Chapter 5

(Evelyn’s POV)

As soon as my work finished, I literally ran out of his room. I don’t know why but whenever I meet Alexander, there is always a feeling inside me that pushes me towards him more and I have to try my best to control it.

“Evelyn!” Mia screamed in my ears from behind when I was totally lost in my own thoughts.

“Oh god!... Mia, you scared me” I slapped her arm in a playful manner.

“But it was worth it, you should have seen your face” And she was still laughing while I just shook my head with a smile.

“Ok, ok, now what are you doing here?”

“I took a little break,” She said while stretching her body as if she has done a whole lot of work but it has only been 5 hours since our shift started.

Before I could respond to her, one of our colleagues came and informed us that the head manager has called an urgent meeting right now and we all walked towards the conference room.

“Why an urgent meeting? Will we get a bonus for our good work? Or is there a party for us?...” 

“Mia, shut up” I interrupted her rant. She is one hell of a curious girl. Then, I looked around the room and almost every staff member was there and we all were waiting for the head manager.

Next second, he entered and everyone quieted down. 

“Guys, we have this meeting because there is something that I have to tell you all…The owner of this hotel has arranged a party for our VIP guests tomorrow night. So, we want each and every staff member either from morning shift or night shift to be present there…In that case, I want night shift people to start preparing for the party, each department’s managers have been told what to do and they will assign you all your work…Tomorrow, the night shift people should be here at least 2 hours early than their shift…Is everything clear to you all?”

“Yes sir!” Everyone chorused simultaneously and the head manager left while staff member’s started talking to each other.

“Wow! A party, I can’t believe I’ll be part of it” Mia was really excited about it was clearly visible and on the other hand I was dreading to be a part of it. Like for the whole night I have to see Alexander.

After a while, we all dispersed and continued our work until the shift ended. Until the next day, everything was going on smoothly, I worked at the cafe in the morning without any disturbance and in the evening we all were done with the preparation of the party.

For today’s party, we are told to wear decent formal clothes. So, I wore white floral top with black mini skirt. I was busy arranging food when someone came and informed me that guests had started arriving. 

“Mia, take these” Like this I instructed 3 more staff members to take a few snacks and lastly I walked into the hall where a party was arranged with drinks in my hand.

The moment I entered I was shocked to see so many people and as I stepped forward, there were so many good looking men and beautiful women. Just by looking at the scene it was clear that everyone present here was very rich. After recovering from the shock, without any disarray, I served the drinks to the guests.

After a while, I went and stood on the side. A light music was playing, some were dancing while others were engaged in their own conversation. I was so focused on seeing them that I didn’t realise when someone came beside me.

“Hello, miss” A man said while leaning towards me and because of his closeness I have to take a step back. 

“Hello sir, Do you need anything?” I tried to be professional but that man didn’t budge and started leaning more towards me. He was eyeing me in a bad way while taking a sip from his drink.

“Uh sir, I need to go” I immediately ran from him and walked out of the hall.

I leaned against a wall and tried to control my breathing by taking deep breaths. After a few minutes, I was in control and then went back but the second I stepped in my eyes met with the one person who was invading my dreams nowadays.

We both looked at each other for a few seconds but then he broke eye contact and continued talking to others while I again started serving drinks to the guests. 

“Hey! Where did you go?” I jumped a little when that man again approached me and this time from behind.

“Sir, pls leave me alone, if you don’t want anything” I tried to walk out again but this time he held my hand. The hall was dimly lit so no one knew what was happening with me.

“Who said I don’t want anything?...I want you” He said and pushed me towards him because of which the drinks in my hand fell on both of us and the crash of a tray on the floor made a loud noise, bringing everyone’s attention to us.

“What the hell? You bitch ruined my expensive suit!” Next second that man started yelling at me while I tried to cover myself with my hands as my whole top was ruined. 

“Get me your manager!...I want to talk to your fucking manager, right now!” He continuously screamed at me and after controlling myself, tears fell from my eyes and I just looked down the whole time.

“Stop!” A loud, roaring voice surrounded the hall and everyone looked at the owner of that voice.

Alexander stood in between the hall with hands in his pocket and a ferocious aurora coming from him. For a second, I thought everyone present there bowed their heads in some kind of submission in front of him. But then, my mind was back on him when he started walking towards us.

He removed his coat and put it on me and then stood in front of me while facing the man who made the chaos.

“Who the fuck do you think of yourself?”

“But al, I mean sir she…”.

“I saw the whole thing, so don’t give me any bullshit!” He shouted at him and the man bowed his head down.

“Brian!..Handle this” He called someone and that person was instantly in front of us while Alexander turned around to look at me.

“Let’s go” He then led me outside the hall and after entering the lift, I realised we were going to his room. 

For a second, I panicked but then he clutched my hand gently and gave me a smile for the first time since we met. At that moment, I felt as if something big was going to happen in my life.
