Chapter 2

We got up and proceeded to head out to TwentyOne, the pub run by the Witches in town. They didn’t appreciate us materializing directly into the pub, so I always materialized about a block away and just walked in.

Haven and I walked through the doors, hand in hand, and headed towards the back of the bar. Katrina was bartending as usual and narrowed her eyes at us as we approached her. “Hey there, darlin.” I said to her with a wink. She didn’t look amused. “And who is this?” She asked. There was venom in her voice while eyeballing Haven.

“Katrina, meet Haven, my girlfriend.” I said back, proudly introducing them. She didn’t seem amused. “I see. And are you feeling ok, Ramses?” Katrina asked while putting her hand on my forehead checking for a fever. I raised one eyebrow at Katrina.

“Yes darlin, I'm feeling amazing! Why would you ask that?” I asked her curiously. “I’m going to grab some mimosas, honey. I’ll let you guys, uh… Talk.” Haven whispered, and she pecked my cheek then headed off to the bar by the entrance of the pub.

I turned back to Katrina waiting for her answer. “The great Ramses… Never to be tied down, not even for me… Suddenly has a girlfriend?” Katrina spat. I could tell she was extremely annoyed. Clearly, I hadn’t thought this through too well before I decided to come here.

But this was my go-to. Where else would I go anyways? “Way to fucking go.” Titan snickered. “Asshole.” I snickered back. “Darlin, don’t you worry bout a thing. You know you’ll always be my…” But before I could say anything else that sharp pain radiated through my head, stopping me dead in my tracks.

Nothing else happened this time, just a pain that took my breath away for a moment then it was gone. “What happened, are you ok?!” Katrina gasped. I knew she cared about me, but all that was on my mind was Haven. Always Haven. “I’m fine, darlin.” I murmured. She narrowed her eyes at me again. “Well, I don’t fucking buy it. Who is she? And what has she done with Ramses?” Katrina spat.

I laughed at her accusation. “Darlin, I'm still me. The same me that you know and love. Ramses, in the flesh!” I howled, shooting fingers guns in her direction. She wasn’t buying it. “You’d better get back to your ‘girlfriend’ before she thinks anything is up. But mark my words, something isn’t right… And I'm going to find out what it is.” Katrina spewed.

I rolled my eyes. I got up and walked over to Haven. She had chosen a table the furthest away from Katrina she could find and was waiting for me to join her. “Fuckin women man.” I huffed to Titan.

“Always thinking everything is a conspiracy. You just can't win!” Titan howled back which made me snicker. He always had my back, even if I was wrong. I didn’t know if that was good or bad... But hey, at least he's loyal!

I wandered over to Haven and sat down while she slid me a mimosa. The second it touched my hand the orange liquid turned bronze. Haven eyeballed my drink with a smug smile. “What, you aren’t one for parlor tricks?” I asked.

She shrugged her shoulders and took a sip of her drink. “Well, that’s a shame, because I'm full of em!” I said with a grin. As we sat there talking and laughing about nothing I could feel Katrina's eyes on us. I was fighting the urge not to look over at her.

As much as I knew I wanted to look… God, I wanted to look… But I had to ignore her. The overwhelming need to please Haven was just too strong. Katrina, on the other hand, couldn't help herself I assume, because she walked over to our table a short time after that. Haven had a disgusted look on her face, and I was more nervous than anything. I knew my feelings for Katrina. She was my main woman.

I knew I could always come to her no matter who or what I had done the night before. She was my safe space, my commitment without the commitment. She was my ride or die, but here I was with another woman in a committed relationship.

In fact, that did seem a little weird, but before I had a chance to really think about it, I was interrupted. “I take it you plan to attend our Esbat tomorrow night?” Katrina asked. “Of course I do, you know I would never miss it.” I purred, causing Haven to huff under her breath.

I ignored her actions but felt guilty as I knew she would never understand my feelings or relationship with Katrina. Was I really willing to give all that up for Haven? I mean, I apparently was, because I already did... But how did we even get together?

In fact, I had no memories of us dating or even seeing each other. The line between us being together and us not being together was very blurred. I tried my hardest to coax the blurred line and retrieve whatever was underneath it, but I failed miserably.

