Raleigh poc
It was dawn already. I stressed my arms and cracked my knuckles. No, no, no, I'll never try this shit, ever (passing the night in the sitting room;on the ground!). I quickly got up and headed to the kitchen only to see Mason in his boxer shorts.
My mouth gaped open. I had seen the forbidden, but to be honest, this dude was damn cute. His muscles were well built, the six packs was…I'll prefer to say no more. Unlike some guys which only have undigested pancakes hanging in there. I had better control myself cause this was someone's man, why the crush?
I was quickly snapped of the thought when he gazed at me, then looked back. He was frying pancakes on one side and brewing coffee on the other.
“ Good morning,” He said. “ I trust you had a great night. I suppose that question must have been posed to Mo, why me? Anyways, I nodded slightly, forcing a smile on my face.
“ What are you preparing?” I asked even when I knew, perhaps I asked to not just look weird.
“ Pancakes and coffee.” He responded.
“ Oh.”
“ Doesn't sound interesting, does it?”
“ No, it sounds like a pretty interesting one.”
“ Thank God, but trust me, you wouldn't regret this,” he said. “ I'm a pretty good cook.”In a whisper, jokingly.
“ That's amazing.” “ I'll prefer you keep that a secret.” He said, smiling and winked at me.
“ Sure, but I never knew boys could cook.”
“ Yeah.”
“ What?” I said, confused.“ Boys mayn't know how to cook but men do.”
“ Ha, that's a good one .” I said, and looked at him, as if studying him.
“ Hey, permit me …” he said, looking at his boxer shorts as if sending a signal to me.
“ I guess I've overstayed my welcome.” He said in an apologizing manner.
“ No, absolutely not. I'm totally okay, you're Mo’s…” I said, keeping mute in order not to say out of tone.
“ Nevermind.” Even though I minded! I minded a lot,but who was I to object to his stay? He was nice, friendly, cute, and all that. I guessed he sensed my weird behavior towards him.
Mo suddenly walked in, one could tell she was just waking up but the fact that she was in her bra left me in wonder.
“ Hi sweetheart.” She said to Mason, blowing a kiss from afar.“
How was your night?” he asked.“ Hmm, words can't explain.”
“ Definitely.” He said and they both chuckled.Oh it seemed the two had gotten into something quite serious, hope she doesn't get heartbroken again cause I wouldn't be the one feeding her chocolates this time.
“ I guess I'm the ‘invisible man‘ here.” I said sarcastically, which provoked laughter in her.
“ Oh sis, pardon me. I totally forgot you were here.” She pleaded. Wow, so quick. I don't even think they're in a relationship, just a night with each other and she forgot I was standing right beside her. What happens then when she gets married? She'll probably forget I existed.
“ Impressive.” I said.“ Please don't take this seriously.” She said,
“ Come with me.” I said, and she was smart enough to figure out the anger that burned in me towards her. I walked away from the kitchen and turned when I didn't hear footsteps coming behind.
“ I said, come with me…” I said again and walked into the room. Seconds later, she came in.
“ Do you realize what you did?” I asked.“ I don't quite get you.” She replied.
“ You had sex with a guy in our room! Where did you expect me to sleep? And you know pretty well I'm not friendly with the couch.”
“ Oh that, I'm really sorry. I was cut up at the moment and didn't even think of you.”
“ Yeah, I agree with you but trust me, I'll be paying back.”
“Really?” “ Trust me.”
“ I'm sorry. Wait, how long should I keep apologizing?”
“ Till I'm satisfied.” I said and the next thing, she began tickling me and I bursted out in laughter and even fell to the ground. That was my weak point, tickling is a no no for me.
“ So are we good now?” She asked, excitedly and stopped.
“ No.” I said sternly and noticed the smile on her face fade.
“ What now?”
“ You'll have to do the dishes and chores for a week.”
“ A week? Like a whole week?”
“ Yeah, you had it correctly.”
“ Fine, I agree.” She said and rolled her eyes.
“ That's what you get for letting me sleep on the floor.”
“ Yeah, I'm sorry, hope you didn't catch a cold?”
“ I don't think so.”
