Emily's POV

That evening, I realized where we were heading and it made goosebumps travel down my spine. We were right back where I started, Donovan pack.

One of Jones' men walked up to him.

“Leader, we're about to reach Donovan pack. Do we take a rest here or go to Donovan pack?”

“We should go there right now. By nightfall we should arrive there.” Jones said and he nodded.

“Yes sir!”

We continued walking and we were nearly there when Fayne suddenly collapsed.

“Oh no,” I gasped.

Jones halted his horse and one of his men went to check on Fayne.

“He's alive but he seems too weak to continue,”

“Leave him there then. I don't want a useless human for a slave.”

They were about to keep going but I raised my hand up for the first time.

Jones' gaze traveled to me and he gave me a disgusted look.

“Who are you?”

“My name is Emily,” I said. “This man… I'll help him continue the journey until we arrive at your destination.”

Jones scoffed.

“Do whatever you want.” Jones glared at one of his men

Emily's POV “Let go of her!” Fayne yelled as he made to release me from the grip of my father but my father pushed him back with one hand and Fayne slammed his head against the wall, blood instantly gushing out from the back of his head.“Fayne!” I yelled.Fayne hurriedly got back up to his feet but I shook my head at him, urging him to not go any further.I turned back to my father. “Dad, what are you doing here?”He scoffed. “What else do you think I'm going to do? Of course it's to bring you back home. After so many years, it's about time you understood your roots.”Tears rolled down my cheeks which I quickly wiped away.“Have you finally learnt your lesson?” Father asked me and I bowed my head in shame.“Father, I have no idea what to tell you.”“You don't have to say anything, just follow my lead and come with me.”I turned back to Fayne and he looked at me without saying a word. I guessed he understood the message that he was weak compared to my father. Also, it probably dawned

Emily's POV “Emily,” he said as he settled down on the chair.“Father,” I said, my voice soft. “Are you doing well?”“Yes um—”“—Where did you go?” I cut him short and he cleared his throat.“It's no big deal, eat up. You'll need the energy.”I cleared my throat.“Well If you don't want to say something, that's also okay.” My father gave me a nod and I proceeded to eat with my father in silence. However, it became real uncomfortable for me.“Father,” I said softly. “Emily, how was your life as a slave?” He asked me out of blue which made me look up at him confusedly.“Father, what do you mean?”“Did you not learn a thing about how to speak and when to not speak?”My father's words felt degrading and it made me lose my appetite. I placed down the fork I was using to eat and ran my fingers through my hair.“I'm retiring to my room dad, if you don't want to talk to me concerning something, then don't.” I stood to my feet and walked to my room. My father didn't even call for me and tha

Emily's POV “Oh my, Emily. Just because I brought you back doesn't mean I truly care for you as a daughter.”My father's words hit me hard in the chest but I pretended it didn't.“Father, when I was missing, didn't you miss me a little bit?”“I only had one regret. Not marrying you off sooner.”I clenched my fists tightly. My own father didn't really care about me.I smiled painfully. I should've known that long ago. What was I expecting?“Thank you father,” I said, and my father's eyes widened in confusion. He probably didn't expect what I said to him.“For what?” He asked.“For freeing me as a slave and Fayne too…”My father closed the distance between us. “This Fayne guy… You know better than to cross the line with him, right, Emily?”I nodded. “I see Fayne as nothing but a slave I can use to pass time when I'm bored at my soon-to-be husband's house.”“I truly hope it's nothing more than that.” My father said. After a few minutes of him staring at me, he sighed. “Go now, Emily. If he has the desire to kill you, what more would he do to you when you're under his thumb?” Matteo asked me.“You never really cared for me, Matteo, stop pretending like you do. I'm going to the Galahad clan and I'm going to make a difference.” I said which made Matteo frown.“Well, it's your decision. Don't come crying to me when your plans don't work out. Don't forget, Jacob Galahad intended to kill you and he'll do worse when you're in his clan.”I looked at my rider who was dead on the ground. He had tried to protect me and that didn't work out well for him. It made my heart ache a little.Matteo looked at Fayne and then turned to me.“Who is he?”“My slave.” I said.Ma

