Selena's POV

As Rufus's words reached my ears, I couldn't help but respond with a raspy voice, "What does clever have to do with liking someone?"

I shot Rufus a menacing glare. Why did he have to bring up William's name?

Besides, I no longer had any feelings for William.

Rufus plugged in the hair dryer and turned to face me, his tone growing even colder, "When you're in love, you don't act clever. Just like you now..."

"I absolutely do not love William," I nearly yelled at Rufus, turning to face him directly.

When our eyes met, my heart skipped a beat.

I lowered my gaze and softly muttered, "Who hasn't fallen for a few jerk when they were young? And, am I to blame the moon goddess for giving me a mate like William?"

I muttered under my breath, and suddenly Rufus burst into laughter, "Tell me, how many Jerk have you dated?"

Blushing, I couldn't help but smile at Rufus. He looked incredibly handsome with those dimples on both sides of his cheeks.

I quickly shook my head, "Just one.."

Lillian let out a sigh and moved away from the table filled with various small bottles. "Not much progress," she replied, and I couldn't help but clench my hand tightly. "How much more time do you need?" I asked, rubbing my hands together gently. "I'm not sure, Rufus. Rufus's POV I've been in the business world for a long time, and I've been deeply involved in my family's dangerous environment. Over the years, I've developed the ability to see into people's hearts. The moment Selena asked that question, I immediately understood what she meant. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly as I looked at her. My throat tightened, and my heart felt like it was boiling, bubbling with emotions. "I don't plan on letting you go," I finally managed to say after some thought and internal struggle. Selena's eyes instantly sparkled, and she looked at me hesitantly. The smile on her lips deepened, revealing her adorable dimples. In a soft voice, she asked, "So you don't want to let me go? Does that mean I have a chance with you, even though you have a mate?" I thought she would confess her love and ask to be my girlfriend. But I didn't need her to do that. I just wanted her to openly, simply, and passionately express her feelings for me. It’s only a matter of hours before Nireus and his men show up here," Issa said, locking eyes with Lillian. There’s a barrier that keeps out anyone with bad intentions," Davies said, his teeth clenched. He hesitated for a moment, as if recalling something important. "But how did you…" "It’s because I came here peacefully and mean no harm," Issa interrupted, cutting off Davies. "You have to believe me, Lillian. Writer's POV Lord Nireus was standing on a high stage surrounded by the clamoring crowd. His remarkable position allowed him to have a clear view on everything on the open arena. The sound of weapons colliding sounded routinely from before him, and the sound of steel tearing steel was definitely more satisfying to Lord Nireus ears than any fine instrument could be. This is the biggest field in Reds tribe. In the field, there are just two men battling each another. One of them is tall, wearing dark covering, and his swordsmanship is exceptionally powerful. The less flashy fighter facing him had no elaborate armor, just a simple layer of rust-resistant fabric that matched the color of the ground. The only decoration was a bright lion's head emblazoned on his chest. His sword skills were also significantly stronger! Surprisingly, he was nearly a head shorter than the man across from him, yet he managed to overpower his opponent with sheer strength! As the duel started