“ Wait, come to think of it, how do you know we…”
“ …had sex “ I said, completing the erotic sentence for her.“ Yeah, that.”
“ You had to hear how long you were moaning.” I pulled her legs.“ What? Was I that loud?”
“ Louder than you can imagine.” I teased “ Oh my, what will he be thinking of me? I'm sure he wouldn't want to have anything to do with me again.”
“ Ha, I got you! “ I said, snapping my fingers.“ What are you talking about?”
“ You were not in any way moaning loud. Your moaning was on point. It happened…I eavesdropped on your conversation.”
“ Last time I checked, that was an invasion of someone's privacy.”
“ Not when you left me to sleep out.”“ We're playing the guilt game now?”
“ It is what it is.” I said and turned away to grab a coat from my closet when a Pillow dashed on my head.
“ Ow!” It was Mo again.
A knock was heard on the door and a voice spoke, “ Breakfast is ready “
“ Okay sweetheart, I'll be there.” Mo said, in an attempt to leave the room.
“ Don't you think you should put on a shirt?” I suggested..
. . . . . .
The table was arranged with a stack of pancakes and cheese, and cups of coffee. Mo and Mason sat opposite me and they both had indistinct conversations, giggling and …what a fool, I mumbled.
Out of their love chat, she spilled coffee on her shirt. No it wasn't hers, it was Mason's. I'm sure she'll be prepared to pay a thousand dollars for the shirt cause it looked really expensive. Wait, why wouldn't it be expensive when it's coming from a multi- millionaire?
“ I'm so sorry.” She said, trying to wipe it off, and boom, he kissed her.
“ A reminder princesses don't apologize and if you do so again, you'll be getting a truck load of kisses.
” He said, looking at her with so much admiration Ha, that's how it begins. It starts all rosy and you'll feel you were meant for each other but get right into the middle of it, no one will stop you from weeping. One can smell jealousy oozing from my thoughts but, no. I'm not jealous. I might be but their relationship seems to be something worth a lifetime and here I am, in a situation-ship,and perhaps, she'd leave me here, all alone…Mo started sniffing around and Mason chuckled, holding her against an action that was yet to be displayed.
“ Ha, I smell jealousy…” she said and turned to Mason.
“ Do you smell it too?”
“ Really?” I said and tossed a pancake on her face.
“ Please don't hurt my princess.” Mason said, in a cartoon voice and we all bursted into laughter.
“ That's a good one. How do you do it?” I asked with my face still beaming.
“ Mastery.” He said, and took his gaze out to the sun.I couldn't help but laugh harder. How could he be so funny when he sees life as a burden? I remembered his statement when we walked home last night. I guess those who bring smiles on others’ faces are, in most cases, the saddest.
“ You're such a clown.” I commented.
“ I'll take that as a compliment.” He replied.
Immediately, Mo took her coffee and slurped while sipping. I undoubtedly knew she was up to something.“ Don't you think we should talk about your work? Your meeting with Mr. Hunt?” Mo said, looking at me in an awkward way that I'll take to be funny.
I got what she did there. She thinks I'm flirting with him. Hell, no. I'm not that kind of person.
“ Yeah…” Mason said, in an aroused interest.
“ That guy Logan is not someone I can work with, never.” I said and took a bite of my pancake.
“ Remember you're doing this to get a promotion. You should be willing to do anything. You have to work with him” Mo said.
“ Never mind anything he said, he acts like that sometimes but I promise you'll be pleased when you get to know him better. He's a kind and gentle soul.” He said.
Kind and gentle soul my foot, I thought to myself. First impressions always matter, as they say, but the impression he gave me on our first meeting was not one that displayed a kind attitude.
“ How am I supposed to believe that? That lad is cruel.”
“ You'll see for yourself.” Mo said, as if she knew him.
“ There'll be a party on Tuesday at the company. So, you should be there. Mind you, dignitaries will be there and you might meet “the one” “ He said.
“ Yeah, you're right, Mason. That's a great idea for you to consider.” Mo said.
“ I'm not going there in search of a lover. I'm going on a business trip.”
“ Let's see…” Mo said
Hmph, I'm indeed tired of that girl. I wish she could be put out for sale. A million dollars will be manageable on my side.
