Jade had never felt bolder and sexier than she ever did, except now, for she finally decided to let out her real sexual identity. And yes, Jade identified as a she from now on. She sashayed her way into the entrance of the forest where everyone was gathered for the next game tonight, wearing their uniform that she had specifically customize into a black short hoodie, gothic, punk pullover crop top, hooded sweatshirt long sleeves with alloy chain connected to the neckline that goes around her hips and backside, then she paired it with the women’s leggings uniform instead of the jogging pants assigned for the men.
That wasn't supposed to be her uniform. Men were given black jogging pants and black hooded sweatshirt while the women were given the same black hooded sweatshirt with black leggings.
She heard the loud cheers from the crowd as well as the taunts from homophobic males in other groups which she responded with her middle finger raised towards them.
“Wow! You look lost. The runway for fashion week is in Paris.” Someone shouted from crowd.
Hearing that, she posed like a real supermodel before continuing her sashay towards her group. She heard more compliments, disapproval and criticisms from others but she ignored it this time.
“You look amazing.” Yekaterina said when Jade reached them.
“I knew it. You’re obviously a woman at heart.” Blaize remarked, recalling that one-time that she laid her head on his chest when they fell from that hole for the first challenge.
“Are you sure about wearing that though?” Zayden voiced out his concern while looking at Jade’s exposed stomach.
“Why? Do I distract you?” Jade teased him and winked playfully.
“Yes. You’re a pain in the eye. Keep a distance from me.” Zayden retorted with warning in his voice.
“Your exposed stomach will be the arrow’s aim.” Ahrio said while making a gesture as if to shot her with an arrow straight into her belly button.
Andrik on the other hand just ignored all of them and focused his attention into the forest. He turned to Yekaterina when she said to him, “She’s beautiful, isn’t she?”
“No, you are.” He absent-mindedly replied making Yekaterina blush and looked away immediately. He wasn’t supposed to say that out loud but he did.
The sound of an arrow pierced through the wind, aimed towards Jade’s direction. In a split second, she fell into the ground when Zayden pushed him with force to dodge it. She cursed, wide-eyed then they all ducked down when a series of arrows came flying from every direction.
“The game has started. Run into the forest!” Yekaterina shouted.
Zayden looked around and saw people running into the forest and he watched as people fell on their knees when the arrow hit them.
“We can’t run! It’s too dangerous. We have to dodge the arrows, might as well crawl!” Ahrio suggested, seeing that most people didn’t make it inside the forest before they were shot with an arrow, dead.
Ahrio began to grovel to enter the forest and the others followed.
“Jade! Watch out!” Yekaterina yelled. Jade instantly rolled over to her side and the arrow struck the ground where she was before. More arrows were shot at them but they were able to look out for each other and avoided it.
Ahrio groaned in pain when a person’s body fell on his back, covering him, probably shot and is now dead. Another arrow was aimed at him and it hit the person’s dead body again. He was about to shove it off of him but he saw another arrow flying towards him, so he grabbed the body again and use it as a shield to cover himself.
“Sorry, I’ll make good use of your body.” He mumbled, referring to the dead person.
“Make sure to bury that after, Ahrio!” Blaize taunted him, he was close behind Ahrio.
Ahrio finally entered the forest, he stood up and quickly hid behind a tree, right in time when an arrow flew past the tree.
“Do you want to use that, Blaize? I think you need it.” Ahrio taunted him back. He heard Blaize cursed him before he made her way deeper into the forest, hiding behind trees, ducking and dodging arrows.
Yekaterina was almost inside the forest when an arrow came flying towards her, aimed at the back of her head but Andrik immediately covered her body.
“F*ck!” He swore when the arrow grazed his upper arm. Yekaterina looked up at him and Andrik pushed her, making her hurry.
“Go! I’ll protect you.” He instructed her.
Yekaterina didn’t have the chance to argue so she immediately run into the woods, and hid behind a tree. Soon enough, the six of them had gathered deep into the forest, arrows still flying past them but the trees provided shield and protection.
Jade suddenly shrieked in disgust and revulsion when she stepped on something mushy and soft.
“Ewww! Yuck!” She gagged and covered her mouth when she looked down and saw what she had stepped on. It was a dead animal’s decaying body, worms eating its flesh.
