"Bakit naka-lock 'to?"
Have you seen me near your door and lock that? I can't even hold that doorknob."
I blinked twice.
"I wanna go out," she wailed.
Napailing ako. Sumasakit na ang ulo ko. Pinihit ko ulit ang doorknob. Hinampas ko ng palad ko ang pinto.
"Is there someone in there?!" I shouted at the door while banging it.
"Please, help us get out of here!"
I sighed in disbelief and worry. Paano na kami ngayon?
"What do you suggest we do?" I asked the guy.
He shrugged. He looked at my younger sister. I watched him knelt in front of Sofia.
"Hey, little girl. Do you want a lollipop?"
Hinila ko palapit sa akin si Sofia. Naguguluhan ang mata ng kapatid ko.
"Huwag kang maniniwala sa stranger, Sofia. We don't even know his name," I said in an irritated tone.
"I'm Writan. In Latin meaning to write."
I scoffed and shook my head.
"I can't believe my grandmother asked me to go here and do something with this book. I don't know what the hell I would do with this! I'm only contemplating that this is for my grandfather, Boston. Pagkatapos ay wala naman pala siya rito. And why did I think he'd be here, e...patay naman na si Grandpa!"
Napailing na lang ulit ako.
"What's your grandmother's name?"
"Penya?"
I don't know exactly what grandmother's name is. Narinig ko lang kay Jason and thought that's her name.
"Wala akong kilalang Penya," tipid niyang sagot. "But I know who could help us. If you want to find an answer, propably Bok could help you."
"Who's Bok? I don't want to come with you.
"If I wanted you to go somewhere I would have done that earlier."
Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay. "But it's not late for you to do that. You can't fool me. I know men."
"Do you want to find your grandfather or not?"
Tiningnan ko si Sofia. Tumigil na siya sa pag-iyak.
"We're going to explore this world. Don't cry anymore, Mommy's not here to comfort you."
She pouted but didn't disagree with me. But who cares, I just need to look out for her and never let her get harmed. 'Yon lang.
Sumunod ako kay Writan. Kaswal siyang naglalakad sa harap namin.
"Are you really this rude? Or you don't know the proper manners?" asik ko sa kanya.
Binalingan niya ako. His height towered us. Lumunok ako pero nagsalita pa rin.
"Men shouldn't walk in front of girls or else iisipin kong may gagawin ka talagang masama sa amin."
He snorted and faced me. He shoved his hands in his pockets. "Can you at least trust me, young lady?"
I felt cold with the nickname he called me. "Don't call me young lady. That's so fucking disgusting."
Nagdududa pa rin ako kay Writan but I guess I have to let him help kasi wala na akong ibang aasahan.
"That's why I don't talk to girls, they're all unpredictable."
"Wait."
Tumigil ako sa harap ng building.
"You said you can't open our door. It means that only the owner of that door can open it, right?"
Tumango siya. "Let's go."
"I can't. If that's the truth, then this is your house or building, not Bok's."
He smirked and shook his head. His hands were hugging the book kanina pa. His hair got messy with the breeze.
"You don't easily trust people, do you?"
"Mahirap na. You don't seem to be a trustworthy guy."
Mas lalong lumawak ang ngisi niya. Nanatiling seryoso ang mukha ko. His handsomeness will not affect me. Even his chocolate damn eyes na ang sarap titigan.
"Sige. Deal?"
Umiling ako. "Or maybe you're saying that kasi we're not really getting out of that place."
Humagalpak siya ng tawa. Tumigil din after a few seconds. Lumapit siya sa 'kin.
"I will not do anything to you. This is not the door I'm mentioning, it's that door." "I'm here to help you find that Boston.
"My gosh," I whispered.
"Ate...let's go."
Ako na ang nag-pout. I don't trust him. What if he does something bad to us? No one can help us here.
This looks like a hotel at hindi bahay.
"I'm here with Writan. Where is he?"
Itinuro ng babae ang hagdan. "Go upstairs. Enter the door you'll see in front."
If I didn't find my grandfather here, I'll try again opening the door that we came into. I can't stay here in this world with no assurance na walang mangyayaring masama sa amin.
Huminga ako nang malalim at kumatok sa pinto. Nagbukas agad 'yon. I saw Writan with a grin on his face. I gave him a sarcastic smile. He laughed at me.
Pumasok kami ng tuluyan sa kwarto. It was big with monitors on the left side. May malaking table ro'n at mga upuan. Sa harap namin ay desk with a guy sitting behind it. He has a serious face but looks gentle at the same time.