“ Bye!” She said and slammed the door in excitement and jumped on me.
“ Hey, get off me.” I said, slapping her ass.
“ That belongs only to Mason. How dare you touch it?” She said and got off me.
“ Really? You've just met this guy and you're putting so much entitlement to him. Now he owns your ass.”
“ Yep.” She said and dashed to the settee,as if lost in thought.
“ What are you thinking about?”
“ That guy is damn good in bed. He fucks me well.”
“ Ew, that's such an indecent thing to say.
I don't want to know about it.”
“ Well, you asked me. He is literally and ultimately the best guy ever. And most importantly, with a kind heart.”
“ I know that, keep it to yourself.”
“ I just wanted you to know. “
“ Silly. Tell me something else.
” I said.“ I have nothing else to say.”
“ Guess what?”
“ Your crush asked you out in a dream and a few months later, he proposed to you and you turned him down.
” She said, When can she ever be serious?
“ Nooo. I'm being serious now.”
“ You know I don't have an idea. Tell me.”
“ I got a message from Mikel saying I should be at work today.”
“ That asshole. It's past time,” she said and stared at the wall clock.
“ It's eleven already.”
“ I'm aware of that. I chose not to because today is the weekend and I never signed up to work on weekends. So where are all these coming from?”
“ But you love your job right? You should be willing to do anything for it."
“ You're right. I hope my job is still secure.”
“ I hope so,and Leigh, this could be a bait by Mikel.“
“ Oh my goodness, you're so right.” Ahhh, I screamed and stamped my feet. I quickly rushed into the bathroom, did the things normal people do in there and got out, I guess. Not me again finding it difficult to pick a dress again. I quickly screamed out for Mo and she came running to me.
“ What? What?” Fear was written all over her face.“ Please, I need your help.”
“ Was there a need to scream my name that way?” She asked.
“ I'm sorry. I'm just tensed right now and time isn't on my side.”
“ Ok?”
“ Please, what dress do I wear?”
“ Anything.”
“ Not anything. I need to wear something that can tell I'm sober and genuinely sad.”
“ Fine, wear the black dress over there.
” Hmm, could there possibly be anyone that can replace her in my life?
“ You're the best!
” I grinned.“ I know that.” She said, rolling her eyes and left.
Work, here I come. I hope everything turns out well.
Raleigh povFear gripped my soul as I made entry into my office. No one was present. I had to check my time only to discover it was past twelve. There was no Victoria, no Jason nor the piece of trash in human form. Hmph, you know him, of course Mikel.“ Hello?” I said, hoping to get a response from obviously no one.My heart raced now, where could they have gone? I proceeded into looking for Jason first. I ran into the secretary’s palatable office, he wasn't there. Normally, that was where he hung out cause he secretly disclosed to me he had a crush on her, which was enough reason for him to be there, but nope, he wasn't.Wait, I just remembered the receptionist wasn't at her post either, what could be going on, I asked myself. Or could it be a prank? Because I had watched stuff like that on Tik Tok and they turned out to be pranks. Oh my, this wasn't getting funny anymore. I rushed to other offices and found no one. Mr. Dunner’s door which was usually open was not. Something must re
Raleigh povHe is one of a kind.“That jerk will get a piece of my mind!” I mumbled, puffing.“Did you say something?”“No,no.” I said, snapping out of my thoughts.“Please forget everything that happened. Act like nothing ever occurred.” He said, with a face filled with disappointment. I nodded in response.“Hey Mr. Dunner,” I called.“Yes Leigh.”“You're every woman's dream, one in a million, please don't feel inferior for not accepting your love. As much as I don't feel anything for you, you'll meet “the one” soon. Sooner than you think.”“Yeah, I get it. That isn't a problem.” He said, forcing a smile onto his face. I knew then that I had failed him for not feeling the same way, but…I couldn't help.“Should I tell you something?”“Of course.” “ You're the best boss ever, and the woman who will later end up with you will be the luckiest woman. “I said. I knew everything I said wasn't helping in any way but I needed to spill it all out, because truly, he is the best boss ever.“Thank
