Emily's POV

“Yes,” I answered.

“Good, you can get going.”

“No, I'm going to go to the Galahad clan as a bride.” I said.

Matteo's eyes widened. “You can't be serious,” he said.

“No I am pretty serious.” I said and Matteo clenched his fists.

“Do you not know that the werewolves who attacked are Jacob Galahad’s men? If he has the desire to kill you, what more would he do to you when you're under his thumb?” Matteo asked me.

“You never really cared for me, Matteo, stop pretending like you do. I'm going to the Galahad clan and I'm going to make a difference.” I said which made Matteo frown.

“Well, it's your decision. Don't come crying to me when your plans don't work out. Don't forget, Jacob Galahad intended to kill you and he'll do worse when you're in his clan.”

I looked at my rider who was dead on the ground. He had tried to protect me and that didn't work out well for him. It made my heart ache a little.

Matteo looked at Fayne and then turned to me.

“Who is he?”

“My slave.” I said.

Matteo kicked Fayne and he backed down a bit, but I could see the blood soaking through his clothing. He was not okay. I held back the urge to go to him and Matteo looked at me closely. I could tell he was trying to test me to see if I cared about Fayne. I focused my gaze on Matteo while not showing any emotion.

“Your slave…” Matteo said and I nodded.

After seeing that I did not have the response that he wanted, he turned away. “I'll send one of my men to drive you to the Galahad clan. What happens to you afterwards is none of my business. Don't forget, Jacob Galahad will know that I killed his men then he will harbor hate towards you. Anyway, like I said, it's none of my business. You choosed this.”

Matteo disappeared into the woods and a man in a top, trousers and boots heads out. The moment he saw me, he bowed slightly.

“I’ll drive you to the Galahad clan.” He said.

I nodded. “Before we go, please dig a pit where we can bury the dead rider.” I told him and he nodded.

While Matteo's man dug a ditch, I stood there and watched. When the ditch was ready, Matteo's man put the dead rider in it and buried him.

I ran my fingers through my hair. I didn't even want the rider's name.

“Thank you…” I trailed off to Matteo's man as I didn't know his name.

“It's Collins, ma'am.”

“Thank you Collins,” I said, then I turned to the grave for my dead rider.

“Thank you for trying to protect me, I'm forever grateful.” I said. Then I sighed. “If only I knew his name…”

“Tim.” Fayne whispered.

I turned to Fayne and raised a brow.

“I asked his name when I was sitting with him front of the carriage,”

“Oh,” I said.

I carved a stone with Tim's name and placed it on the shallow grave.

“We should go now, the Galahad clan must be waiting.” I said.

Collins nodded. I started to climb into the carriage. Once again, Fayne stretched his hand forth to help me but I ignored his hand and got in the carriage myself.

Fayne may probably feel bad about it but i decided to not care. I didn't want to give anybody anything to talk about by caring for my ‘slave’

I sensed Fayne sit next to Collins in the front of the carriage and then the carriage started moving forward.

Soon, the afternoon passed and when it was evening we finally arrived at the Galahad clan.

In front of the gate, i heard Collins speak loudly.

“The bride is here!”

There was no response for a while.

“What is going on here?” I asked out loud.

Could it be that Jacob Galahad expected me to be dead? If not, why weren't people stationed in front of the gate to receive me? It was weird.

“Collins, what is going on?”

I stepped out of the carriage and before I could comport myself, I tripped and was about to fall when Fayne grabbed me by the waist.

My veil fell off of my face causing me to stare up into Fayne's eyes. He looked at me with his eyes and then he cleared his throat and let me go.

Then he picked up the fallen veil and placed it in my hands.

“um, ma'am, I can't be here any longer.” Collins said after a while of being outside with no one receiving me.

“Why not?” I asked him and he cleared his throat.

“I have other tasks to pursue for master Matteo.”

“You can go,” I told Collins and Fayne turned to me.

“Are you sure? I'm a human, I can't protect you if other werewolves attacks.”

“It's fine,” I said. “After all, I signed up for this.” I turned to Collins.

“Thank Matteo for me when you get back.”

Collins bowed. “Sure will.”

Then he disappeared into the woods, leaving me alone ith Fayne.

Fayne looked at me cautiously. “Please get in the carriage at least.”

“No, I will not.” I said and proceeded to walk to the gate.

I knocked on the iron steel gate multiple times untill the knuckles of my fingers started bruising.

“Emily, please stop this. Your fingers are going to bleed.” Fayne told me but I pushed him away from me.

“This has nothing to do with you.”

“But I'm here with you so it has something to do with me.”

Fayne's words had me frozen in place for a minute.

“Emily,” Fayne said as he held my hand softly.

“You should not be going through this,”

I sensed movements within the gate. Someone was coming.

