Chapter 4

Finn felt the air get fresher after he left the Somner residence.

He had suffered a lot during his time with the Somners in the last three years. However, he did manage to keep his promise.

"Please get in the car, Mr. Chapman."

Thomas was standing behind Finn when a Rolls-Royce Phantom stopped in front of Finn. Finn said nothing and got straight into the car. Thomas closed the car door after Finn got in and climbed into the passenger seat. The rest of their men traveled in their own cars.

"What's the status of the two investigations I asked you to conduct? Are there any updates?" Finn looked out the window and asked.

Finn was not concerned with the Somners at all. It would only take one word from him to destroy the Somner family. However, he did not want to destroy the Somners. All he wanted was payback for the last three years.

His benefactor was the one who built up the Somner family name, after all. However, he knew what would happen to them after one month. Things were already predestined. The Somners would refuse to give in while he would show no mercy.

Thomas replied respectfully to Finn's question.

"We've tried our best to investigate the annihilation of the Chapmans, but it has been 15 years, and many clues are lost. But we managed to trace someone we suspect was involved in it, but that person is in Northern Europe right now. I've already informed Wolf Greene to capture that person."

Years ago, the Chapmans were among the top five influential families in Creek Valley. They were even more powerful than the Mallards back then.

When Finn was 13, his family was destroyed overnight. That was the greatest turning point in Finn's life.

Finn had always wanted to look deeper into this. He had to get revenge no matter how powerful the people who destroyed the Chapmans were.

Finn nodded. It was good enough that they managed to get a clue.

Even though he had been living with the Somners for the past three years, he still managed to get results in the end by investigating this with the help of Beyond Heaven's power and influence.

"What about the other investigation?" Finn asked immediately. This was as important as his investigation of his family's annihilation.

Thomas immediately passed a document he prepared to Finn.

"We finally have results. I used every connection I had for the past three years to investigate every corner of Creek Valley and other cities nearby, but we found nothing.

"It turns out, Miss Lang had gone South. She's working in a small town there. It's no wonder that we weren't able to find her before," Thomas explained.

Finn looked at the document in his hand. There were many photos inside. The photos were of a beautiful woman who looked about 25. She looked a little tired in them.

There was an adorable little girl in her arms who looked pitiful.

"This girl…" Finn was taken aback to see the girl. He noticed that the girl looked a little like him.

"If I'm right about this, she's the daughter you had with Miss Lang!

"That unforeseen circumstance ended with Miss Lang getting pregnant, but the Langs wouldn't allow a premarital pregnancy in the family, so they forced Miss Lang to get an abortion. Miss Lang refused and secretly gave birth to a daughter. That was when the Langs cut off all financial support for her.

"After that, Miss Lang left for the South with her daughter to find work in order to survive. It's only recently that she returned to Creek Valley. She must have found life there to be really hard…"

Thomas shared his assumption with Finn.

Finn's eyes focused on the little girl, and he could not look away.

'That's my daughter! I'm a father now!' Finn was roaring about this in his heart.

This moment excited him more than his appointment as Beyond Heaven's supreme leader.

That girl was his flesh and blood. She was his heritage.

"Where is she? Where are they?"

Finn tried to control his emotions despite not being able to wait to reunite with Selena and their daughter.

Thomas hesitated before saying, "Miss Lang and your little princess should be at the Lang residence right now, but—"

"But what?" Finn noticed the uncomfortable look on Thomas' face and asked with a frown.

Thomas continued, "From the intel I gathered, Miss Lang has agreed to the Langs' request to marry the son of the Kauffmans, an old family in Creek Valley. If Miss Lang goes through with it, they'll accept Miss Lang's daughter and provide her with generous resources."

"What?!" Finn was furious to hear that.

His woman was about to marry someone else. That would not do!

When Finn was on a mission overseas five years ago, he led a team of soldiers from Beyond Heaven in a fight against the most powerful underworld organization in the West called Heaven's Wrath.

It was an intense fight that deployed more than 20 God of War-level powerhouses. That fight was dubbed “Ragnarok” in the underworld of the West. Finn's side achieved victory in the end.

However, it came at a heavy price because many either died or were seriously wounded. Finn had also been seriously injured as he was infected with a horrible poison. He disappeared for half a year.

During that time, he returned to Creek Valley.

Every time Finn was at a point of life and death, he would return to his hometown as it felt like that was where he belonged.

While he was recuperating, he met Selena. She was a kind and beautiful woman. Selena was 20 at the time.

Finn had been wandering the streets when she took him in. However, Finn had been under the influence of the poison and would sometimes go into a trance that even he was unable to control.

He woke up one day to see Selena looking deathly pale and tear-streaked. He tried to ask her what happened, but she refused to say anything. Finn guessed that he might have hurt her.

Since that day, they never saw each other again.

When Finn was finally cured of the poison, he returned to Beyond Heaven.

Two years later, he came back to Creek Valley to pay his debt to Byron while searching for Selena at the same time. Unfortunately, Selena had not been found until today.

He finally had news about her.

However, that was also when Finn found out that she would be marrying someone else. He could not allow that to happen.

"The Kauffmans? Which Kauffman are you talking about?" Finn asked in a deep voice.

Thomas quickly said, "It's the Kauffmans who own Vibrancy Group. They're mainly in the hotel and jewelry business."

There was a glint in Finn's eyes as he sneered.

What a coincidence.

He remembered Yvonne's lover was Micheal Kauffman, and he was from Vibrancy Group.

That would mean Michael's brother would be the one getting into an arranged marriage with the Langs.

Thomas' communication equipment buzzed a few times.

He quickly said, "Mr. Chapman, our men just got the latest news that the young heir of the Kauffmans, Chet, will be meeting the Langs tonight. They could be finalizing wedding details with Miss Lang."

"Where are they meeting?" A cold look flashed in Chase's eyes.

"At the Rigart Hotel."
