Looking at the mirror, the redness of my cheeks did not take me by surprise. I didn’t know exactly what I had been expecting but I never thought he could lay his hands on me.

My eyes were swelling with so many unshaded tears as I ran away from the hall back into my room. The room that seems to be my haven in this new home of mine.

Cleaning off the tears I looked at the mirror again and noticed the scar that was peeking outside of the makeup that I had used to close it off.

My heart felt so heavy that I wanted to slump to the floor and never stand again, I feel so hurt and my eyes could not register what had happened in there.

“He slapped us because of her, I cannot believe him.” My wolf whimpered as she still could not believe it.

Cleaning off the makeup I fell to the floor and just stayed there. There was so much that I needed to know, and now if I am going to survive in this place I need to be strong for myself.

Hugging my legs as I wrapped myself I sniffled more of the tears that came as I sat there on the floor with so many thoughts running through my mind, I wish I was stronger than this, maybe just maybe I would be able to face the monsters outside.

After a whole day of being inside this room, I had talked so much to myself and knew how much I needed to be strong if I wanted to survive. I don’t know what to do yet but I knew I had to think about myself as well.

Leaving the room I walked outside and stumbled on someone who was bent in front of my door.

“Go…. Good morning.” The female bent on the floor stuttered through her words as her head was still bent down and not looking at me.

She has red hair and they are so curly as they flowed to her face with the way she bent.

“Good morning, who may you be??” I asked her while standing in front of the door as I held it and my eyes were on her.

She raised her head a little and peeked at me before dropping it back and kneeling properly.

“My name is Jessica and I’m meant to serve you, our future Luna.” She replied to me so slowly that I had to stand straighter as she stumbled on her words.

I sighed softly and walked past her into the living room.

I could feel her following me as I walked and settled down on one of the sofas.

My eyes scanned through the place I had stood where the slap happened and I wanted to take back all that had happened right there.

“Do you need anything??” The girl Jessica asked me and I raised my eyes and looked at her properly.

She seems to be the same age as I am. She stood taller her posture straight as she threw a glance my way.

If she was going to serve me, then there was no need for me to give her any attitude.

I was so tired from the previous day and just wanted my mind to be calm and for me to be calm too.

“Who sent you here??” I asked her and she looked at me again before walking to the chair beside her and settling down.

She sighed as she looked at me more, her eyes appeared relaxed. She appears to be calm but in those big brown eyes that she was staring right back at me with, there was nothing calm about the way she was looking at me.

“I wish there was a way for me to say no, but with all that has happened in the pack, this is the only place I could end up in.”

There was so much more to her words but I didn’t bother to press more words out of her as I sat there and looked at her.

Letting all the thoughts in my head fall away I decided to forget all about that.

“And do you have any idea where my supposed husband is??” I asked her.

She nodded as she stood up.

“It is the Alpha that asked me to serve you, he said I should make sure you are very comfortable in our pack, you have nothing to worry about Miss Elodie.”

She had a smile on her face for the first time this morning, and somehow I wished that I could replicate that smile, but I knew so much that it wasn’t for me, there was no way that I could smile that brightly after all that has happened.

“That is very thoughtful of him.” Standing I walked towards the kitchen because as much as I have gone through a lot, I needed to fill my stomach to the brim.

Somehow I know that this is just the beginning and I will regret ever stepping foot into this pack.

“We will be fine.” Her voice was as calm as ever she said to me.

I wish that was real, all we have ever wanted was someone who will love us just the way we are and that seems to be impossible.

If our mate can hate us this much, then there is no place on earth for my wolf and me.

“Are you okay??” The girl Jessica asked and I looked up and blinked at her, that is when I realized that tears had dropped from my eyes.

Sniffling them away I reminded myself of all those warnings that I repeated so much inside that room that I locked myself into.

“You don’t have to worry about anything, I have so much to show you today and I’m sure you will have the best time.” Jessica grinned at me as she showed her enthusiasm but I wished that I could reciprocate.

Meanwhile all I wanted to do was curl inside my bed and never leave there again.

After settling down for breakfast with Jessica chatting away to my ears, the only thing I made out of what she was saying was that she was going to show me the whole pack, and even though I didn’t like the idea, I wanted to see it despite myself.

But what will he say about that? The thought couldn’t leave my head as we wandered away later on.
