"What’s happening?" Edward asked when he spotted his cousin Rufus.

"There was a breach. The guards managed to take down a few of them, but…"

"But what?" Edward pressed.

"A few of them found a way to sneak in…" Rufus sighed heavily, rubbing his forehead.

"They can’t stay here; Lillian will track them down," Davies pointed out.

"Plus, she’s desperately trying to do just that, but we really need to keep our defenses up," Rufus replied. "I think you and Davies should check the inner area. Look for anything suspicious, search around the houses, and then regroup here later. I’ll go join Lillian and Selena on the border."

"Cousin, you’re forgetting something important. You need to be with your mate," Edward argued. "She’s safer with you right now than anyone else, especially until she learns to control her powers."

"She’s completely safe," Rufus insisted.

"You have no idea. She’s a white wolf, Cousin. There are plenty of people out there just waiting for a chance to capture her