"I heard your story, young lady."
Nangasim ang pakiramdam ko. Is there a person here who could call me by my name instead of 'young lady'? Hindi na ako nagreklamo.
"You are looking for Boston? He's your grandfather?"
"Wow. Why aren't you like that with me? You haven't complained yet."
Inaruhan ko ng tingin si Writan. "If you say so, I'll complain then. Why did you leave us standing outside? What kind of hospitality do you have?"
"I'm Bok. I'm the publisher or leader of this place. Welcome to the world of writers, Claudia and Sofia."
I smiled sweetly at him.
"Thank you for welcoming us. I will be straight to the point. Yes, I'm looking for my grandfather, Boston. My grandmother, Penya got sick. She asked me to get this book and enter a door. I didn't know what the door will lead us but I guess here we are, in the world of writers. What a cliche name."
Bok smirked. "Tama nga ang sinabi mo, Writan. Kakaiba ang dalagang ito," he said to Writan. Bumaling siya sa akin at ngumiti. "Can I take a look at the book, Claudia?"
"Can I ask you something?"
Tumango siya sa akin. "Ikaw lang ang magbabasa nito. Don't let anyone peek or see words from this book. Even with your trusted fellow writers whatever. Especially Writan. I can't trust this guy, you know."
Parehas silang humalakhak.
"I will protect this book at all cost. I promise."
I agreed with him.
It was a dedicated message for Boston, my grandfather.
Without a second thought, I grabbed a pen on the table and threw it to Writan. He's getting into my nerve! This guy, argh!
"Don't freaking read the book! It's for Bok's only to read!
I should've explored alone than get help from this guy.
"Your grandmother's name is Penya. Are you sure it's Penya?"
We're supposed to be out there watching out for Grandma but instead, I'm here looking for my grandfather.
"Her name's Penya. Actually, I'm not one-hundred percent sure, I haven't asked her full name yet."
I gritted my teeth. I looked for a thing to throw at him but I don't want to grab the papers at the desk kasi baka importante pa 'yon.
"Napipikon na ako sa 'yo, ha. One more word from you and I will not hesitate to punch your disgusting face!" singhal ko ulit.
I want to go back to grandma.
"Matutulungan n'yo ba ako o hindi? Tell me if I'm wasting my time here. I don't have all the time in the world. I still have Grandma to worry about."
His hands were clasped. He gave me a stare.
"The time out there stops from the time you enter through the door," he chatted.
I stopped for my next words. "What?"
"Don't worry about the time. I'll help you with this."
Napatango na lang ako. Nabawasan ang pag-aalala ko.
"How can you help me?" I asked him.
He brushed his hair with his hands and licked his lip. I want to throw curses at him again.
"I will try to search for our records and find your grandfather's name. Your grandmother's name as well. Will you tell me her surname?"
Lumunok ako at nag-isip. "San Pedro, if I'm not mistaken. Thank you for your help."
Tumango siya at ngumiti. Hinawakan niya ulit ang libro. "Do you mind if you leave this book and I will try to find out more?"
I didn't hesitate to agree.
"For the meantime, Writan will assist you in a room for you and your sister. This house was built for guests. I hope you consider staying here until I find the records."
"Well, we have no choice. I guess we're staying here."
"The door will open once it feels you have to go home."
Hindi na ako sumagot sa sinabi niya. A door that can feel? Weird.
"Okay. And o, I don't need Writan's help. I do think he makes everything rather complicated."
"Salamat ulit, Bok."
He shook my hand and before Writan stepped outside with us, I went out and found ourselves at the desk on the first floor again. I hope I successfully find out about my grandfather's connection in this world. I have no idea why would Grandma asked me to go here. Is there something I need to know?
