Back into the yacht, the players are all seated in their respective tables while they wait for the waiters to serve them their dinner after they changed into dry set of clothes. The place is filled with soft, melodic music, and the lights were dimmed as everyone talks about the game that had just finished while sipping their drinks.
Some were laughing and giggling when they recall how they aced the recent game whereas some appeared to be traumatized, staring into thin air.
Yekaterina’s table however is still filled with tension among the members. She watched Ahrio and Blaize resumed their drinking session from earlier, Zayden and Jade joined them also while Andrik seems to be isolated from the group. The four were giving him the coldest treatment with underlying fury.
“What’s with the gloomy ambience, guys? Our success today deserves a toast!” Yekaterina attempted to break the ice and liven up the mood.
“Sure, let’s toast for Andrik’s best performance.” Zayden sarcastically said while raising his hand.
“He almost made our bodies float.” Jade added.
“With cut off limbs.” was Blaize’s snide remark.
Andrik was clearly pissed off with their mocks so he grabbed his glass and raised a toast as well. “Yes. Let's toast for your almost failed efforts without me.” He smirked corrosively.
Ahrio’s temper flared, he stood up abruptly and grabbed Andrik by the collar. “You almost killed all of us!” He snapped.
Andrik didn’t even flinch as he met Ahrio’s fierce glare. “No. I saved your ungrateful ass.” Ahrio tightened his grip on his collar, strangling him.
“You, son of a b*tch!” Ahrio cursed.
Blaize suddenly punched Andrik’s jaw, making him stagger a few steps back as Ahrio’s hold on him loosened. Andrik touch his bruised jaw and was ready to retaliate but Yekaterina stood up in between them and forcefully pushed Blaize’s chest causing him to lose his balance from slight intoxication with all the alcohol he has consumed.
“Stop acting like egoistic jerks. It’s not cool.” She shouted at the both of them. "You're causing commotion here.”
They glanced around them as if to check if Yekaterina was right before sitting back down, still pissed at each other. A few moments of silence ensued among them as the waiters finally arrived and served their food.
Freshly cooked seafoods including crab, shrimp and lobster were served. After everything was placed on the table, the waiters left. Then Andrik picked up the knife while glaring at Blaize. But it was immediately snatched by Yekaterina from him.
“It’s seafood, Andrik. What do you need this for?” She remarked as she confiscated all the remaining knives on the table. Andrik ignored her and continued shooting dagger looks at Blaize who is also doing the same thing to Andrik.
“Seriously, guys. You need to stop acting immaturely. We’re not here to compete amongst ourselves.” She said but was once again disregarded by them.
Yekaterina had enough and she slammed her hands on the table, causing the plates, glasses and other utensils to clatter. The other groups near them flinch at the sudden loud noise.
“Will you please just f*cking stop it? We’re all alive. That’s what matters.” She sighed heavily before sitting back down.
“Let’s just eat in peace. I’m hungry.” She calmly muttered. Andrik and Blaize finally casted their eyes away from each other and started eating in silence. Jade broke the silence a few moments later.
“Oh, my god! I’d rather die a tragic death than die from seafood allergies.” Jade pushed the plate back with a disgusted look on his face.
“Let’s request another dish for you. Maybe steak?” Yekaterina suggested.
Jade agreed and signalled the waiter by raising his hand up then the waiter immediately attended to their table. It didn’t take long for his medium rare steak to be served.
The chilly air of the night blows Andrik’s hair as he stood near the edge of the yacht, both hands gripping the railing as he leans, looking out into the vast ocean. His expression is unreadable and the cold seems to not bother him anyway. Yekaterina and the others remained on their table, drinking and chattering about something he couldn’t hear from his distance.
Yekaterina stood up and excused herself to go to the restroom but as she was walking towards it, she caught a glimpse of Andrik, alone and seems to be in deep thought. So, she changed her mind and approached him instead.
“Aren’t you feeling cold?” Yekaterina asked, starting a conversation with him.
“No.” He glanced at her, noticing how the wind makes her hair sway into beautiful waves. Her eyes seem to shine in the dark, reflecting the light of the moon. For the first since he saw her, he realized she exudes a different kind of beauty. She looks gentle and fragile but she’s actually strong and brave. She’s the kind of woman that doesn’t need a masculine man to save her.
