Reagan's POV

The loud thud of Hayden's fist collided with my face, making me stumble back. Pain radiated through my cheek, and I could taste the metallic tang of blood. Hayden's eyes blazed with a fury.

He scoffed, looking down at me with disdain. We were, thirteen, father had just begun training us, preparing us for the day we would shift to our wolf form. As a bastard child, I had always tried my best to please my father. I studied twice as hard, practiced from morning till night, all in the hopes of earning a rare smile from him. I never realized that my hard work was breeding resentment in Hayden.

Hayden grabbed my shirt, his jaw clenched tight as he spat out, "You think you're some great person just because you beat me? You want to steal my place as the next Alpha, huh?"
