Struggles of the Heart

Being curious is not a thing to Nicole. As she arrives home, she didn’t bother to rest for a while and was still thinking why Louie suddenly hides things from her. Given that she has all the access to Louie’s social media accounts, she immediately checks all possible things on it. She scrolled and check everything until she notices one conversation with so much deleted chat history. She checks immediately the profile of the person and was surprised that it was the one that was once mentioned to her by Louie whom he worked with one of the branch office Louie assigned. As she pauses and think of the possible things on her head, she remembers a text she receives from a friend that she Louie that day, and beginning to doubt as the office of her friend is near on the branch office Louie was told her about. 

Immediately she called Louie and wanted to clarify it. "I am at work, will call you later." Louie answered the call. "No this will be quick; I can no longer wait. are you really at the hospital with your mom earlier or with Rej?" Nicole's voice is quite shaky. "What on earth are you talking about, you are thinking too much, let's talk this over after my work." Louie exclaimed and ended the call. Nicole knew already that there is really going on with Louie and Rej. She was devastated and wanted to talk to somebody. She tried calling Terrence but he is not answering her calls. She even tried reaching out with their common friends but seems everyone is busy doing their own thing. Until she receives a chat from Marco saying "are you already home?". Instead of replying she immediately press the Video call to answer. "Yeah, I am home, do you have anything to do, can we just talk as I really don't know what to do." Nicole is already crying out to Marco. "Why are you crying? What it is all about?" Marco with a comforting voice said to Nicole. She then starts to tell the story of what happened to Louie and her. Marco was so furious to it as he knows what it feels to be betrayed. "I understand you, because I go through with same scenario with my ex-girlfriend." Marco said. Nicole is still continuously crying as Marco continue to tell his story. "Me and my ex should have a baby by now, but she chooses to abort it and run away with someone. It is hurtful in my part that she hasn’t talked to me in the first place." Shakily voice of Marco. When Nicole heard it, he begins to stop crying and she ask him, on how he's been able to face the truth. "Well, I talked to the guy asked if she can let go, begged that girl to stay with me. but nothing happened. So, I start moving on my own. It is quite painful but all throughout my friends and family able to help me cope to the loneliness." Marco narrated. 

They talk the whole night and Nicole feels safe and comfortable with Marco already. "I think i should be brave to face it, i appreciate all your inputs. I will try to talk first to him to clarify. anyway, thank you. I need to rest now and I have work for tomorrow." Nicole said with a smile. They hang up the call. 

As Nicole still thinking about Louie. She immediately texted Louie's mom and ask how is she and if Louie was there in the afternoon. "I'm okay dear, I'm getting better. Louie didn't visit me since the holiday." Nicole received a text from Louie's Mom. Her speculation is now becoming too confirming as she can no longer wait for Louie to clarify things out. Immediately she chatted Rej whom she suspected. "Hi Girl, remember me?". "Yeah, Louie’s girlfriend, right?" Rej Replied. "Yes, I am, did you and Louie happen to see him earlier?" Niccole replied with frustration. Rej immediately reply to her, "Yeah, I think you need to talk to Louie about me and not me." Nicole will reply but she notices that Rej already blocked her. 

It is clearer to her now that there is something between the two. so, she left a message to Louie's messenger. "I've been able to talk to your mom, as well with Rej, I even get a text message from our college friend that she sees you with Rej, why did you lie to me? why on earth you choose to lie to me?". 

Louie did not answer Nicole's message. He even bothers to reach out to her as days goes by. Nicole did not seek any of his answer as well and just continue to work, to join with her friends and family as she assumed that it is already over between her and Louie as she believes if Louie really wanted to fix their relationship, he will make extra mile to explain. As she continues to move on, Marco is there. He comforts her, he is a friend and a companion, He is toughtful to be sympathetic towards her. And Nicole begins to like him. 

One evening, as Marco insisted to accompany her to her home. "Is it possible to court you?" Marco whispered to Nicole. Nicole was surprised because even she like how good Marco was to her, she is still lingering the pain of her relationship with Louie. "Look Marco, I don't have any intentions right now to answer that, it is clear with you that what Louie and I have doesn't have any closure yet and I know it is quite unfair for you. Let us be friends for now until I get have the chance to talk to Louie." Nicole responded to Marco. They've been so quiet until they reach the Nicole's home. It is obvious the awkwardness as they bid goodbye to each other. 

While Nicole is resting at her room her cellphone ring and it is Louie that calling. She immediately answers it with sarcasm "you remember me it’s been almost a month!" Nicole uttered angrily. "I... I was a bit coward to admit that I lied to you. Rej and I have been in a relationship before we have ours." Louie answered shakily. Nicole keeps quiet and still wanted to hear Louie's explanation but she can't help but to cry in pain. "I been thorned that you are the one my family knew, my family wants for me. I'm sorry, i neglected you, I already ended everything with Rej and I wanted to start over with you. Stop dating that guy I've seen you with at the subway." Louie exclaimed. Nicole stopped crying and put her composure back and said "you know what, I thought you we're sincere, you really wanted me back, i thought you were already different from the guy from college, I thought just what I've thought. you know what, during the darkest days you left me hanging, Marco was there to let me feel I am special, I am valuable. Just as you see us on the subway you will call me just to tell me that. I'm done, we are done. 

Nicole hang up, immediately she blocks all communication she have from social media to phone numbers.
