Chapter six: Nightmares

      Nigel's Pov

       I woke up in the middle of the night. I had a nightmare. It was Jenna. I knew that bitch was alive. I will find you. I stood up and I went to the living room. I saw one of my guards and he approached me immediately.

      "Sir, I have an update". He said. "Let's hear it", I replied. "You were right. She never died", he replied. "Didn't I tell you?", So what's the news?", I asked impatiently. "Apparently, she was saved by someone powerful. The police doesn't even know who it was. All they were told was that it had been resolved." He said and I sighed.

       "Figure out who it is. I don't care how long it takes", I said.  Sleep tight Jenna, I'm on my way.

        Jenna's Pov

        I prayed silently till it was day break. I had another nightmare. I died. In the nightmare, I met up with Skye and her team and after the meeting, we stepped out and heard a gunshot. I fell down realizing that I was the one that had been shot. I saw Nigel coming over with a smirk on his face.

       I couldn't get that image out of my head. I don't think I can do this. I ran to the door and locked it. Mei would certainly be here any moment and I can't let her convince me to go out. Few seconds later, I heard a knock on the door. It was Mei.

        "Open up Jenna", She said and I hide under the duvet. She knocked again and I felt my head ringing. "Go, away", I said as tears streamed down my face. "I can't Jenna", She replied. "Incase you forgot, you're supposed to meet Skye and her team today", She added.

  "I don't want to go", I said as I couldn't control my tears anymore. "Do you wanna talk about it?", Mei asked. "I'll always listen to you, all you have to do is open the door", She added. "No", I retorted. "If I open the door, I know you'll convince me to go", I added. I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in. I turned on the tap hoping the sound of water running will calm me down.

     

   "Fuck", Mei said as she took out her phone. Skye was calling. "Hey, something came up. We'll be there soon", Mei said as she hung up. "Jenna, open up", Mei said as she knocked again. She heard no response.

       What am I to do now?. Mei ran her hands through her hair and took out her phone. She dialed Kai's number, but he didn't answer the call. "Shit, this is just great", Mei said as she called Skye.

       "I think we might have to reschedule", Mei said and hung up. She went downstairs, grabbed her purse and left Kai's house.

       SKYE'S POV

       I sighed as I dropped the phone. "Apparently, Jenna wanted to reschedule", I said. "Sorry guys", I added as I waited for my team to say something. "It's fine", Cathy said"we can always reschedule", She added. "Yeah", Juan replied and they all left. "Bye guys", I said. When they left I slumped into the chair.

      Maybe she's not interested anymore. Kun was right, I'm a failure. I sniffled as I heard my phone ring, it was Kun. Talk of the devil. I hesitated before I answered the call. "Hey", I said as I closed my eyes waiting for him to insult me as usual. "Hi, are you busy?", He said. "Not really, I replied. "You're at a Cafe, right?", He asked. "Yeah", I replied. "Okay, I'm on my way", he said and hung up. I finally calmed down when I dropped my phone.

        Few minutes later, Kun entered the cafe. I started to panic, I didn't know what to do. Well, I didn't have time to think as he walked towards me. I swallowed and I tried my best to smile. "Hi again", Kun said and I flashed a smile. "Are you here by yourself?", He asked and I nodded. "Allow me to apologize again", Kun said and I got pissed. "You don't have to apologize, it's not like you were wrong. I am colour blind.", Skye said. "I know I'm a failure", She added. "You don't have to rub it in", Skye said and Kun sighed.

      "I was just picking on you. I didn't mean it like that. I just wondered how hard it must be for you to be a designer when you're... ", Kun said, not wanting to call her colour blind again. "It's not your fault my life is ruined", Skye said. "What do you mean your life is ruined?", Kun asked burning with curiosity. "Priveé terminated our contract when they found out that I was colour blind. You have no idea how much I envied you guys", Skye said, crying already. "You guys are perfect. You have each other's backs, you're all doing great. It's not the same for me. Siobhan died because of me. My parents cut ties with me. My life is literally in pieces", Skye said as she kept crying.

       "I understand how you feel", Kun said , "but our lives aren't as perfect as it seems. Do you know why we were always at your place?, Dad was abusive. Mom always forced us to go to your house , so we wouldn't see her get hit. It hurts really bad, Skye. Do you remember that time in middle school that I missed a whole year. I didn't get hit by a car. It was my dad. Dad couldn't hit mom whenever Kai was around so he shipped him off to china. I couldn't watch mom get hit. So he hit me instead." Kai said as he held back his tears. "I had to lie to Kai everytime. I always refused a video call so he wouldn't see me. Growing up was hell. Even now, our lives aren't perfect. Mei's ex husband was abusive", Kun added and Skye sniffled. "Life has always been hell, Skye", Kun said. "We're all just trying to live. My head still hurts, even though it's been seventeen years. My skull was crushed. ", Kun said as he laughed. "It's all just too much to think about. It's saddening, heartwrenching..." Kun said and his phone rang. He answered and it was his daughter. "I'm busy right now. Don't worry I'll be back soon. Make sure the popcorn's hot.", Kun said and smiled as he hung up. "Sorry, that was my daughter", Kun said. "You have a daughter?",Skye asked. "Yes", Kun replied. "You're married?", Skye asked. "No", Kun replied. "I woke up one sunny morning only to find her at my doorstep", Kun said. "It sounds like you have a date. I probably shouldn't tie you down", Skye said. "Thanks for listening to me", She added. "Well, if you're that delighted, I don't mind doing this again", Kun said and Skye smiled and they left the cafe together.

     Mei was on her way home when she got a call from Kai. "Hey bro", Mei said. "You called", Kai replied. "Yeah, it's about Jenna", Mei replied. "What about her?", Kai asked wondering if something happened to Jenna. "I don't really know. She refused to meet up with Skye and I think something's up", Mei said. "I understand", Kai said and hung up. He entered his car and sighed. "Home", he said and his assistant nodded.