Emily's POV I saw a group of security men. They were hefty and looked strong.“Ms. Emily Silver?” The tall one with short black hair asked. He was wearing nice clothes and boots. He was probably high up in the hierarchy.“Yes, that's me.” I responded. “My master asked me to take you inside as soon as possible.”“Who is your master?” I asked.“Jacob Galahad,” he responded.“I see.”“Who's… this?” He asked me, pointing to Fayne who stood solidly beside me.I took a step forward. “He's my slave. He goes with me wherever I go.”The security man cleared his throat.“My name is Simon, I work for Jacob Galahad.”“I see.” I said with a smirk.Simon gestured me into the gate. “Please come with me.”“I would go in with you but first, wouldn't you like to apologize for leaving me outside for so long?”Simon cleared his throat. “Well… I didn't expect that you would arrive so late. Emily's POV I didn't know how long I stayed in the room, all I knew was that throughout the night, my tears poured down. It wasn't untill the morning that I heard a knock on the door.I wiped my face and went to open the door. Behold, it was Fayne. And he was holding a tray containing food.“W-what are you doing here?” I asked, feeling a bit embarrassed that I could be seen like this by him.“I asked the maids if you've eaten but none seemed to care. I guess since you're here, I'll have to be the one to tend to you.”I frowned. “So my husband doesn't really care about me,” I said.“Shh,” Fayne placed a finger on my lips, silencing me. “They'll hear,” he whispered.I let out a silent sigh. So he knew that the werewolves had super hearing. I wondered how he was getting a hand of this when clearly a lot was going on. And he was human, shouldn't he be more fearful and mad at me that I didn't tell him who I really was… or what I really was.“Come in,” I gestured him to come in.Then I re

Emily's POV “You're wrong. Jacob Galahad is an Alpha and all Alphas have one thing in common. Prestige. In order to get to him, you need to have that as well. There's no way I can build an image here I…” I trailed off, realizing that Fayne had a point.“Ultimately, you are Jacob's Luna whether he wants to admit it or not. You just have to build yourself untill it's extremely hard for you to be ignored.”“I see.” I said.“And how do you think is the best way for me to do that?” I asked.“Build some rapport with the people here. That way it won't be hard for you to get information.”“All these things you're saying sound easy to the ears but ultimately, they're easier said than done.” I said.“I was the advisor to the queen, believe me I know how things work in hierarchies.” Fayne said.“It's not that I don't trust your words, it's just that things are harder now that we're in a pack of werewolves. Have you eaten?”“Fayne gave me something to eat.” I replied.“From now, I'll send you a maid to take care of you.”“Okay,” I replied, pretending to not think of it even though I knew that that was Jacob's way of putting an eye on me.“By the way, do you mind me taking your slave to get some treatment?” He asked and I grimaced.“Why would he need treatment? He's just a human slave!”“That's exactly why he needs treatment. As a human, it's easier to get sick and die.”“W-well do as you see fit.” I said to Simon and he nodded.“Well then come with me, you.” Simon gestured to Fayne who gave me a hesitant look before going with Simon. Emily's POV Fayne remained by my side, his loyalty unwavering. Or so it seemed. But as the days crept by, I couldn’t ignore the way his eyes lingered on me, as if searching for something beyond my words. His fever had broken, but something else had shifted in him, something I couldn’t quite grasp. One afternoon, I found him in the training grounds, slashing through wooden dummies with a ferocity that bordered on madness. Sweat slicked his skin, his breaths ragged. “Fayne,” I called out, my voice slicing through the air. He stilled, knife held loosely in his hand, eyes glazed over with whatever war raged in his mind. “Emily.” His voice was hoarse. “I was just... preparing.” “Preparing for what?” I stepped closer, my gaze sweeping over the wreckage of splintered wood. “For whatever comes.” His gaze flicked to me, something wild and desperate gleaming in his eyes. “You’re surrounded by enemies, Emily. Rosie. The pack members who doubt you. They’ll all come for you eventually

Fayne walked beside me, his presence a steady anchor despite the chaos. His loyalty was unwavering, but it only fueled my resolve. I couldn’t let him down. I couldn’t let anyone down. When I reached the front gates, I saw her. Alpha Rosie, standing tall and formidable, flanked by her warriors. Their eyes gleamed with challenge, a restless energy crackling through the air. I stepped forward, head held high, my voice cold and unyielding. “Alpha Rosie. You’ve returned sooner than expected.” Her gaze swept over me, a cruel smile twitching at her lips. “I wasn’t satisfied with our last conversation. So I’ve come for answers.” “Answers?” I folded my arms over my chest. “I told you the truth. Jacob is dead. It’s time you accept that and move on.” Her eyes narrowed. “Move on? You think I

Emily’s POV We walked back in silence, the forest thick with the crisp bite of morning air. Fayne’s fingers never left mine, his grip steady, as if he feared I might slip away if he loosened it. Maybe he was right. Maybe I was still clinging to that old version of myself—untouchable, unbreakable. But his warmth seeped into me, a promise I hadn’t realized I’d been craving. Melissa was waiting at the pack house entrance, her brows drawn tight with worry. When she saw us approaching, her expression melted into relief. “Thank the stars.” She rushed over, eyes darting between us. “I was about to send a search party.” “I’m fine,” I said, my voice stronger than I felt. “Fayne’s fine. We’re…” I glanced at him, hesitating. “…we’re good.” His smile was small but genuine, a flicker of something unspoken passing between us. Melissa’s gaze narrowed, suspicion creeping in. “You sure you’re okay, Fayne? You look pale.” “I’m alright,” he replied, though I could see the fatigue etched i