“We're here ma'am.” The chauffeur said, pulling up in front of my house.“Thank you Mr. Carter.” I said. I picked up my bags (gifts included)and files, then the Chauffeur got out of the car,and held the door for me to get off. And I did. There was me, being treated like a queen.(Presumably I was, durhh.)“Send my greetings to Mr. Dunner.” I said and he nodded.I stood at the doorstep and watched him drive off. Wow, I couldn't believe I was in that Limousine. Imagine I'm that wealthy, that's the luxury I'll have.“Boo!!” I heard from behind, which made my heart jump out of its abode.Oh no, it was Mo again, with her childish mode turned on, I thought and rolled my eyes.“You scared the fuck out of me.” I said, holding on to my chest.“Aww, don't be scared of cutie pie.” She teased.“You shouldn't have approached me in that manner.”“Really?”“Just know, the moment I'm diagnosed with High blood pressure, I'm coming for you.” I teased.“And I'll always be here. Forget all that, who was th
The night I waited for. It was cold. All were dressed in tuxedos, leaving the ladies in strapless dinner gowns.I silently cursed the decorator. You want to know why? The design was too luxurious and extravagant for my liking. See me talking like it was my party. Behave Leigh!, I cautioned myself. There were disco balls hanging and the DJ rocking different beats which I found inappropriate at the peak. Deep down, I knew it would have been Mason’s idea cause he was a party animal. From nowhere, I pitied the grumpy Logan Hunt, the big cheese of California. Perhaps he hated the decor as well.I only predicted that because of his cold character. Maybe he liked it.Then I sited Mo and Mason, vibing to the beats the DJ made. I deeply sighed at their foolishness. Then I saw them approaching me with a drink in their hands.“See who we have here Mo!” Mason said, still moving his body to the beats.“Yes. You're rocking this dress baby girl.” Mo said and shot me a grin.It was a red short straples
I bluntly nodded off the question. I think it was time already. I had to do this.“Where is Logan?” I asked.“He should be inside. Mason said, pointing to a building in the distance."Oh, shit." I muttered. I handed the drink with me to Mo and went away, heading towards the building. I remembered them.I forgot my materials: my camera, tripod and notepad. I quickly rushed back into the venue and got my equipment which sat quietly on a chair.“Good boy.” I commended it.I bravely walked with the equipment in my hands to the building where Mason pointed to.“You have to do this.” I muttered to myself .I had barely walked half the field when I realized it was a large one, like a standard football pitch. Then I wondered to myself, is this how far I will walk just to see Logan? Then I heard a voice scream my name in the distance, it was Mason's.“Leigh! Leigh!” He called out, with his hand wagging in the air.“Come back! Come back!!” He said and I noticed things weren't funny anymore.I b
I still stood there, gasping for breath after that asshole’s attempt to strangle me, my heart racing with a mix of fear and rage.Mouths in the room had started mummering as the hefty hands of the security guards restrained Logan, who was still fumming with rage. Why the anger? I thought.Mo rushed to my side, her eyes wide with concern.“Are you alright?” She asked, trembling slightly. I nodded, trying to keep my breathing to be on point.“I think I'm okay, just shaken up.” I replied, my voice hoarse.Francesca, was looking pale and shaken herself, fiddling with her phone… What was she doing?Within minutes, uniformed officers arrived at the scene, their presence adding to the the gravity of the situation. The police immediately questioning everyone involved, gathering statements. It was my turn now…to give my side of the story. I recounted my version of the scene, explaining I was there for an interview with the dick head,,Logan, directed by Mason. Then he flamed up, claiming I assa
“Officer, she’s lying,” Francesca said at the top of her voice as she reached out to the police officer questioning me. What the hell did she mean by “I was lying”?I was saying the facts, I said exactly what had happened. I looked at her, it was more of a glare actually, almost seeing through.I shifted my gaze to the police questioning me. Come to think of it, this wasn’t a matter to be handled by the police. So why the hell was this happening? Fine, I knew I was wrong to have broken the vase, but he caused it. He ignored me and that was the only way I got his attention.I tucked my hair behind my ear as I saw Logan on a phone call. It seemed pretty serious. Our eyes suddenly met as I removed it, shifting my focus back to the police officer. I swallowed deeply,“officer, don’t listen to this girl. The exact thing I had told you was what happened, don’t listen to her.”“Why the lies, Raleigh? You did. What do I stand to by bearing false witness against you? I’m all ears, tell me.”I