Sofia and I stayed in this big room for two days. We haven't gone outside kahit na nate-tempt ako. I don't want to take Sofia around. In the first place, why Mommy leaves her beloved daughter with me? There's no need to go outside. Everything from breakfast to dinner, even snacks is covered. I don't need to lay a finger because the maid would clean the room for us. I like it here. I don't need to face my mother every damn time. I can do everything I want here. I can eat everything I want and most especially, I don't need to take care of my sister because there's a maid who's doing that for me. I have a separate room with Sofia and I like this privacy. Napalingon ako nang may kumatok sa pinto. Binuksan ko 'yon, thinking it
Two days passed again. I haven't heard anything from Writan nor Bok. I'm comfortable that we're not wasting our time besides, our world's time is stopped on the other side.I tried writing on my own. Every room has a typewriter, paper, pencils, and pens. That's why this world is for writers. Totally. I don't know if it's my thing, but I don't mind. I don't have anything to do, anyway. What intrigues me is that I'm not bored here unlike on the other side. Maybe because I don't have to think about Mom, nagging about everything. They were exchanging books every three minutes, I've counted it. I'm curious about them and so, I feed my curiosity. I'm thankful for the maid 'cause she's making my job easier. I don't have to take care of my sister; I have the time on my own."Lala
"You want to find that out now?" I implored. The elevator door opened. I want to go with him but how about Sofia? "I want to walk with you in the middle of the road." In that simple remark, I felt my heartbeats. It was banging my chest and I never felt nervous, I came up with a realization. I'm liking Writan. I looked at him and saw him looking at me since we got out of the elevator. I licked my lips and stared at his chocolate eyes. "I would love to go with you." I spent my time asking the maid to take care of Sofia for two days. Writan said that it would take a day or so. He prepared the foods we will eat on the journey. I'v
I woke up feeling refreshed and rested. The more I look at the scenery, the more I'm falling in love with it. After a few minutes, I wake Writan. I slowly tapped his face. I want to know if he had girlfriends in the past. Imposibleng walang nagkakagusto sa kanya. Sayang ang guwapo niya. Tumayo ako nang kumislot siya. He opened his eyes and I quickly took my eyes off of him. "Good morning," Writan greeted with his low tone voice. I grinned.
"Sinabi ni Bok sa 'kin ang tungkol sa first love niya raw no'ng bago pa lang ako rito. Na minahal niya raw ang nakababata niya. It's kinda disgusting. He's talking about his first love like it was his anecdote." Napailing ako sa pagkukuwento ni Writan. We were both resting again over the tree of cherry blossoms look-alike. "Hey, what's this tree called? It looks like cherry blossoms. But is it?" "This is a cherry blossom." I was in awe. "Wow. It's so pretty." "You're prettier." I grinned at his compliment. "Do
"Explain," I demanded to Bok. I looked at him. He's sitting on his chair when we barged into his office. Writan silently walked past me and sat on the chair. He ushered me to sit as well but I decline. We never talk again after our last. I refused to. I want to get this over with, come home to Grandma, and live a happy ending with someone else. That hit me hard. "Anong ipaliliwanag ko, Claudia?" I gritted my teeth. "That you're my grandfather and Penna, your first love who left you is my grandmother." I watched his jaw opened. He glanced at Writan. So, he knew too?I smiled bitterly. These two demons just played me. "Explain! Bakit hindi mo agad sinabi sa akin
"Claudia? Why are you here and where's my daughter?"I rolled my eyes when I first saw my mother sitting beside Grandma's bed. I watched her walk nearer to me. I glanced at Grandma and didn't answer her."Grandma, can we talk?"Nagulat ako nang hawakan ni Mommy ang kamay ko. Nakalimutan ko na agad ang itsura niya. Pathetic how worthless people could do to you."Mommy, can I talk to Grandma first?"Umiling siya. Why are you in that dress? Nag-club ka ba?"What? I gritted my teeth when her nails hurt my arm."Wala ka na bang iban
I parked the car in front of Grandpa and Grandma's house. I went inside and upstairs to enter the world of writers again.I took a deep breath and turned the doorknob. I was greeted by the wind that's different from the wind outside. I gasped in excitement.I'm thrilled to be back!I was about to walk towards the house where Sofia was when a guy interrupted me to do so."Name po muna," he said.I looked at the guy. "Hindi ako writer. Can you call Writan for me?"Nangunot ang noo ng lalaki.

Writan's POV"Are you ready? You have to come back after a day, Writan," Bok declared before I went outside my past world.I agreed with him and departed the world of writers. I wasn't expecting that I would uncover an answer and get motivation outside to write again. I've been writing for five years but I don't feel satisfied with it. I wanted something or someone that would light up my passion again.I found one. A girl who looked broken and lost in the sea of people."Hey," I cheered her up.However, her words threw me off that I found myself getting interested in her."I like your eyes."She threw compliments like it was nothing for her."What's its color?" I asked of her.Her eyes twinkled. She looked bored and she's just doing this for fun. I wanted to talk to her a lot however she said she wasn't flirting."Claudia. I'm not here to flirt, actually."I memorized her name. If I will see her again,
I stayed quiet as we waited for the elevator. I heard Writan's shoes rocking up and down. He's nervous like me. I'm not into confrontation, in fact, I hate it. If this doesn't end well, I don't know anymore. I'm tired of being unhappy. I'm tired of waiting for him. I'm tired of hoping and crying every time I finish my book and there's no Writan who would be happy for my success. He's the only one who I needed between those accomplishments. His words that he's proud of me. I licked my lips and went outside of the elevator once it landed on the right floor. The look on his face was unpredictable and mixed. I scanned the room and stopped by the doorway. "Now, let's talk." He hesitated. He rubbed his face and took a sharp breath. He looked miserable right now. I am too.
