"I tried to be strong... for you."

“Where do you think she must have gone?” asked Beth as she held onto her sister’s palm.

“We just need to walk straight ahead. Perhaps, she might be nearby somewhere…” answered Beneatha with a smile at her sister.

Her voice sounded cheering as she paced in front of her with back toward the girl.

In reality, her expression was turning pale. She was shivering with every step as her heartbeat was pumping twice.

Due to sped beat, she sweated buckets all over her structure. Her hand was slipping yet, she tighten her grip on her sister.

She said inwards,

“I need to stay calm. If I panicked, my sister would turn crazy from fear.

We are both in trouble. We both are scared but, for my sister, I need to stay strong..”

Under the night, in a quiet street, where the yellow street light glowed the road, the two little girls paced side by side, holding hands as their tiny feet carried them into nowhere.

Fear conquered them.

Hopelessness drew an endless path for their search.