Katrina raised her eyebrow at Haven and if looks could kill. “Cat fight!” Titan howled, and I had to fight to keep a laugh from escaping my lips. I was not one for this serious shit.  I was all about the humor in every situation.

“Ok, ok ladies. We don’t need to fight, there's enough of me to go around.” I said and I winked at Katrina. Much to Haven's dismay apparently, because she got up and grabbed my hand. “Let’s go, honey.” She snarled and pulled me towards the door.

I shrugged my shoulders at Katrina and followed Haven outside. Katrina just shook her head at me, but I knew she was hurt and trying to hide it. I felt a little guilty, but not really. Katrina knew the bounds of our relationship were not permanent.

She knew I wandered, and she chose to stay faithful to me all these years, while knowing I never would. She knew what she signed up for, and I pushed the guilt from my mind with that thought. It was just strange that she was acting this way over Haven, when she never acted like this when I was with literally any other woman…

We started walking away from the pub and once we got far enough away to appease Haven, she stopped and turned around, grabbing both of my hands and facing me. She looked deep into my eyes with her beautiful milky green orbs. I felt as if I were getting lost just looking into them.

“Look Ramses, I know you are a wanderer, and that’s just your nature. But is there any way you can at least try to respect this relationship?” She asked me. I was offended at first, but I suddenly felt fine with it. She was right and things between us should be exclusive.

She was my girlfriend, after all. Why would I make her my girlfriend if I wanted to see other people? “No, you’re right, darlin. I’m sorry, I do have a wandering eye… But I chose you, which means I do need to work a little harder to show you that you’re the only woman I want.” I replied.

The words sounded foreign coming from my mouth, like I was sitting back watching myself talk to her. Titan even started to argue at first, but then he submitted as well. I must be going crazy. I thought. But my worries were washed away when I saw Haven’s smile of approval.

“Thank you so much!” She said, and she jumped into my arms. That simple action made everything worth it. I had definitely chosen the correct path and I was confident in my decision. I was monogamous and with Haven 100%.

We decided to walk through the French Quarter together admiring the decorations. Every Esbat and Sabbat the town got together and decorated for the Witches. Their Esbats and Sabbats were essentially full moon celebrations and holidays.

They were a big deal here, in the French Quarter. The existence of the supernatural was not a secret here, and the town reveled in it. We admired the decor and the townspeople out decorating while we talked. We were contemplating life as supernatural beings.

Wait, I was a Reaver, but what was Haven? She wasn’t a Reaver, I knew that for sure. In fact, I realized just how little I really knew about her. Why would I take this woman to be monogamous with, when I hardly know anything about her?

How did we meet? Where did she come from, even? It was like she was suddenly there when she never had been before. I was confusing myself with these thoughts, and she must have noticed.

“What’s wrong?” She asked me. Just the sound of her voice resting on my mind seemed to brush away my doubts and replace them with confidence in us. “Oh nothing. I actually don’t even remember what I was thinking to begin with.” I murmured.

“We should head home. I have things to get ready for the ceremony tomorrow night. Things have to be perfect as per our alliance with the Witches.” I said. Haven groaned at the mention of the Witches. I knew it was because of Katrina, but she didn’t have to worry. I had promised her my loyalty. I planned to keep that promise.

“Darlin, I know. I can't get out of this though… You know I have a commitment to keep.” I purred to her. “Fine, but we aren't sitting by her.” Haven growled. “Ok, deal.” I replied, and I headed off towards home with Haven in tow. My mind was racing but no further thoughts about why we were here.

