Chapter 2 : Introduction

last update Last Updated: 2024-02-09 17:55:18

Suzzane looked around with her mind wandering around the questions in her head. She delved into the powers of her mind to know how to roll on as the new personality.

First, knew that she needed a mirror, to know what she looked like but there was none.

"Are you okay now?" Mia asked and Suzanne nodded.

She needed to be Nalita Rossi, but she knew nothing about her. All that she knew was the new name, but nothing of her position or persona.

Confused, she closed her eyes and immediately, she felt a strange sensation within her. A mechanical voice emerged, devoid of any emotion, speaking directly into her mind.

SYSTEM: Hello, Subject XX 014.

Suzanne's curiosity was piqued as she listened intently to the voice. She cautiously opened her eyes, scanning the room to ensure no one else was speaking. The nurse continued with her duties, seemingly unaware of the voice that resonated within Suzzane.

The voice was akin to the same voice that introduced her to the system and Suzanne kept her mind lulled, trying to listen with all that she had.

Again, she closed her eyes, allowing herself to fully immerse in the experience.

SYSTEM: Welcome to the ThreeBirth System. You are in the first tier of the three rebirth and you have been reborn as a mafia's wife.

Suzanne's heart skipped a beat, a mixture of confusion and disbelief flooding her mind. She couldn't comprehend the words she was hearing. How could she be reborn as someone else entirely? What she had thought the second shot at life would be was to be back as Suzanne Bevan, with supernatural power or some might to take on her enemies, but it was something else.

She opened her eyes once more, stealing glances at the nurse to ensure her secret conversation remained hidden. The nurse focused on attending to Suzanne's wounds, seemed oblivious to the voice echoing in her patient's mind.

A sharp sting disrupted Suzanne's thoughts as the nurse injected her with something, confirming her physical existence and dispelling any notion of being a machine.

SYSTEM: You died as Suzanne Bevan, a pitiful maid, used and bartered. Now, you are recruited into the ThreeBirth System and reborn as Nalita Rossi, a wife and an accomplice to Vincenzo Rozzi who is a mafia rival to Vito DiMarco, the man whose sons killed you.

Suzanne understood the tangled piece. Vito DiMarco played a part in her death and now, Vito DiMarco was a rival to Vincenzo Rozzi, Nalita's husband. She processed the words.

SYSTEM: Suzanne Bevan is shot in the heart and is dead, and so is Nalita Rossi, gashed in the head with a bat by one of Vito's men. Thus, you are a mix of Suzanne’s soul in Nalita’s body, but a mind of both. A copy of all the memories of the dead Nalita Rossi would be installed in seconds. This is all you need to act under the cover. Understand that this is your second shot at life. Do not die, this is the only way to keep on in the ThreeBirth System. More information will be given soon.

Suzanne's mind spun with the weight of the information she received. Memories of Suzanne Bevan, a maid, mixed with the newfound knowledge of Nalita Rossi's life as a mafia wife sounded like an impossible feat but she looked forward to it. It was as if two souls would be intertwined within her.

The voice faded, replaced by a rhythmic beep echoing inside Suzanna's mind. Ten seconds passed in suspenseful silence, and she cautiously opened her eyes once again, observing the nurse's presence.

As her gaze focused, an ethereal image materialized before her, depicting that Mia was a woman she knew. The image lingered, suspended in her mind, leaving Suzzane eager to uncover the secrets and challenges that awaited her.

Name - Mia Thompson.

Skill - Medic

Info - You never trusted her instincts. But Vince does.

Danger - She is carrying a mechanical device in her hair. One that gave out your location to Vito DiMarco. If you refuse to act now, she will plan another attack on you.

Suzanne glanced at the nurse, ensuring no external signs revealed her inner turmoil. She knew she had to tread carefully, understanding that her very existence had become a delicate dance between the past and the present.

"I want to step out," Suzanne said and Mia who had been tending to her wound was taken aback.

"Are you okay now?" Mia asked, her voice filled with concern.

Suzanne sighed and let out a smirk. "I am fine," she said softly. Suzanne nodded slowly and finally walked out of the van.

As she stepped outside, a scene of utter chaos greeted her. The air was thick with smoke, flames dancing in the distance. Cars were on fire, guns were on the floor, and dead bodies littered the ground, a grim testament to the violence that had unfolded.

It all came rushing back to her now. The ambush, the desperate struggle for survival. She remembered running out of bullets, engaging in fierce hand-to-hand combat with one of the assailants, and then the blow to her head that had abruptly ended it all.

Amid the turmoil, Nalita's husband, Vincenzo, the leader of the Yaaz Tiger group, spotted her and rushed towards her. His face was a mix of relief and concern. "Nalita? Are you okay?" he called out, his voice filled with worry.

Name - Vincenzo Rozzi.

Skill - Hostile mafia boss.

Info - Husband.

After the stats, Suzanne felt more of their histories seeping into her head. They included public and private entanglements, including fighting side by side.

A small smile tugged at the corners of Suzanne's lips. She didn't know what to say or do, but Vincenzo embraced her. "Baby, I knew it. You won't leave easy."

Suzanne considered the words. She wondered how crazy it would be to inform Vince that Nalita had left easy and that she was Suzanne Bevan, Nalita's incarnate. "I am fine, Vince," she reassured him, her voice steady despite the chaos surrounding them.

He held her tightly and she gritted the embrace too.

Suzanne pulled back slightly, meeting his gaze with determination. "You won't lose me that easily," she said, her eyes flashing with resolve. "We'll get through this. Together."

Vincenzo nodded, a flicker of pride shining in his eyes. "Together, baby," he echoed, reaffirming their unwavering unity in the face of adversity.

Again, Suzanne initiated another hug and she placed her mouth beside Vince's ear and whispered. "Mia has a device in her bulky hair. She is the mole.".

Vince slowly disengaged from the embrace and walked back to the van. Suzanne turned to see what would become of Mia.

Vince called on Arturo and together, they approached Mia who stood riveted on the spot. "Rummage through her hair," Vince ordered Arturo. "She is the mole. A device is in her hair."

Name - Arturo McLean.

Skill - Hostile. Henchman to Vince.

Info - Trusted second in command to Vince. Your childhood friend.

Just like it was, she felt her past with Arturo. They had grown in the street together and had joined Arturo when he became recruited into Vince's enterprise. They both rose to the top of the chart, with Arturo becoming the second in command and her becoming Vince's wife.

Mia wanted to run but Arturo caught up with her. He dragged her hair and brought her back to Vince. He delved into her hair, bringing out a device with wires snaking out.

"Have mercy…"

Vince drew out his gun and fired a shot into Mia's head. Her body fell with a thud on the floor.

Suzanne winced, but somewhere in her head, she knew that as Nalita Rossi, she had killed 137 known hostiles and had seen countless explosions.

"Boss, how do you know?" Arturo asked, turning to face Vince.

Vince walked some yards close to Suzanne and asked. "How do you know?"

Suzanne knew it would make no sense to reveal that she was told by a system. She cleared her throat. "When I was in there, I noticed the beep," Suzanne lied.

"I should have trusted your instincts," Vince said and nodded. "You were right all along."

"We should move, boss," Arturo advised and Vince called for the move.

While they drove away, leaving the chaos behind, Suzanne felt a mix of emotions when Vince pulled her head close and made her lay her head on his lap.

Suzzane had thought that death would offer her relief, a solace, but to be reborn as a mafia boss’s wife, she knew that there would be tensions in the future. She looked forward to the life before her.