Everyone gathered around her. It wasn’t the only one, bodies of dead animals were scattered around the forest grounds like deers and boars. Some of it were unrecognizable because of the decay. The smell is horrid. They covered their noses but the horrible smell is too strong to ignore.
Andrik ripped off his sleeves and used it as a mask to cover his nose, then he handed the other one to Yekaterina. Her brows furrowed when she noticed the red stain on it and glanced at Andrik’s arm.
She then ripped her own sleeves and went closer to him to wrap it around his wound. Jade can’t help but roll her eyes as she watches the scene unfold, her shoulder covering her nose.
“It will ruin my outfit!” Jade complained, not wanting to rip her sleeve off just like the two.
“There’s nothing to ruin when it’s already ruined.” Zayden replied as he scanned Jade’s outfit covered with dirt.
Ahrio ripped both his sleeves and silently handed the other one to Jade causing the latter to squeal in joy.
“Thanks, lover boy.” She flirtatiously said, making Ahrio annoyed.
Blaize also ripped his sleeves and handed the other one to Zayden who accepted it reluctantly, weirded out at the sweet gesture.
The moon rose in the sky, illuminating the forest. Yekaterina noticed something that sparkles and is shiny on the dead animal’s body a few steps farther. She walked closer to it and she picked up a tree branch. When she was close enough, she used the tree branch to separate the decayed flesh from the shiny thing. It’s a key. She bent down and pick it up. She wasn’t even able to examine it thoroughly when suddenly another group of players came and one of them, a normal looking guy, bolted towards her and grabbed the key forcefully, taking her by surprise.
Zayden’s hand reached out and smack Ahrio’s head, bringing him back to reality. “Do you want to die? Why are you giving her all the keys?” At this point, the woman had already received the keys. Ahrio realized his mistake but he didn’t know how to tell her so he just slowly pulled one key out from the set while the woman watched him, puzzled and wondering what the hell is wrong with him. Zayden immediately grabbed the key from Ahrio’s hand, annoyed at his starstruck expression.
Blaize put Jade on the hospital bed at once when they were back inside the arena. There is a mini-hospital inside the arena and all the players are provided with medical treatment only once if they were still alive after completing a game successfully. “I need your assistance.” Yekaterina said as she wears the medical gloves. She had already checked Jade’s pulse and she’s still alive, fortunately. The wound is not that deep and luckily, it didn’t reach her organs or any main vein. “P
Jade’s body is shivering. She had fallen back to sleep after only a short minute of being awake. Yekaterina shakes her gently, to wake her up. "Jade, are you okay?” She asked, to which Jade replied, “Yes”. Then her eyes fluttered close, falling asleep again. Yekaterina fixed her blanket to cover her body properly.
Blaize sprinted towards Andrik as they walk back to Jade’s room, and put one arm around him, deliberately pushing and pressing down on his injured arm. Andrik groaned and almost lost his balance in surprise. “See? I told you you’re a pro at army crawling.” He smirked tauntingly and even raised his eyebrow up and down twice. “Yekaterina is super cool.” Zayden muttered like he was lost in a trance as he recalled something from his memory about Yekaterina, the way s
Yekaterina’s tears keeps on running down her cheeks as she watched Zayden and Ahrio burying Jade’s body. She leaned on to Andrik’s chest and he hugged her frame sideways, providing her much needed comfort. No one said anything for a while as they all just simply stared at Jade’s tomb. Until Blaize broke the lonely silence enveloping them. “At least she’s free out there.” Hearing those words, Yekaterina cried even more. They were elated about winning th
Blaize, Zayden and Andrik woke up with a massive headache. Groaning while holding his forehead, Zayden sat up from the bed. He noticed Yekaterina first who seems to be so restless in bed as she kept on turning her head left and right. She’s sweating profusely as well and her face held terror and a horrified expression. He got up and went to her, he shook her shoulders lightly to wake her up. “Yekaterina. Wake up.” Her eyes fluttered open and she immediately sat up and pushed Zayden away forcefully. “Go away!” She screamed then she hugged her body as she scooted ba
Andrik untied the rope from the tree and tied it on his waist, preparing to jump into the finish line where the other end of the rope was tied. As he was making his final jump, a loud searing scream echoed around the place but he didn’t have the time to turn or even glance to see what was happening because the rope snaps and breaks. He fell down, he raised his hands up and luckily, Zayden caught his one hand and held on to it, saving him from being torn into pieces by the crocodiles below. He felt relieved, but it was gone in an instant the moment he looked up at Zayden’s face who seemed to be in deep thought. And it’s definitely not something good.