Chapter 3Once we arrived home I headed upstairs while Haven got in the shower. Katrina would be here any moment with the Human sacrifice. I always kept them in my home for the night. My hospitality was a welcome gift for them waiting to be sacrificed. They rarely change their minds, and only one woman had ever tried to run… I caught her easily though, she was no match for my powers. I had hoped Haven wouldn’t find out who dropped off the sacrifice, I didn’t want to deal with another situation like this afternoon. “Man being in a relationship is fucking hard. Always having to worry about someone else's feelings. Ugh.” I said to Titan. “Well, you chose this, fucker.” Titan roared back. I rolled my eyes as Katrina started walking up to the front door.I opened it before she could knock. She was looking extremely alluring in her black cloak covering her black lace tank top and mini skirt with combat boots. I was trying not to check her out, but man that was hard. In any normal situation I would have loved this, but something that the Human sacrifice had said was really sticking in my mind. ‘There is something off about that woman, please be careful around her.’ Her words were circling my mind like a hawk circling his prey. I knew something was off, something was different, I just couldn’t place it. And I couldn’t seem to get away from Haven for long enough to think clearly. Even right now I was struggling to think clearly. I needed to get out of here, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Every time I had a negative thought about Haven and our relationship it was like she was in my mind changing my thoughts. She can’t do that though, can she?My thoughts were all over the place and I had no idea how to know what was real and what wasn’t. I couldn’t fight it any longer, whatever was in my mind wa

Chapter 5Come morning it was time to grab Ari and head to the blood exchange with the Hybrids. This is where things always got a little dicey. The Hybrids had bad tempers and they always knew how to press my buttons. I’m not one to keep to myself and so there is always conflict. But I promised Katrina, and this was my due diligence. I had to prepare Ari, and deliver her safe from hard to the sacrifice tonight. I had been doing this for years, I wasn’t about to mess things up now. Once Haven and myself were up and going we headed to Rowen’s home to grab Ari. I knocked on my brother's front door and the maid from last night opened it shortly. She was eyeballing me in a manner that Haven didn’t like. “Keep your wandering eyes to yourself, kitty.” Haven snarled at the maid who purposefully looked straight at her and winked, which I thought was hilarious. Then she turned and motioned for us to follow her. She was dusting the shelves and objects on the walls as we walked to the foyer wh

Then they helped the Elder up as well. His part was now done. The blood exchange was complete. When Ari locked eyes with me I could see the change already happening. Contrary to popular belief, a Wolf can change regardless of the full moon. This was our next step. She would be hearing her Wolf spirit soon, and my next job was to get her to shift. She had to shift for her first time before the ceremony tonight or the ritual would have been for nothing. The Elders motioned for her to start walking towards the door where I was standing. She ran straight into my arms and I could feel her shaking. She could feel the power of the Wolf spirit manifesting, and it was manifesting with a vengeance. This is the part where I coach her into accepting her Wolf spirit and letting her inside… And then the part

Chapter 7She started to stir shortly after and her eyes fluttered open. A look of terror flashed through her face and she scrambled to get away from me. “Darlin, calm down, I won't hurt you. Like I told your Wolf, I needed to scare you into shifting early. If I hadn’t you wouldn't have come back after the ritual.” I explained. I could see her expression change as she started to calm down. I snapped and produced her a new ritual dress since she shifted and ruined the old one. But the old one was only for the blood exchange anyways. The dress for tonight was identical to the one she previously had on, but it was black with crystals. I handed it to her, and then stood and turned my back so she could change. “You really scared me, you know. I honestly thought you were going to kill me, Ramses.” Ari stammered. “I know, darlin. It was the only way, I’m sorry.” I said, my back still towards her while she changed. She walked up and grabbed my hand and turned me towards her. To my surprise

Chapter 8The next part was the sacrifice. Normally, one of the Witches grabs the ritual knife and slits the sacrifice’s throat, and then stabs her through the heart. It’s a little brutal to watch, but that's the ritual. This time it was Katrina’s turn. It was nothing she hadn’t done multiple times over the years, and nothing I hadn’t seen her do. Everything started out normal. Katrina stood and walked to the altar, picked up the ritual knife and headed over towards Ari. When she got to Ari she looked up and we locked eyes. I could see something sparkling in her gaze, something devious. That was strange... I watched as she snapped, which was unusual, then I noticed two of my men approach the altar with Haven bound and restricted in their arms. She was screaming through her gag, or at least trying to. They threw her down at Katrinas feet, bowed to Katrina, then turned around and walked away. What the fuck was she doing? I thought. But I knew better than to interrupt her.She ignored

