Sixteen

The moment the pack doctor cleared me, panic flooded my mind and set my heart racing. My hands were so sweaty, I kept wiping them off on my pants every few minutes as I made my way out of the hospital.

Everyone was outside. It was an absolutely beautiful day, not too hot or too cold this time. It felt so much calmer than the chaos in my mind and it made it seem that much worse.

I didn't know what scared me more: Derek coming to the pack and finding out that I was still alive or being claimed by a man I barely knew. One was certainly preferable, but I'd rather just keep going the way I have for the last few weeks.

It went by in a bit of a blur. One moment I was walking into Xavier's house, my mind set on scouring the library, and then next I was waking up on the couch.

My eyes snapped up to my alpha hovering over me with concern in his eyes. He slowly moved his hand away from my arm and stood fully. "Are you alright? I wasn't expecting to find you home yet," he said.
