The doorbell rang, Maya could hear the voice of Sicilia, her new boss, asking the maids to take suitcases to a room. Maya rushed to the front door to welcome the old lady and her grandson.

“Oh! Maya dear, there you are,” Sicilia mentioned for Maya to get closer to her. “Maya had been helping me so much, and I don’t know what to do without her,” Sicilia spoke, looking at her grandson.

Maya, for the first time, looked at Alexander Knight. All her assumptions and imaginations flew from the door.  He was not some disabled guy or a gay chubby man with a golden pocket watch.

He was the most handsome man she ever saw in her life, a Greek god, maybe an angel.

‘Shoot. I am getting affected. This man is dangerous,’ Maya immediately thought to herself as she tried to force a welcoming smile.

He was the type of man who was made by God with extra care. A man like him was the dream of every living girl. Now, she wondered why he was still single.

Based on her research, he should already be the age to get married or someone who already had children running around the house.

Maya could not help but stare at Alexander longer. It isn’t nice. But who cares. She could always tell that it was part of her job.

Then she realized what was wrong with him. Though he was a walking male front page model from a famous magazine, the dude was so... scary? That was the best word she could come up with.

Alexander seems to be the type that always frowns or scowls like he was still unhappy or something.

‘Jeez, so unlovable fellow.’ She thought to herself. Well, for her standard, at least? It was like Alexander was someone who would never laugh during sex, and that was Maya’s definition of a good relationship.

Maya continued to observe him. His expression looked intense, but nothing can make him look less appealing. Sadly.

In fact, Maya started to feel annoyed because despite Alexander’s aura, that was not so welcoming, and she still could not help but have a crush on him.

‘Just slightly, okay? So look forward to the fat cheque, you greedy bitchy self, instead of the man who looks has a charming prince appearance but a villain attitude. A villain prince,’ Maya ranted to herself.

“Alexander, this is Maya, and Maya, this is my grandson Alexander. Just look at him! Isn’t he cute?” Mrs. Knight asked a question that Maya couldn’t dare to answer.

Maya awkwardly smiled.

Yes, he was handsome, even handsome even, but Maya wasn’t going to say that. He had silky black hair that was slightly out of place, possibly because of the flight, blue piercing eyes that can penetrate your soul. A body that, although covered by his expensive business suit, Maya knew it’s the kind of body you can worship all day long. But there was something else. Maya kept studying his face. He looked angry and annoyed at the same time.

Aside from that, he was so tall. Well, compared to Maya’s not so blessed height. But the point was, any woman would want to be with someone who seemed so strong and able to carry them when needed.

Probably realizing her stare, Alexander finally looked at Maya. She immediately tried to say hi, but he frowned before he averted his gaze away from her.

“Don’t bother me,” Alexander said as he looked at the stairs and stormed upstairs.

He might be sinfully handsome, but this man was as rude as hell.

Maya hated rude people, among other things, and Alexander didn’t make it in her ‘friendly-people-I-can-talk-to‘ list.

“Excuse him dearly. He had a long exhausting flight,” Mrs. Knight laughed awkwardly. It was a blatant lie, but Maya pretended to buy it.

Maya nodded, “Of course, it must have been the flight. No big deal, Sicilia.” She replied assuring.

During lunchtime, Alexander didn’t join them at the table. Maya was told he was exhausted. She continued her day naturally until dinnertime, where it was only her and Sicilia.

“Go one dear, start eating. Alexander won’t be joining us, and he said he had work to do.” Sicilia said.

“Alright,” Maya smiled and started eating her food. She preferred to eat in peace, and thankfully Alexander was so anti-social.

“My poor Alexander, he is always working hard. He never got to enjoy his life like the rest of the men his age.” Sicilia said before releasing a deep breath.

Maya didn’t say anything else, and she finished her meal in silence. She also felt pity towards Sicilia. Since the woman was already old, she should be enjoying the remaining days of her life. Aside from that, by the looks of it, Alexander was close to Sicilia but seldom visits.

But that was their family problem, and Maya has no right to meddle in their business. She just needs to do what she was supposed to.

In the meantime, Sicilia started telling Maya a little bit about her grandson to get to know him better and find a suitable girl for him.