Katrina buried her face in my chest. I knew she didn’t want to face her sisters. They both just stood there waiting for her to say something while I tried to console her. After a moment, she pulled herself out of my arms and faced them both. “Look, I know what I did was wrong… But it was for a damn good reason.” Katrina stammered. “Oh yea? And what could be a good enough reason for you to risk your magic??” Kember shot back. Katrina looked at me and I nodded to her. She looked back at her sisters and took a breath in. “Haven was a Forsaken. She had been messing with Ramses’ memories, and those of a couple of his brothers. I couldn’t let her get away with whatever she was secretly plannin

Chapter 10I materialized all three of us to my house. We set Haven in one of the guest rooms and left the dagger in her chest while we decided just how to go about this. When Haven comes back as a Human, she was going to be pissed. She would have no powers. She would start to age and have to learn to live her life as a Human. I didn’t even feel one bit bad for her either, especially after knowing all of the shit she stirred up. A Human life would be fitting for her. I decided we should go talk to my brother Raziel first before we did anything. That way we could see if the Human town along the edge of the Wolf pack bordering his lands would even be a good fit for Haven to begin with. Katrina agreed, so we materialized to my brother's front gate. Katrina gasped as she took in the sight of Raziel’s home. It was similar to mine. So similar, that you could definitely tell we were brothers. “It’s majestic, isn’t it?” I said to Katrina. “You guys are definitely related.” She replied. “Oh

Everything was blurry, I felt like I hadn’t opened my eyes in weeks and the light was burning them. “Titan?” I mumbled. “I’m here man!” He replied back in my head. “Oh thank god, I thought you were gone forever.” I murmured. “I told you I would be here!” He replied. I just nodded my head. “Ramses.” Katrina said. I opened my eyes again and tried to focus on her. “Huh? I replied back. She let out a breath I don’t think she was aware she was holding. After a moment things started to clear up and I was able to focus on Katrina’s beautiful face. I smiled at her. “Oh, darlin.” I said, and I sat up and pulled her into my arms. “Ramses, I’m so glad you’re back!” Katrina said, and she held me tightly. I kissed the top of her head and then I looked around. “Darlin, why are we on the floor in the living room?” I asked with a smile. “Re

As much as I don’t want to leave you, because you are bad ass as fuck, my friend… I have to get back to Katrina.” I said to my Wolf. “What was she crying about earlier anyways?” I asked Titan. “Oh, you saw that?” Titan said sheepishly. “Well by accident, I came around the corner to tell Katrina something and saw her crying holding onto you. I thought it was better to let her be, so I just turned around and kept working.” I said. “Oh, yea… Well, she was just having a hard time with Rowen leaving soon. We could chalk it off as a random occurrence.I let out a sigh of relief. As much as I was going to miss Rowen, I really wanted Ramses back. I was starting to come to terms with Rowen being gone, and I figured now was as good a time as any to talk to him about it all.“Rowen, can we talk for a while?” I asked him. “Of course, doll. They were wandering the spaces between the other areas and it looked like each area was a different theme. I saw girls dancing choreography. I saw acting and plays, role playing, improvisation. It seemed like every section was something different. Multiple times on this floor I had women run up to me and try to pull me into their areas to help with whatever it was they were doing at the time. I had to politely decline and keep on track. It could be so distracting in here, I didn’t see how Ramses got anything accomplished with all these women trying to stop him all the time. I might be able to access the damaged parts and possibly help put them back together? “Rowen! What if we tethered myself to Ramses? I could go into his mind and possibly help find the damaged parts and fix them.” I said, sitting up out of bed and straddling Rowen so he had to listen to me and couldn’t get away. We had never done anything like this before, and so we honestly had no idea what to expect. I was extremely grateful for Rowen. He stayed with me this entire time, never leaving me alone. I knew he didn’t want to stay, he wanted to cut ties with me the night Ramses went into his coma. But once he didn’t wake up, Rowen couldn’t bear to leave me alone. I don’t think I could ever repay him, honestly. The week was spent mostly stressing about Ramses and how to help him heal.