Big explosions from fireworks one after another are heard from the outside, visible in the glass wall. Everyone wore splendid dresses. From a first glance and by its blinking, shiny beads on it that’s probably worth an average worker’s yearly salary, it's not just an affordable dress that a middle class could easily afford. Everyone has glass wine on their hand, cheers reverberated throughout the area when the fireworks were done. "Good evening, everyone." A host on the stage began his introductory speech. He wore a tuxedo, a gloomy g
The silence that ensued between them was enough to express the despair and misery they’re all feeling. Yekaterina and Andrik won, but it’s like they lost gravely. They don’t feel like they had won at all. In a game where you have to kill your friends and family just to win and survive, no one really wins at all. “Use it, Zayden. Save yourself.” Yekaterina said, when Zayden just stayed rooted where he is sitting. He looks lost in a trance, unable to move. He had laid down Blaize’s body on the ground beside Minerva and he sat down there leaning against the wall, staring into nothing.
The sound of his nose breaking echoed in his ears when BGN1’s fist connected with his face. Tradd’s head reared back as his eyes shut in pain. He staggers back a few steps but kept himself standing up, even when he can feel how much strength it takes to get himself together after having his world almost turn around in a dizzying axis. He re-enforces his stance, lifting the arnis in front of him higher and readying for BGN1’s next attack. BGN1 snickered, thinking just how useless his choice of weapon was against his extremely, bulky muscular form. He flexes his biceps and his
Blaize cocks the gun and approached where Zayden is hiding but he wasn’t there anymore. From behind, Zayden strangles him with his arms wrapped around his neck. He dropped the gun and grasp his arms to try and remove it around his neck. But Zayden held on to him tightly, not letting his hold on him loose. Blaize struggles to get free, he kicks his knee and elbowed him, hitting his neck and causing him to let go of him as he groaned in pain. “How dare you lie through your teeth and claim you’re my brother!”
Bringing each of their weapons, they went out of the room and decided to ride the elevator down to see what’s going on in the other floors. They paused and froze in their steps when the elevator door opened. The elevator walls and floors had been painted with blood. It won’t take a genius to be able to tell what transpired here. “The hunt has begun.” Yekaterina muttered in a low, breathy voice. The stench of blood is so strong as they stepped inside the elevator. Yekaterina pressed the ground floor and in just a matter of minutes, the elevator stopped and the doors ope
The sudden change was unprecedented, putting them all in a state of vulnerability. Yekaterina and her team had always played fair, not knowing the game beforehand except the previous game. Knowing beforehand is cheating and it’s like a drug that enabled them to relax and put their guard down. But just like a drug, once its effect wears off, you’re left with an anxiety you’re unable to handle. Your fears come back stronger and this time, you crave the relief and fake bliss that the drug has offered. That’s exactly wha
Tossing and groaning from the searing pain on his shoulder, Blaize woke up. He sat up in bed and looked down at his wounded arm, noticing that it looks like it’s getting an infection. He’s also coming down with a fever. He dreamt about the past again, just like every single time when he’s sick. It started when his grandfather passed away, leaving him with an information and a mission. To find and protect his twin brother. Yes, you got that right. Zayden Jaxen Flynn is Blaize’s twin brother. Gripping the folded picture
Blaize woke up from the aches of his body. Just like his normal day, he trained without any breaks. "You woke up already?" He saw his grandfather at the door of his room. "Come on, let's jog before the sun's up." "Grandpa, can I skip today?"
Instead of analysing what the game is all about, Yekaterina's group is amazed by the setting of the game, how prepared and detailed it is. If Jade didn’t tell them ahead of what this game is, they'll be all so busy finding and understanding the clues and the worst is there's chance that they will be eliminated. Contrary to their competitor for this game, the other group sealed their eyes on the balls. Examining what will be the best ball that they will choose to survive.