“I—”

I placed my finger over Fayne's mouth, forcing him to hush.

“Jacob Galahad is my groom. I don't think he means for me to be locked outside.” I said.

Just then, the gate opened.

He goes with me wherever I go.”The security man cleared his throat.“My name is Simon, I work for Jacob Galahad.”“I see.” I said with a smirk.Simon gestured me into the gate. “Please come with me.”“I would go in with you but first, wouldn't you like to apologize for leaving me outside for so long?”Simon cleared his throat. “Well… I didn't expect that you would arrive so late. We thought you'd changed your mind.”I sneered. “Aren't you curious as to why I arrived so late? Or is it none of y

Emily's POV I didn't know how long I stayed in the room, all I knew was that throughout the night, my tears poured down. It wasn't untill the morning that I heard a knock on the door.I wiped my face and went to open the door. Behold, it was Fayne. And he was holding a tray containing food.“W-what are you doing here?” I asked, feeling a bit embarrassed that I could be seen like this by him.“I asked the maids if you've eaten but none seemed to care. I guess since you're here, I'll have to be the one to tend to you.”I frowned. “So my husband doesn't really care about me,” I said.“Shh,” Fayne placed a finger on my lips, silencing me. “They'll hear,” he whispered.I let out a silent sigh. So he knew that the werewolves had super hearing. I wondered how he was getting a hand of this when clearly a lot was going on. And he was human, shouldn't he be more fearful and mad at me that I didn't tell him who I really was… or what I really was.“Come in,” I gestured him to come in.Then I re

There's no way I can build an image here I…” I trailed off, realizing that Fayne had a point.“Ultimately, you are Jacob's Luna whether he wants to admit it or not. You just have to build yourself untill it's extremely hard for you to be ignored.”“I see.” I said.“And how do you think is the best way for me to do that?” I asked.“Build some rapport with the people here. That way it won't be hard for you to get information.”“All these things you're saying sound easy to the ears but ultimately, they're easier said than done.” I said.“I was the advisor to the queen, believe me I know how things work in hierarchies.” Fayne said.“It's not that I don't trust your words, it's just that things are harder now that we're in a pack of werewolves. Emily's POV Simon seemed a bit flustered, “Well, I just came here to check on you. Have you eaten?”“Fayne gave me something to eat.” I replied.“From now, I'll send you a maid to take care of you.”“Okay,” I replied, pretending to not think of it even though I knew that that was Jacob's way of putting an eye on me.“By the way, do you mind me taking your slave to get some treatment?” He asked and I grimaced.“Why would he need treatment? He's just a human slave!”“That's exactly why he needs treatment. As a human, it's easier to get sick and die.”“W-well do as you see fit.” I said to Simon and he nodded.“Well then come with me, you.” Simon gestured to Fayne who gave me a hesitant look before going with Simon. Could you find a way to clean that up for me?” I asked.“Of course,” Melissa said with her head upright. “By the way, Luna, more clothes will be delivered to you.”“Okay,” I said and nodded at her.“I’ll go get the cleaning equipment,” She said and ran out the door. When she came back, she was holding an equipment and cleaning tools. She started to clean up the closet and wardrobe.I realized at this time that Anna was no longer listening down the hallway. I let out a sigh of relief and sat down on the bed.I thought to myself about when I would see Fayne again. To be honest, I was a bit worried about him because of the wound on his body. Then I grabbed Melissa by the wrist and took her to my room.Once we were sure we were alone and not being listened to, she turned to me.“I'm assuming you didn't just bring me here to work for you as your servant because you like me right?”I smirked.“So you're not as dumb as I think you are, Huh?”“Why do you want me?” She asked, looking at me with concern and a little bit of fear in her eyes.“I know you were the late Luna's servant so I want you to tell me everything you know about her death.”Melissa's face changed. I could tell she was holding a lot of pain and emotions within her but most importantly, she wasn't willing to speak out, but maybe if I tried a little more, I would get a reasonable reaction from her.“Everything I know about her death huh,”

This time that he was in my room, I knew that he was trying to gauge me up to see what I was trying to do as his new Luna. If he had a clue what I really meant to do then I would assume that he would shut me down in so many ramifications which was why I had to be careful.“Well, it just happened that I choose her. She's just a maid so It doesn't matter.”“Just a maid, I see.” Jacob said, and I nodded.“By the way, I sent some of my men to investigate who those men were that attacked you.”“And who are they?” I asked.“Not sure yet. I found some carrots on the ground and I fed it to the horse as well as some water. When I was done, I walked where Viper had been killed and saw that his body was still there. I removed his body away from the tree and checked his pockets only to see a purse. I grabbed it and checked it only to see that it contained silver. I kept the purse in my dress pocket and found something I could dig the ground with. Then I buried Viper in a far away distance and headed back to Beth's hut.
