CHAPTER THIRTEEN

My grandmother was buried alongside my parents’ grave.

It was so hard seeing all three tombstones, It was like everyone I knew was gone. I felt alone in the world because I was alone and it was pretty terrifying.

“You’re not alone.”

A voice said behind me.

I turned around and there was Gabriel in all black standing with an umbrella above his head. It was raining and I didn’t care because I was crying so much.

“They’re all gone.”

I sobbed as he walked to me and shielded me from the rain.

“I’m here.”

He whispered.

We stood in silence, watching the tombstones in the rain for a while. Life was so unpredictable.

He led me back to his car and drove us to a nearby coffee shop.

“How do you feel about a trip?”

Gabriel suddenly asked as we carefully sipped our cups of hot coffee.

“I don’t know, I haven’t thought about that.”

“Janet’s planning to travel for a few weeks. She needs time for herself and the baby, I think you should go with her. The baby would be lovely to b
