switch off in groups of two. Laina will get to sleep through the night and I will be in the last set to stay awake. If you see anything you wake everybody up do you understand?" Dante practically orders everybody."What exactly are we keeping watch for? You keep acting like we are in danger but you have not told us any reason for believing that." Peter argues back as always. This guy is really starting to get on my nerves."Didn't you see the fresh tracks inside my old house? Whoever killed my parents must have been coming back for some reason. I do not want to find out what it is by being snuck up on." I say."That could have just been someone out for a hike that fou
With shaking hands, I open the letter and steal myself for what may be inside of it. Knowing that I need answers does not help the sudden sense of dread that fills me as I begin to read the letter.Laina,I know that we have not met before and I am sorry for that. My name is Elle. I am your father's mother. It might sound strange after all of this time to have me leave you a note but I am hoping that you will find it before anybody else does. What I have to tell you should be kept a secret from anybody that you do not trust completely as it could mean life or death for you.The reason that I never met you is because I am a witch. When your parents met, I tried to dissuade them from staying together as it is forbidden for one with witch blood to mix with other supernatural races. As witches, we do not tell our male offspring about supernatrual species because they cannot actually use the same type of magic that we can. Your father knew nothing about werewolves or
