"What was it like working at the Alpha's house?" I asked without hesitation.

Alice sighed with something akin to nostalgia.

"Working there taught me to do many things; however, the distinction was always there, and when the Luna died, things got tense, but the Alpha ultimately let me stay, only if he didn't see me directly. The man had some trouble seeing me because he said I reminded him of his wife's kindness," she said, and I frowned. "I gradually earned a place in the kitchen, but there were days when the Omegas boss simply couldn't even smell me."

"Did she treat you badly?"

"Worse than that, I would remind her that the husband had messed around with a human, and that was something people not only despised but didn't forget. As time went on, I grew up with two types of people around me: those who didn't care enough to disregard me and those who hated me for being a half-breed and never failed to remind me of it. Those were hard times, but I stuck to my father's teachings."