Yekaterina meet his soulful eyes and at that moment she wondered what he’s thinking. His dark eyes are full of emotion she can’t decipher, his expression remained unreadable like someone who has tons of secrets to keep.
All of a sudden, the yacht shook and tilted to the side due to the strong waves, making Yekaterina lose her balance. She was about to fall on the edge when Andrik’s strong arm caught her by the waist and pulled her closer to his body.
Yekaterina gasp and felt her heart beat faster. She doesn’t know if it’s because she almost fell into the ocean or if because she fell into his arms.
She snapped out of the trance when she remembered that she needs to go pee. Her bladder almost can’t it any longer, she pushed him back and ran away without saying anything. Andrik followed her frame, confused as she ran quickly and disappeared into a corner.
Meanwhile back on their table, the four seems to be planning something cruel.
“Isn’t that too heartless?” Jade questioned.
“He deserves it.” Ahrio answered.
“With his attitude, he’s inevitably going to bring us down.” Blaize added.
“He lacks the sense of teamwork.” Zayden said.
“We just need to make this plan work.” Ahrio concluded.
Could it be a plan to save the team or will it have the opposite outcome?
Jade had never felt bolder and sexier than she ever did, except now, for she finally decided to let out her real sexual identity. And yes, Jade identified as a she from now on. She sashayed her way into the entrance of the forest where everyone was gathered for the next game tonight, wearing their uniform that she had specifically customize into a black short hoodie, gothic, punk pullover crop top, hooded sweatshirt long sleeves with alloy chain connected to the neckline that goes around her hips and backside, then she paired it with the women’s leggings uniform instead of the jogging pants assigned for the men. That wasn't supposed to be her uniform. Men were given black jogging pants and black hooded sweatshi
The moon rose in the sky, illuminating the forest. Yekaterina noticed something that sparkles and is shiny on the dead animal’s body a few steps farther. She walked closer to it and she picked up a tree branch. When she was close enough, she used the tree branch to separate the decayed flesh from the shiny thing. It’s a key. She bent down and pick it up. She wasn’t even able to examine it thoroughly when suddenly another group of players came and one of them, a normal looking guy, bolted towards her and grabbed the key forcefully, taking her by surprise.
Zayden’s hand reached out and smack Ahrio’s head, bringing him back to reality. “Do you want to die? Why are you giving her all the keys?” At this point, the woman had already received the keys. Ahrio realized his mistake but he didn’t know how to tell her so he just slowly pulled one key out from the set while the woman watched him, puzzled and wondering what the hell is wrong with him. Zayden immediately grabbed the key from Ahrio’s hand, annoyed at his starstruck expression.
Blaize put Jade on the hospital bed at once when they were back inside the arena. There is a mini-hospital inside the arena and all the players are provided with medical treatment only once if they were still alive after completing a game successfully. “I need your assistance.” Yekaterina said as she wears the medical gloves. She had already checked Jade’s pulse and she’s still alive, fortunately. The wound is not that deep and luckily, it didn’t reach her organs or any main vein. “P
Jade’s body is shivering. She had fallen back to sleep after only a short minute of being awake. Yekaterina shakes her gently, to wake her up. "Jade, are you okay?” She asked, to which Jade replied, “Yes”. Then her eyes fluttered close, falling asleep again. Yekaterina fixed her blanket to cover her body properly.
