"But I brought you breakfast in bed!" Ayo grumbled and pouted. "It's only fair."

"Yea, and what's so special about that?" I sipped my tea and wiped the back of my mouth with my hand.

He pulled at my legs again and whined. "You are so so special and, and stop glaring at me like that..." I kept a passive face. "And I had to make you breakfast. I strolled to the bakery to get a fresh loaf, I fried the eggs too, and made you steamy hot tea."

"Okay," I gestured for him to continue. "And what else?"

"So funny story, when I was preparing the first set of eggs that I fried," my eyes widened and he quickly continued. "The shell broke into it when I cracked it into the bowl, I guess it was a soft egg so I just washed that out after unsuccessfully trying to get them out.

Then I tried making new ones, and these were hard because they cracked just fine into the bowls. Then the worst part, the onions. I full on bawled for ten minutes because the onions were cute and I couldn't just not cry. So yes, I went through all of that and cried for the onion before I brought you breakfast."

"I thought you knew how to cook?" I raised a brow.

"Yes I do. It was just one of those days." He nodded.

"Obviously, because the egg was soft and the onion was too cute." I nodded too fast.

"Trust me Fey, that's what happened." He kept a straight face.

My heart beat faster and I focused on my food. I could almost tell that Ayo noticed how quickly my mood had changed. He's always been the one to notice my moods and understand me even when I don't talk. Like right now, I just hope that, for once, he wouldn't read me correct.

"Tea, is everything okay?" He pulled himself beside me and held my hand.

"Yes," I choked out, when in fact all I wanted was for him to drop my hand. Or did I?

"Okay then," he rubbed my back and I relaxed. "You know you could always talk to me right?" His brows pinched.

I nodded and chewed my food slowly. All these tingles running up and around me shook me, and I pushed my plate towards Ayo. "Here, finish it."

"In as much as I want to eat the rest of this, don't you think it could have been better if you had just allowed for us to eat together from the beginning?"

Ya, and have me choke every few seconds and my heart beat me into a hypertension? We'll literally be sipping from the same mug. But that shouldn't be alien to you, should it Fey?

Okay, right after Ayo leaves, I've got to get my emotions and head in check.

"So how are we spending the rest of our day?" Ayo asks once he finished eating.

"I was thinking sleeping or Netflix." I shrugged and picked up the bread crumbs from my bed.

"Is that code for Netflix and chill?" He smirked. And I obviously died.

"Get your mind out of the gutter Ay, literally get it out of there. Since when did friends Netflix and chill?" I rolled my eyes.

He grinned. "Since forever. I mean don't best friends usually end up getting married?" He winked.

"Um yeah, in some few people." Was he... insinuating something?

"We're off to a great start then." He settled underneath the covers and tugged me towards him.

I turned on the TV and scrolled through the movies till I settled on Work It, the dance movie featuring Liza Koshy and Sabrina Carpenter. I turned to Ayo and he nodded. I pressed play and turned off my lights from the switch beside me.

I laid under the covers and Ayo immediately pulled me towards him and tangled our legs together. I sighed softly and watched the movie trying not to fall asleep with how completely relaxed I felt in Ayo's arms.

The credits had rolled out by sometime around 12pm and Ayo and I had gotten up to take our baths, separately of course. He headed over to his house next door while I just settled in my bathroom. I settled for one of the tea tree scented bath bombs I found in my cabinet and took a long bath till Ayo knocked on the door and had me come out.

He was dressed in white sweatpants and a grey light t shirt and I was in a large sweatshirt and some Adidas shorts. I let my braids hang out around my head and just oiled them because of the dryness of the weather.

"Let's stroll to the mall." Ayo suggested just as I was about to lay back in bed. "And maybe just look around and get some lunch. Or whatever you want to do."

I raised myself back up. "Yea, let's go and maybe I'll get some more miniature Miniso products." I grabbed my purse and slipped it into Ayo's pocket. "Thanks love."

"You're going out in those?" He waved his index finger at my bottom half.

"Why not? Are you bothered?" I blinked slowly.

"Of course I am!" He glanced at my legs and my brows raised. "Those guys would just be looking at you creepily." He frowned. "They've gotten worse at harassing people. Please Fey."

Okay now, he definitely knew calling me Fey turns me to mush. "Alright alright." I headed into my closet and wore some jeans instead.

"Yep, great. Let's go." He grabbed my hand and locked our fingers.

I checked to be sure I had my house keys and locked the door as we stepped out.

"Good afternoon Mr Ade." We greeted the gatekeeper in sync.

"Afternoon o, how una dey?" (How are you people)?

"We're fine. We want to quickly go to the mall. We'll be back soon." I informed him.

"Okay, Ayo better take care of her well." He opened the pedestrian gate and we stepped out.

"Will do sir." He tipped an imaginary hat.

"E ma pe o." He called out after us. (Don't stay too long).

I threw a peace sign into the air and he laughed.

We walked out of the estate and greeted the security before strolling for fifteen minutes to the mall. Immediately we entered inside, I sighed with the air conditioning that blasted me. Outside was really hot and the sun in Lagos was something else out of the world. It was scorching.

Ayo suggested we got cold drinks before we started anything. I stopped at Dunkin Donuts for an iced latte and Ayo got a milkshake at KFC. We sat there and drank our drinks slowly before getting up and heading to Miniso.

I was checking out purses while Ayo was trying out all the sunshades they had. He pouted to the mirror and posed as he switched shades. When he was halfway done, he just picked out two different black ones and came over to me with a leather journal in his hand.

“Here,” he placed the mint green journal in my shopping basket.

“I didn’t know that they made these.” I said while browsing through the different sets of earphones I found. “Thanks. How’d you even know that I wanted one?”

He shrugged his shoulders. “Perks of knowing your lame ass for so long.” I went to punch him and he held my fist.

“Aren’t you a violent little thing?” He smiled. “Don’t tell me this is how you got into physical fights with girls at your school?”

“Oh no, I would never. I could kill someone’s child, with how skinny they were.”

He chuckled and shook his head. “Only you would make yourself feel better that way.”

“I mean I do Karate, don’t you think it’d be a bit unfair and mean to lay my hands on someone?”

“Of course. Straightstones made you soft. You’ve never been this…nice.”

“Hey!!” I slapped his arm and he winced. “I’m not soft, look.”

I turned on the best puppy dog face I could muster and made my lips tremble. “Wook, I’m not swoft.”

Ayo held my cheeks in his hands and brought his face closer to mine. My faux soft look almost dropped, the lightning of the store hit his face in the best angles, his eyebrows were full to perfection and his eyelashes were literally four times longer than mine. His lips were glossy with lip balm and he had a stubble growing on his chin. The brown in his eyes looked a lot lighter and more beautiful and I looked at myself in his clear irises.

“You aren’t.” His breath fanned my face and he leaned in closer and swiftly kissed my cheek before standing to his full height. “That punch you gave me yesterday still hurts like a witch.” He rubbed his shoulder and rolled his biceps and my eyes immediately followed the movement.
