Blaize sprinted towards Andrik as they walk back to Jade’s room, and put one arm around him, deliberately pushing and pressing down on his injured arm. Andrik groaned and almost lost his balance in surprise.

“See? I told you you’re a pro at army crawling.” He smirked tauntingly and even raised his eyebrow up and down twice.

“Yekaterina is super cool.” Zayden muttered like he was lost in a trance as he recalled something from his memory about Yekaterina, the way she posed, aim and released the arrow precisely and hit the target, bullseye.

Blaize turned to glance at Zayden for a quick second and shook his head as he can clearly see the starstruck expression on his face. Seems like someone is developing a crush on Yekaterina. He looked back at Andrik and thought, ‘Ah, that makes two of them’. He shook his head again at the thought.

Andrik removed Blaize’s arm on his shoulder and glared at him with a pissed expression. Someone grabbed his injured arm and when he turned to see who it was, prepared to tell the person off but when he saw it was Yekaterina, he decided against it.

“Your wound is bleeding.’’ She said after examining his wound closely. She looked up at Andrik’s face and met his deep and intense gaze. He could totally get lost in her eyes and then find himself again like a reborn person.  Her worried face, her soft eyes, her scrunched eyebrows and the way she pursed her lips when she’s slightly annoyed is like a painting that is slowly being engraved deep inside him.

Zayden can’t help but roll his eyes, witnessing the staring moment of Yekaterina and Andrik. He doesn’t know why and he can’t explain it but he feels irritated whenever he sees them like this. Like they’re about to bare their souls for each other. He pushed against Andrik and walked past them.

His annoyed gaze landed on a man in front of him who’s walking in the other direction, wearing a lab coat and a mask. The man caught all their attention for a split second as he passes them by, thinking there is something odd about him but they can’t exactly pinpoint it.

“I thought there are no medical personnel here.” Ahrio remarked as he glanced at Yekaterina, remembering how she had to operate on Jade herself.

They exchanged looks, then Yekaterina’s eyes widened when it dawned on her. She and Andrik bolted towards Jade’s room while Ahrio, Blaize and Zayden rushed to run after the man they had just saw.

Andrik threw the door open as Yekaterina hurriedly went inside to check on Jade, hoping they were all wrong about their assumption. But they weren’t. It was too late. On the floor was a used injection that is obviously what killed Jade. Her body laid on the bed, lifeless and frail. She looks like she’s just sleeping peacefully but the machine attached to her showing a straight, unmoving line shows otherwise.

But Yekaterina was not giving up yet. With trembling hands, she immediately performed a CPR on Jade and checked her pulse again and again. She kept going on, her eyes becoming blurry from the tears and her sweat flows down her forehead to her cheek. But her efforts were in vain. Jade’s hand dropped on the side of the bed, weak and devoid of life.

Ahrio, Blaize and Zayden arrived, dejected that they lost the man in an instant. He disappeared into thin air. They were even more devastated when they saw Yekaterina, who’s eyes were full of tears as she held Jade’s cold hand, sobbing heavily.

“Why?... Why would someone deliberately kill her this way?” Yekaterina’s voice broke as she cried, her heart gripped with pain and sorrow as she stared at Jade’s pale face.

Andrik frustratedly raked his hand on his hair, as he looked down, unable to answer Yekaterina’s pleading voice. Zayden and Blaize just stared into thin air. Death has been everywhere and has been happening every second since they entered the arena. The feeling of being surrounded by it makes death somewhat normal but Jade’s death doesn’t feel normal. For them, it’s heart-breaking, sorrowful, devastating, like losing someone dear to you, like losing a close friend...

Ahrio couldn’t handle being inside the room so he went out to continue searching for the man. He thought Jade’s death isn’t fair. She survived and fought on after almost dying during the game and they killed her mercilessly. He will find him and he knows what will happen once he did. His immense fury will be the judge of that man’s fate.

     “Where are you going?”

Ahrio turned when he heard that soft, melodic voice that is almost very familiar to him. He came face to face with Svetlana whose innocent eyes assessed him like he’s an extremely odd- looking object under her scrutinizing gaze.

“Nowhere. I’m just looking for someone.” Ahrio replied.

“Why? So you can do the same thing you did to that man during the game?”

Svetlana’s words shocked Ahrio, almost freezing him on the spot. She saw him. She saw him kill that man who stole the key from Yekaterina. Ahrio’s eyes looked away from her as he tried to find the right words to say to her, if there’s any at all.

“I believe you didn’t do that for no reason. I hope you’re not that kind of person. I believe you’re not, since you helped me not just once but twice.” She added, sounding like she’s convincing herself more than him.

“What you believe about me is not my problem.  Keep your distance from me.” He responded coldly.

His words and tone should have made her turn around and leave without looking back but she didn’t. For some reason, something inside her is telling her that he doesn’t mean what he just said. That maybe he’s just hiding his real emotions, masking it or burying it behind that tough façade of his. Or is it her, that wants to be closer to him?

He fell down, he raised his hands up and luckily, Zayden caught his one hand and held on to it, saving him from being torn into pieces by the crocodiles below. He felt relieved, but it was gone in an instant the moment he looked up at Zayden’s face who seemed to be in deep thought. And it’s definitely not something good.

“Enjoying the night, aren’t you?” Andrik couldn’t hide the pissed off, sarcasm tone in his voice when he said it to Zayden. He’s not sure exactly which one is the heavier reason but it has to do with one thing, hands. Him, letting go of his hand, almost delivering him to the eyes of death or him, holding Yekatarina’s hand far longer than he likes. Better not at all, for sure. Zayden faced Andrik to reply to his sarcastic question. “Yes, I am.” He stepped closer to him and fixed his tie quickly, then he swiped the imaginary dust on his suit before looking back up at him, “If I were you, I won’t keep her standing there alone.” He

They rush back inside to check what was going on and they both don’t know how to react when they saw it was just Blaize, standing in front of probably a dozen or more broken champagne glasses on the floor that was previously the pyramid champagne glasses. People were gathered around him, watching him and they were also the ones who overreacted earlier. Blaize just shrugged and started to build a new pyramid using champagne glasses. He did it patiently and expertly like he had been doing this for over a decade during his free time. After a few minutes he had successfully completed making it and he started popping champagne bottles and pour it to hi

Everyone has glass wine on their hand, cheers reverberated throughout the area when the fireworks were done. "Good evening, everyone." A host on the stage began his introductory speech. Save yourself.” Yekaterina said, when Zayden just stayed rooted where he is sitting. He looks lost in a trance, unable to move. He had laid down Blaize’s body on the ground beside Minerva and he sat down there leaning against the wall, staring into nothing.
