CHAPTER TWELVE

My grandmother was the only mother figure in my life, she was the only person that truly loved my old self and my new one, she stood up for me when no one else did.

She was all I really had in the world and my greatest fear was losing her.

“Grandmother please be strong for me.”

I sobbed, holding her stiff soft hands.

The doctor said she might recover in a couple of days but what if she didn’t?

“She’ll be fine, love.”

Gabriel was beside me, holding me in his arms. He knew how much I loved my grandmother.

I escorted Gabriel to the gates, I wasn’t returning to my marital home that night, I already called Easton and told him what happened and I didn’t even bother asking for his permission to stay with my sick grandmother before I ended the call. He was my husband and not the boss of me.

“You know, I could stay.”

Gabriel said as we stood by his car.

“No, you have to go home. Janet will be waiting.”
