Last Call
**Day 1**
Evander opened the door to the stone house. He then stepped to the side to allow me to step in first.
The brick house had a rustic feel to it. The wood floors beneath my feet were a dark shade. And the walls were a cream color.
The charming foyer was half the size of Godrics, yet still beautiful.
The ceiling above was made of the same wood as the floor. And instead of a fancy chandelier, there were three matching exposed beams with dangling lights between each of them. Giving the house more of a cathedral look.
After we cleared the foyer, the house revealed an open floor plan with an arched doorway separating the living room and dining area. The entire room was almost surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. Giving me a full view of the forest surrounding the back of the house.
There was a lingering burnt ash smell. Compliments of the oversized fireplace built into the only wal
Obstacles Evander practically threw me into the car, slamming the door behind him. I'd never been so scared in my life. It was only the first day and I already made him lose his temper. His eyes were black as night when he snapped Brad's neck. Granted I was angry with the young boy, but I didn't want him dead. I couldn’t help but think, what would have happened if Evander had not shown up. My skin began to crawl as I relived Brads’ hand on me. My mind came back to the here and now when Evander jumped in the driver’s side, slamming his door as well. The entire crowd who witnessed everything just stood around looking at the car drive away. I was shocked to see what just happened didn’t break up the party. The music started again as we pulled out the driveway. What's more surprising is no one did anything to stop him. They just watched as Evander handed down a death sentence. Without question or plead
The Trio Patrick and Evander agreed to try the farming idea. They spent the next hour picking which foods they would grow and putting together a plan. Evander suggested they buy animals like chickens and roosters to create a supply of eggs and more chickens. "All we need now is a farming team to execute the plan," Patrick said. "We can do get some volunteers tonight at the community meeting." "Since when is there a town meeting?" Patrick asked. "Since now. Get everyone together. Meeting starts an hour before sundown." Evander thanked Patrick for his time and the coffee, and we jumped back in the car. "You inquired about the land? Why?" Evander asked me to refer to my comment about Godric’s farming suggestion. I answered him. "Why wouldn't I want to know about the land where I would spend the rest of my life." Evander wasn't satisfied with the answer I spit out. He gave me a skeptical look
The Community I was amazed to see everyone under Evander’s command and running this community was young. Each person seemed to be more than 5 years older than me. Where were all the old people? We made two more stops to isolated homes before finally making it to the center of the property. I recognized the area from the previous day, where saw the four long homes and the huge barn. Looking at everything now, I realized it would maybe be a year or two before they completely settle in. Unlike Godrics’s land, there weren’t any buildings, stores, or even markets. As soon as we exited the car, all eyes were on us. I noticed a few tables with umbrellas placed near the barn. And in the middle of those tables was a big pit used for grilling food. Smoke arose from the pit and floated through the air. Evander must have noticed me eyeing the umbrellas. By now the sun was at its highest peak. “You can go sit but stay
Anything I wantI pushed through the crowd, making my way back to the bonfire. The unknown girls’ words were still on my mind. ‘Masters new pet.’ I wasn’t his new pet. When I cleared the crowd and entered the circle of logs placed around the bonfire, Evander’s and Mason’s eyes landed on my shirt.“Oh. Looks like the baby had an accident.” Mason teased. I ignored him.Evander asked, “What happened to you?”I decided not to make things worse by ratting on Mia. Instead, I responded. “Nothing. I had an accident.”Both of the guys burst out laughing.I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms across my chest. “I’m ready to go Evander.”“Well, I’m not.”“Well, I’ve had all I can take for tonight. I’m ready to go.”For a moment, I forgot where I was and who I was tal
Zaya's CompanionI was alone staring at myself in the mirror. ‘What just happened?’ I asked myself.I rushed out of his bathroom and out of his bedroom, catching only a glimpse of Evander laying across his bed. I ran to my room and closed the door behind me. My knees collapsed next to the bed. I sat on the floor leaning against it for support as I sat there on the floor. My skin was burning as my chest struggled to maintain a steady breathing pattern. I was scared of him and what he planned on doing to me. But yet my wolf thought otherwise. My wolf missed Godric truly but deep inside, somehow, she was attracted to Evander. He was tall and handsome. But I wasn’t going to give in to her temptation.I fell asleep lying on the floor. My body jerked awake as I felt the sun against my skin. It was morning again. My head was spinning from the little bit of alcohol I digested yesterday. “W
The Making of Audrey*Note: This chapter has explicit and sensitive content*Audrey was right. Why was I holding back?I asked my question again, but the way I should have said it the first time. “How long have you been rogue?”“Since I killed the Beta of my pack.”My eyes almost popped out of my sockets. Did she say she killed her Beta? Audrey, who was busy folding clothes, continued her story without missing a step.“My mother died when I was only ten years old and something in my father broke. The older I became, the more he would compliment me. Saying how much I look like her. Saying how beautiful I was. Once I turned thirteen, he started putting his hands where they didn’t belong.”I watched as she told her story and continued to fold her clothes and place them neatly in drawers.“First, his hugs became longer and tighter.
TrophyMy mind kept wondering how many other wolves in this community had stories like Audrey. Heroic stories. Tragic stories. How many wolves weighed the option of doing what's right against the pack rules and picked what's right? The pack rules and the undying loyalty of wolves were the one thing I would always have to get used to. It was so different from the way I was raised. Then I thought back to the words I said to Godric when he asked me if I promise to be loyal to him and the pack. Before the Moon Goddess, I promised.I spent the rest of the day with Audrey. Helping her organize her room. It was only after everything was completely unpacked that I caught a glimpse of a picture placed on her nightstand. Her arms were thrown around a little girl with the same face as her that I assumed was her sister. Huge smiles were engraved on their faces forever. As the day wound down and the night crept upon us, both of our
The Waterhole ***Day Twenty*** It’s been a few weeks since I first met Audrey. She took me everywhere she went and along the way, we got to know each other more. First thing every morning, she would make her way to Evander’s house. Then we would hang out until nightfall. Hanging out with her made being her a lot less painful. Almost like hanging out Anna made me more comfortable with the Blood Moon pack. And I appreciated this. I saw Evander less and less every day. But I didn’t mind that. He kept to himself, and I did the same. It was almost like we didn’t live together. Like we didn’t share the same kitchen and our bedrooms weren’t less than twenty feet away from each other. Only crossing paths when we’re outside in the common areas of the community. And even then, he barely glanced at me. It was almost like I wasn’t there at all. This treatment worried me the first few days of him ignoring me. I couldn