Emily’s POVI couldn’t sleep that night. Fayne’s words echoed in my mind, tearing apart the carefully built walls I’d spent so long reinforcing. *You can’t keep pushing me away.* But I had to. I had to protect myself. To maintain control. Love was a weakness I couldn’t afford. And yet, my chest ached from the void his absence left behind. When dawn’s light spilled through the curtains, I forced myself to rise. There was work to be done. The pack to lead. The illusion of control to maintain. But as I walked through the corridors, I couldn’t ignore the way the pack members avoided my gaze. Whispers lingered on their tongues, doubt festering like an infection. They saw the tension between Fayne and me, the cracks in my authority. I wouldn’t let them see me falter. Not now. Not ever. Melissa found me in the dining hall, her face pale but composed. “Emily, we need to talk.” “What is it?” I snapped, my nerves frayed from a night of sleepless torment. “It’s Fayne.” She hesi

Emily’s POVThe hours passed in a restless blur. I prowled the corridors of Galahad like a caged animal, my mind tangled with thoughts of Fayne, Rosie, and the delicate balance I was struggling to maintain. I’d given Fayne his task, planted the seeds of deception. Now I had to wait for them to take root. But patience had never been my strong suit. Melissa found me in the training hall, my fists slamming into the padded target with punishing precision. The rhythmic thud of my strikes did little to ease the agitation clawing at me. “Emily.” Melissa’s voice was cautious, her steps light as she approached. “Is something troubling you?” “Everything,” I snapped, my fist crashing into the target one last time. “Rosie. Fayne. The constant need to keep everyone in line.” Melissa folded her arms, her gaze steady. “You’ve managed well so far. The pack is loyal to you.” “Only because I make them fear me more than they fear the unknown.” I wiped sweat from my brow, my breathing uneven.

Emily's POV I stormed through the corridors of Galahad, my mind spiraling into dark, desperate plans. The further I went, the more the anger burned. Rosie had dared to come into my territory, spewing accusations and threats, tearing at the threads I’d so carefully woven into control. I couldn’t let her unravel everything. Not when I was so close to consolidating my power. Fayne was a loose end. One that Rosie would undoubtedly try to tug at until it snapped. I reached his door and shoved it open without bothering to knock. Fayne was awake, sitting up in bed, his eyes clouded with fatigue but brightening the moment he saw me. There was something too earnest, too genuine about his smile. “Emily.” My name sounded like a prayer on his lips. I hated it. Loved it. Needed it. “I need to talk to you.” I closed the door behind me, locking it with a flick of my wrist. The air between us thickened, the quiet humming with something sharp and urgent. Fayne’s gaze drifted over me, the

Emily's POVI stormed down the hallway, my heart pounding in my chest. Everything about Fayne rattled me. His persistence, his unwavering devotion—it was infuriating. But most of all, it was terrifying. I couldn’t allow myself to be weak. Not when I had everything I’d ever wanted finally within my grasp. Jacob’s power. His pack. And yet… Fayne’s gaze haunted me more than Jacob’s corpse ever could. “Emily.” Melissa’s voice cut through the whirlwind of my thoughts. I hadn’t even noticed her approaching. She looked at me like she had something important to say, her eyes unusually bright. “What is it, Melissa?” I snapped, too wound up to entertain whatever nonsense she’d come to me with. “There’s… news.” Her voice wavered, something close to fear in her eyes. “What kind of news?” “Rosie. She’s returned.” I felt my breath hitch, a cold chill slipping down my spine. Alpha Rosie of the Thorns Pack wasn’t the kind of woman to back down easily. If she’d come back to Galahad,

How could he look at me like… like I was something precious? Something worth fighting for. I wasn’t precious. I was *ruthless*. Everything I had, I took. Jacob’s power, his allies, his pack—I claimed them all. Even Fayne. I’d poisoned the only man who had power over me and buried him in a coffin like a secret to be forgotten. No one questioned my claim as Alpha. No one dared. But Fayne? He questioned me with every look, every word, and still, he stayed. That loyalty should’ve made me feel triumphant. Instead, it rattled me to my core. I needed control. Over him. Over everything. A knock at the door. I straightened, wiping the frustration from my face

Emily's POV Rosie was a problem. Fayne was a problem. Neither could be ignored. I exhaled sharply, rolling my shoulders back. Think, Emily. If Rosie kept pushing, I’d have to deal with her. But killing her too soon would bring chaos. I needed to manipulate her, draw her in, make her believe I wasn’t her enemy. As for Fayne… I still didn’t understand how he had hidden so much of himself from me. He had always been powerful, but the energy I felt when he blocked my path earlier—it was something else . Something more . I needed to test him again. Push him. See where his limits were. I turned away from the map, my decision made. First, I would handle Rosie. Then, I would handle Fayne. Fayne’s Room I entered his room without knocking. Fayne was still in bed, his face paler than usual, but his eyes snapped to mine the moment I stepped inside. He had recovered faster than I expected. “I thought you’d stay away longer,” he murmured. I walked toward him, my e