"Sikat na sikat ka na, ate! Sobrang dami ng fans mo, omfg! I have a famous ate!" Sofia clapped when the event ended. We're still in the room. Guards are taking care of the fans outside so we could peacefully go home without a struggle later. I smiled at Sofia as she hugged my books and dream things. "Nakakakilig kayo ni Kuya Writan, ate! You said you're in a relationship? Who is that?" she urged. "Him." I never thought that I would say that in public. Possibly because Writan was brave telling my fans that he likes me. I got the strength from him. But it doesn't mean we're okay now. We won't be until I hear his answers. He smiled at me but I didn't smile back. He got the
The event started. All of the people in line asked for my signature on their books as well as selfies. I'm so happy to see them smiling as they meet me personally."Thank you for writing, Claudia! This means a lot to me!" one of my fans exclaimed."Oh, my gosh! Grabe, ang ganda-ganda mo po!""Thank you for writing Henry and Mira's story, Claudia! They are the bestest couple!""Thank you, Claudia! We love you!"My heart melted every time they said their thanks to me. There's no kind of happiness in this world that would level this happiness I'm feeling right now. I'm just so so thankful. My smile didn't leave in the whole signing event. After that, there was a ten-minute break for me. Inabutan ako ni Ms. Lili ng isang bottled water."Thank you."She smiled at me and proceeded to give Writan his wat
I remembered the nights that I drunk myself to sleep for me to get over at writing. Writing was my only escape from reality. Although, it makes me remember about me and Writan. Writing is my companion for ten years. I've written personal experiences on one of my stories and as much as I hate doing that, it makes my stories a bit sentimental for me.I love writing. It makes me feel alive. I didn't know why I started late in writing when I could've started younger than that. Writing a story is something to be proud of. I know a lot of writers know that. Even no one is acknowledging their works, it's
I hugged her for the last time and waved at her. "I'll come back! See you soon!" I shouted at her as I walked with Jason. Nagyakap kaming dalawa. "You too, Jason." I waved at him too as he drove his vehicle down the road. I let out a sigh and sat at the bench over the shade. I have nothing with me except a thousand for my fare to get me to Manila. From there, I'll go back home, explained everything to my Mom that happened for like fifteen minutes because I have to go to an event for me after that. If I calculated it right, Sofia is almost a teenager. I should talk to her about things that I experienced in high school. Or maybe she won't talk to me. By the looks of it, it's Wryan again. When
I don't think lying is a good idea so I answered the truth. The truth is that I love his brother. Hanggang ngayon. My feelings for him can't be crushed for all of those reasons.I watched Wryan stood up and smiled at me but it didn't reach his eyes."I'm serious when I told you that I'd snatch you from him if he doesn't take you back, Claudia."Lumunok ako at tumango na lamang. He looked scary when his eyebrows were almost touching and his jaw clenching. He licked his lips and nodded at me before strolling outside the cafe. He caught me off guard. I thought he was joking back in the car. A smile was plastered on my face
Bok and I hugged each other as we said our goodbyes. I will miss him. He was the only person who was by my side for years."Ibigay mo ang sulat na ito kay Penna." "I hope we could meet again.""We will."Tumalikod ako sa kanya. Hinawakan ko ang doorknob at huminga nang malalim.I thought about my family.Kumusta na kaya si Sofia at si Mommy?I have so much to explain to them."Claudia!"Napalingon ako sa tumawag. Lumayo ako sa pinto at lumapit kay Yaya Esther."Naku, buti na lamang at nakaabot ako sa 'yo. Heto, ibigay mo kay Sofia." Tinanggap ko rin ang papel galing sa kanya."Thank you for everything, Yaya Esther."She wiped her tears. "Mag-iingat ka. Sana makita mo na si Writan at maging masaya kayong dalawa."I smiled bitterly at her. Destiny is our great contender. I thought we'd last for a long tim