Raleigh’s POVA smile curled against my lips. Oh, my goodness. He’d better be joking. My heart beamed with joy as I heard those words: “I’ll pay” It couldn’t be true.I ran as swift as my leg could carry, to him. I hid the joy in me.“Are you sure about this?” I asked, looking straight into his eyes. I needed to be sure. I couldn’t just let him take my burdens just because we were friends. He bent towards me, his foreheads almost colliding,“Ask me again and I’ll change my mind.” He said in a low voice and we chuckled. Could I have asked for a better friend than this? A friend who would be there in your highs and lows. I took Mo’s hand in mine, squeezing it.“Officer, no need to make matters worse. Raleigh is not going anywhere with you. I’ll make the payment to my friend.” Mason said, a hand in his pocket, and eyes targeted at the cop.It seemed the cop wanted to be reluctant, but stopped. He knew who was making that offer. He knew it was no random guy.It was a man with the cash tha
Logan’s POVIt had been a week of chaos and unanswered questions, and the city streets offered the only reprieve I could find. Driving through the bustling nightlife in my Benz, I tried to clear my mind. The soft hum of the engine was soothing, but no amount of speed could quiet the storm of thoughts raging inside me. Francesca’s name lingered like a ghost in my head, her voice from our last conversation echoing in my ears. The woman was a master of manipulation, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that she had her fingerprints all over the mess between Leigh and me. Every time I thought I’d left Francesca in the past, she found a way to creep back into my life. And now, with Leigh in the picture, it felt deliberate—like she was trying to dismantle everything I cared about. The streets were alive with energy: neon signs flickered, couples walked arm in arm, and laughter spilled ou
Leigh’s POVI sat on the couch, legs folded under me, staring at the wall like it held all the answers I needed. My head felt heavy, and my chest even more so. Everything was going wrong. The whispers at work, the photos online, the endless judgment. It all pressed down on me like a weight I couldn’t carry anymore.Mo walked into the room, a steaming cup of tea in her hand. She placed it gently on the table in front of me and sat down beside me.“You’ve been sitting there all day,” she said softly, like she was afraid her words might shatter me.I shrugged, still staring at the wall. “What else am I supposed to do, Mo? Pretend everything’s fine? Because it’s not. My life’s falling apart.”Mo reached over and put a hand on my shoulder. “Leigh, I know it feels like that right now, but this isn’t the end. You’ll get through this.”I turned to her, my eyes stinging with unshed tears. “How, Mo? How am I supposed to get through this? Everywhere I turn, people are talking about me. At work,
Logan’s POVThe knock on my office door was sharp and impatient. Before I could answer, the door opened, and Mr. Grayson stepped in. His face was red, and his jaw was tight. I knew immediately this wasn’t going to be a friendly visit.“Logan,” he said, slamming the door behind him. “We need to talk. Now.”“Good morning to you too, Mr. Grayson,” I said, forcing a calm tone. I gestured to the chair across from me. “Please, have a seat.”“I won’t be sitting,” he snapped, his voice cold. “Explain this nonsense!”He threw a newspaper onto my desk. I didn’t need to look at it to know what it was about. The headline blared something ridiculous about me being caught with a “secret lover.” The photo of Leigh and me was front and center.I sighed, l
Logan’s POVI stared at the headlines on my phone, my stomach twisting. The photo of Leigh and me was everywhere. The media was having a field day, spinning the narrative as if we were more than an interviewer and her subject. The words burned into my eyes: “Logan Hunt and Mysterious Woman: Secret Affair Exposed?”This wasn’t just unfair—it was cruel. Leigh didn’t ask for this, and now her career might be at risk. All because she had the misfortune of crossing paths with me.I tossed my phone onto the desk and rubbed my temples. My mind raced, trying to figure out who would stoop this low. Only one name stood out. Francesca. She always had a knack for stirring trouble. Ever since we broke up, she’d been bitter, finding ways to remind me she could still cause chaos in my life. I had no proof it was her, but my gut told me she was involved.
