94. A fair game

“He’s not lifting.” The maid said with a sorrowful face.

It had perhaps been the third time today that Emma asked her to ring Jamie, only to hear the same response again and again. The message he was sending her by not taking her calls was clear: He was not interested in speaking to her anytime soon. More than that, he was conveying that he was still angry with her.

Perhaps things were better when he remained unaware of the truth. Right now, despite knowing that she was manipulated by her aunt, Jamie still held it against her. She wasn’t expecting him to forgive her immediately, but the least he could do was answer her calls and be willing to sort things out? If he did not wish to see her anymore, he should at least make that clear. He is just ignoring her while she remains locked up in this house, which was more cruel than him lashing out on her.

“It’s okay.” She said, “I’m sorry for troubling you. I won’t ask for this again.”