Sicilia insisted that he was actually nice, just not the talkative type. His grandma described him as saying he was strict and firm from the outside, but he is soft and warm when you crack the shell.

He has a tough character from the looks of it, he needs a girl that can pierce through his hard shell, and what might be even more challenging is finding this girl. Maya was trying so hard to crack him up. Doing her job right depends on it. But he seems problematic. As for his kind, good heart, Maya had yet to check for its existence.

Well, speaking of the kind, good heart, Maya could not help but remember the first time she met the kind-hearted Sicilia, her new boss...

When she got out of the car, she immediately went to Sicilia, who embraced her in a long hug.“God, I thought I would never see you again. I was so devastated.”“I thought I would never see you either,” Maya responded after breaking the hug.“So he managed to convince you ?” Sicilia looked back at Alexander.“No, it wasn’t him, it was someone else,” if Pete didn’t come and say those words to Maya, she would still be determined to turn down Alexander, or she would’ve left already. It was all because of Pete, who reminded her to look for her happiness. She thought if she ever forgives Alexander, she would be less of a woman, but that wasn’t the case. She felt even stronger, having the power to reunite them or never be with him a

“I uh…” Thomas could not help but feel emotional, but then he snapped. He realized that Mrs. Simons intended to do this! Thomas, enraged, shouted as he threatened Mrs. Simons, “How dare you bring someone like her? She’s my daughter, and she died; you brought that girl here to rub it in my face? Is that it? Huh! You wench!”Mrs. Simons smirked, and just then, Maya stopped the old Duke’s hand mid-air and said, “Please, don’t hurt Mrs. Simons. She was just trying to help me.”Thomas found it odd. Everything about Maya reminded him of his dead daughter- from her eyes, smile, and her kindness. It was too much for the old Duke. Kate passed away young but had she grown up to reach that certain age, Thomas was sure she’d look like Maya. The old Duke left after seeing such resemblance, and that left Mrs. Simons, who was devilishly grinning as everything was going according to plan.Meanwhi

Upon arriving at France, Maya sighed heavily. She felt bad not having to say goodbye at everyone, but then again, she didn’t really think she could face any of them at the moment. The people Maya trusted the most ended up lying to her and manipulating her.But Maya was really bothered about what Alexander said about Mrs. Simons being her aunt. It was impossible, right? Maya knew almost for sure that it was impossible. Perhaps because of Mrs. Simons’s wealth and status, Maya never imagined herself to be anything related to her.Maya shook her head.“Are you okay?” Mrs. Simons asked, “How was the flight?”“Everything was super okay. I didn’t know airlines could fly at any time preferred without any prior notice on the schedule.”Mrs. Simons chuckled, “They didn’t. The plane we rode here is our family’s personal plane since the old Duke, and I love traveling.”“

She did not know what to say because the truth was it was her and Mrs. Simons who was manipulating Maya right now. Mrs. Simons’ plan was to break off the connections holding Maya back from leaving for France- and those were her friends and Alexander.Stephanie gulped hard, kept her composure, and said, “Just remember our agreement. You’ll cut off connections with Alexander. I’ll let what happened last night when you dance with him go and everything else if you just stay away from him as soon as you leave for France.”Maya scoffed, &ld

What are you planning?”“Since Pedro gathered them all up to delay Maya leaving for France, I’m just going to ‘undo’ what he did,” Mrs. Simon reasoned, “Once Maya knows about how Alexander, Oli, Sally- the people she trusted the most, are all trying to delay her form-finding her family, she would be so devastated a

So, Maya walked her way towards Alexander. Her steps were light as to not distract Alexander, who was casually sitting, book in his hand, and the light was naturally hitting his black hair. Alexander looked like a scene from a movie.Whereas Maya was a mess, she barely brushed her hair, and her clothes were a mess because Oli chose the first set of clothes that would fit her for the night, and her face was not yet completely clean from all the make-up last night.Ugh, this sucks. Maya groaned as she thought to herself, this is not how I planned our meeting to happen. In fact, Maya never planned to cross paths with Alexander ever again. Maya awkwardly greeted, “Hello.