Leigh’s POVI kept staring at the comments, my hands shaking. Who would take such a private moment and share it with the world? My stomach twisted as I scrolled through the comments. People were calling me names, questioning my character. Some said I was using Logan for money, others thought I was unfit for my job.I couldn’t stay in the office and wait for anything, I needed to talk to Logan.I got dressed quickly, my heart racing. I just grabbed my bag and headed out the door. The ride to Logan’s office felt like forever. My thoughts were loud, questions circling in my mind. How could he let this happen? Why didn’t he warn me?When I got to his office, I stormed past the receptionist. She tried to stop me, but I wasn’t in the mood. “I need to see Logan,” I said, my voice sharp. She stood up, looking worried. “Ma’am, he’s in a meeting.”“I don’t care,” I snapped, walking straight to his door and pushing it open.Logan was sitting at the head of a long table, his board members around
Logan’s POVThe morning had started out normal, calm. I was just getting ready to head into the office when my phone buzzed. I ignored it, thinking it was probably just a random email or reminder, but then it buzzed again, then again, and again. That was strange. When I finally picked it up, my screen was flooded with notifications—texts, emails, missed calls. I blinked, trying to process what was going on. My heart picked up a bit. Something felt off, but I couldn’t tell what it was yet.I decided to open one of the news alerts to see what was happening. And then I saw it. Right there, on the front page of a popular news site, was a picture of me… and Leigh. We were close, her face right up to mine, and my hand was wrapped around her waist. It was unmistakable; we were kissing. It was the kind of photo that left no room for guessing. For a second, I couldn’t even move. I just stared at the screen, trying to process what I was looking at. How? How could this picture be out there? I di
Leigh’s POVI sat down, trying to steady my breath, but then I saw him. Mikel. He was standing by the coffee machine, acting casual, as if the last few days hadn’t happened, as if the tension in the office wasn’t because of him. The same smug look I had come to know so well was still plastered on his face, and his eyes flicked to me, almost daring me to make a move.I wasn’t going to let him win. Not today. The buzz of the office seemed to drown out everything around me, the whispers becoming more audible. It felt like the whole room was waiting for something to happen, and I wasn’t about to give them the satisfaction of seeing me crumble.I stood up abruptly, not giving myself time to second-guess. I walked toward him, my steps firm, my mind set. My heart was pounding in my chest as I approached, but I pushed everything down. There was no time for fear. No time for weakness. When I was just behind him, I stopped. The weight of the tension in the air was palpable, almost suffocating,
Leigh's POVEverything felt wrong.I sat on my bed, staring at my phone, feeling like the world was too heavy. It was like a big dark cloud was hanging over me, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t shake it away. I didn’t want to think anymore, but the thoughts kept coming, swirling around in my head. I felt like there was no way out, like everything I had tried so hard for was just slipping through my fingers.Just then, my phone buzzed loudly, making me jump. I picked it up, my hands shaking as I looked at the name on the screen. It was Mikel. My heart sank deeper. I knew him well—he is someone who makes things hard for me. He’d say rude things, give me mean looks, and laugh when I made a mistake. But this felt different. I didn’t want to answer, but I knew I had to.I held my breath and pressed the answer button. “Hello?” My voice sounded small, like I was a tiny bug he could squish.Mikel’s
Logan’s POVI was sitting at my desk, thinking about work. Mason, came in with a big smile on his face. He looked excited, and I couldn’t help but smile back.“Hey, Logan!” Mason said. “You won’t believe what I just heard!”“What’s up?” I asked, curious.“We have a new investor, remember? I just got off the phone with him. He loves what we’re doing!” Mason said, his eyes shining with excitement.“Really?” I said, sitting up straighter. “That’s great news! What did he say?”Mason leaned closer, his voice low. “He thinks our idea is going to make a lot of money. He believes in us, man!”I felt a rush of happiness. It was nice to know that someone believed in our work. “This is awesome! What does this mean for us?”“It means we can grow our business faster. We can hire more people and maybe even make our product even better,” Mason explained, bouncing a little in his seat.I thought about it for a moment. “Wow, that sounds amazing! I really want to make this work. We’ve worked so hard.”“