Blaize sprinted towards Andrik as they walk back to Jade’s room, and put one arm around him, deliberately pushing and pressing down on his injured arm. Andrik groaned and almost lost his balance in surprise. “See? I told you you’re a pro at army crawling.” He smirked tauntingly and even raised his eyebrow up and down twice. “Yekaterina is super cool.” Zayden muttered like he was lost in a trance as he recalled something from his memory about Yekaterina, the way s
Yekaterina’s tears keeps on running down her cheeks as she watched Zayden and Ahrio burying Jade’s body. She leaned on to Andrik’s chest and he hugged her frame sideways, providing her much needed comfort. No one said anything for a while as they all just simply stared at Jade’s tomb. Until Blaize broke the lonely silence enveloping them. “At least she’s free out there.” Hearing those words, Yekaterina cried even more. They were elated about winning th
Blaize, Zayden and Andrik woke up with a massive headache. Groaning while holding his forehead, Zayden sat up from the bed. He noticed Yekaterina first who seems to be so restless in bed as she kept on turning her head left and right. She’s sweating profusely as well and her face held terror and a horrified expression. He got up and went to her, he shook her shoulders lightly to wake her up. “Yekaterina. Wake up.” Her eyes fluttered open and she immediately sat up and pushed Zayden away forcefully. “Go away!” She screamed then she hugged her body as she scooted ba
Big explosions from fireworks one after another are heard from the outside, visible in the glass wall. Everyone wore splendid dresses. From a first glance and by its blinking, shiny beads on it that’s probably worth an average worker’s yearly salary, it's not just an affordable dress that a middle class could easily afford. Everyone has glass wine on their hand, cheers reverberated throughout the area when the fireworks were done. "Good evening, everyone." A host on the stage began his introductory speech. He wore a tuxedo, a gloomy g
The silence that ensued between them was enough to express the despair and misery they’re all feeling. Yekaterina and Andrik won, but it’s like they lost gravely. They don’t feel like they had won at all. In a game where you have to kill your friends and family just to win and survive, no one really wins at all. “Use it, Zayden. Save yourself.” Yekaterina said, when Zayden just stayed rooted where he is sitting. He looks lost in a trance, unable to move. He had laid down Blaize’s body on the ground beside Minerva and he sat down there leaning against the wall, staring into nothing.
The sound of his nose breaking echoed in his ears when BGN1’s fist connected with his face. Tradd’s head reared back as his eyes shut in pain. He staggers back a few steps but kept himself standing up, even when he can feel how much strength it takes to get himself together after having his world almost turn around in a dizzying axis. He re-enforces his stance, lifting the arnis in front of him higher and readying for BGN1’s next attack. BGN1 snickered, thinking just how useless his choice of weapon was against his extremely, bulky muscular form. He flexes his biceps and his
Blaize cocks the gun and approached where Zayden is hiding but he wasn’t there anymore. From behind, Zayden strangles him with his arms wrapped around his neck. He dropped the gun and grasp his arms to try and remove it around his neck. But Zayden held on to him tightly, not letting his hold on him loose. Blaize struggles to get free, he kicks his knee and elbowed him, hitting his neck and causing him to let go of him as he groaned in pain. “How dare you lie through your teeth and claim you’re my brother!”
Bringing each of their weapons, they went out of the room and decided to ride the elevator down to see what’s going on in the other floors. They paused and froze in their steps when the elevator door opened. The elevator walls and floors had been painted with blood. It won’t take a genius to be able to tell what transpired here. “The hunt has begun.” Yekaterina muttered in a low, breathy voice. The stench of blood is so strong as they stepped inside the elevator. Yekaterina pressed the ground floor and in just a matter of minutes, the elevator stopped and the doors ope
The sudden change was unprecedented, putting them all in a state of vulnerability. Yekaterina and her team had always played fair, not knowing the game beforehand except the previous game. Knowing beforehand is cheating and it’s like a drug that enabled them to relax and put their guard down. But just like a drug, once its effect wears off, you’re left with an anxiety you’re unable to handle. Your fears come back stronger and this time, you crave the relief and fake bliss that the drug has offered. That’s exactly wha
Tossing and groaning from the searing pain on his shoulder, Blaize woke up. He sat up in bed and looked down at his wounded arm, noticing that it looks like it’s getting an infection. He’s also coming down with a fever. He dreamt about the past again, just like every single time when he’s sick. It started when his grandfather passed away, leaving him with an information and a mission. To find and protect his twin brother. Yes, you got that right. Zayden Jaxen Flynn is Blaize’s twin brother. Gripping the folded picture
Blaize woke up from the aches of his body. Just like his normal day, he trained without any breaks. "You woke up already?" He saw his grandfather at the door of his room. "Come on, let's jog before the sun's up." "Grandpa, can I skip today?"
Instead of analysing what the game is all about, Yekaterina's group is amazed by the setting of the game, how prepared and detailed it is. If Jade didn’t tell them ahead of what this game is, they'll be all so busy finding and understanding the clues and the worst is there's chance that they will be eliminated. Contrary to their competitor for this game, the other group sealed their eyes on the balls. Examining what will be the best ball that they will choose to survive.
